My little treasures in my belly were stirring restlessly. I quickly took a deep breath, trying to keep myself calm.
"That's not how it is. Zhang Ming, please let me explain." I wiped the sweat from my forehead and spoke softly. "You're the only man for me. This time, I'm pregnant, and it's your child."
"Yue Yue!"
"I'm not an idiot!" Zhang Ming said, kicking my belly hard again. I fell to the ground. The little ones inside me began to stir more violently. My stomach started to contract. The babies were about to come out of me.
"Babies, don't come out." I whispered, "Don't scare your daddy." Tears slipped down the corners of my eyes.
At that moment, my heart was filled with mixed emotions. I remembered how my father had been frightened by my mother's Mouse Body. He had tried to kill her, only to end up being devoured by me and my siblings.
I was really worried that Zhang Ming would be scared too.
"Damn it, you filthy bitch."
"Are you still crying?"
"Do you even realize how disgusting you are?"
"Putting on a front while being completely different behind the scenes."
"You’re so damn promiscuous!"
Zhang Ming pointed at me, cursing as he prepared to leave in anger.
I lay helplessly on the ground, my body twisted.
The Mouse Babies hidden inside me crawled out.
Seeing Zhang Ming turn his back, they rushed towards him like they had gone mad.
"What the hell is this?"
"Ah!"
"Get away!"
Zhang Ming panicked and started running around.
In his haste, he kicked several Mouse Babies away.
His face was filled with disgust.
"Don't hurt him!"
I shouted loudly.
But the Mouse Babies had just been born and were ravenous.
They had lost all sense of reason.
"Don't hurt him! No!"
I cried out helplessly.
But the Mouse Babies couldn’t hear me at all.
In the chaos, Zhang Ming opened the door and fled outside.
I curled up in the corner, silently shedding tears. My heart was filled with hatred, yet I still deeply loved Zhang Ming. I didn’t want to leave him.
Zhang Ming left me this time because he thought I was carrying someone else's child. No matter what, I had to follow Zhang Ming. I gently touched my children.
"Babies."
"Daddy is angry."
"You should hide in the sewer; if Daddy can't see you, he won't be angry."
"Mommy will take you away from here, and every day, Mommy will find delicious food for you."
I whispered softly. The Mouse Babies seemed to understand my words as they crawled into the sewer.
I closed my eyes and recalled the first time I met Zhang Ming. Back then, I had just transformed. Hiding in a hole, I was discovered by Zhang Ming. He gave me bread and milk and took me to play in the human world. He even named me Tang Yue and brought me to his home, saying how wonderful it would be to have someone like me as a wife. As long as there was enough food, there would be no need to spend money.
I was so naive back then. I thought he loved me. So when Zhang Ming asked me to marry her, I didn’t refuse.
Even if having a child with a human would reveal my true form as the Mouse Spirit, I would still be willing. The only problem is that Zhang Ming has misunderstood me from the very beginning. He doesn't know that for us mice, the gestation period is only about 19 to 21 days. I truly haven't betrayed him.
Late at night, Zhang Ming returned. He had only one purpose for coming back: to ask me for money.
"I don't have any money left," I said, lowering my head like a child who had done something wrong.
Zhang Ming slapped my face. "Why are you so useless!" he shouted angrily at me. However, when he saw that I had chased away the mice and cleaned the house until it was spotless, some of his anger dissipated.
"Honey," I said, hugging Zhang Ming tightly.
He responded with an impatient "hm" and continued to look at his phone screen, seemingly chatting with someone. The contact was saved as Buyer.
"Honey, what is this?" I asked, glancing at Zhang Ming.
He snatched the phone away from me. "Don't touch my phone," he snapped.
I felt a bit wronged.
"Honey," I asked, "do you really love me?"
Zhang Ming seemed somewhat impatient.
"Yes," he replied curtly.
"Honey, I'm the Mouse Spirit. Do you still love me?" I looked at Zhang Ming.
Without hesitation, he said, "Yes."
After hearing his answer, I completely relaxed.
I fell asleep peacefully.
Meanwhile, Zhang Ming was on the balcony making a phone call.
"This woman," he said, "she's both obedient and capable of giving birth."
"Even if you hit her, she won't run away," the person on the other end replied. "But things are tight right now; I can't take the risk."
Zhang Ming lowered his voice, "This Goods is great and cheap."
"And you've seen her figure; she's definitely a good catch."
"You can resell her for a good price."
At that moment, I was deep in sleep, but I vaguely heard Zhang Ming's words.
