Book Synopsis
The sky was clear and bright, a rare opportunity to take her daughter out for a breath of fresh air. As they turned down the small path beside the park, Xuan Qingya suddenly stopped in her tracks, her body freezing as she stared in shock at the cold-faced man ahead of her.
He’s back?
Xuan Qingya's hands trembled slightly, her fingers unconsciously fidgeting. The little girl tugged at her skirt with a distressed expression, saying, "Mommy, my dress is dirty."
Snapping back to reality, Xuan Qingya lowered her head slightly and replied softly, "It's okay, Mommy will help you wash it when we get home."
She forced a weak smile, trying to muster some semblance of cheerfulness. When she looked up again, she managed to greet him calmly, "You’re back."
He had been gone for five years; she thought he would never return.
"I promised I would come back," he said. "You would wait for me."
"I thought..."
Xuan Qingya bit her lip, unable to respond. His intense gaze made her want to flee.
She turned her head slightly away, avoiding his eyes.
