Book Synopsis
Cold water rushed in from all directions, as if countless icy hands were gripping her tightly, making it hard for her to breathe. She thrashed about, limbs flailing in the water. Her mind was a haze, shrouded in thick fog, and as she opened her eyes dully, all she could see was a dim blur, with indistinct shadows swaying before her.
The Elegant Man stepped closer, his footsteps steady yet oppressive. He pinched her chin and asked, "Who sent you?"
The pressure was so intense it felt like he would crush her jaw, his fingers sinking deep into her skin.
"What..." she managed to utter a word, her voice hoarse and weak.
He forced her to look up, pulling at her neck painfully, but her vision remained blurred, only a hazy light and the indistinct outline of the man before her.
It hurt so much; it felt as if she were being sliced by knives. The pain pierced through every inch of her skin, reaching deep into her bones.
"Speak! Don't make me ask again!"
The man's grip tightened further, veins bulging slightly on his hands as he cruelly demanded, "Who sent you to assassinate me?"
Huiyin's consciousness was fading; a name floated through her mind. She closed her eyes, lips trembling slightly as she murmured, "Zhou Changyi..."
Luo Hanfei smirked disdainfully, a mocking curve forming at the corner of his mouth. He gestured dismissively to the people beside him with an air of undeniable authority: "Lock her up."
He flicked his sleeve and turned to leave when suddenly his garment tightened. Despite being utterly exhausted, the woman clutched at his hem with all her strength, fingers gripping the fabric as if it were her last lifeline. "Don't go! I want to... take you back..."
Though her voice was weak, it carried a stubborn resolve.
Luo Hanfei halted, narrowing his eyes slightly in surprise. He scrutinized the woman for a moment before commanding, "Go find a doctor."
