As noon approached the next day, Wang Wu arrived at the inn where Su Han and the others were temporarily staying. Li Mazi had agreed to help and had gone early in the morning to Zhang Biao's residence in the west of the city. 0

The group found a noodle shop to eat before setting off, but Wang Wu's expression turned serious. "Miss, you shouldn't come with us," he said. 0

Su Yao frowned. "Why not?" 0

"The Zhang father and son are notorious lechers," Wang Wu hesitated. "You are exceptionally beautiful, and I worry... it could lead to an unpleasant situation that might jeopardize our plans." 0

Su Han quickly understood. "How about this, Su Yao? You stay at the inn for now. If anything happens, at least you can go for help." 0

Though Su Yao was reluctant, she had no choice. 0

The road to the west of the city was treacherous; locals often said, "The road to the west is rugged and filled with despair." Zhang Biao had committed many wrongdoings and feared retribution, which was why he had built his lair there. 0

The only way to reach him was by water. 0

Li Mazi had already arranged a boat for them. The boat was rowed by a girl of about eighteen or nineteen named Ling'er. She was pretty, with delicate features and a long braid, standing barefoot on the boat with an air of charm. 0

"Sit tight," Ling'er said. 0

"What? Sit tight?" Su Han didn’t understand her words. 0

Her accent was quite difficult to grasp. Wang Wu, having lived in Linjiang City for a long time, chuckled and translated, "She means for you to sit tight." 0

Once they settled down, despite her young age, Ling'er showed surprising strength as she pushed off from the shore. She set down her bamboo pole and picked up the oars, guiding the small boat gently downstream. 0

Su Han felt a bit anxious. "Miss, this boat is so small; it won't capsize, will it?" 0

"Don't worry, young master! Our whole family has been rowing boats; I guarantee you'll be safe," she replied confidently. 0

Her accent sounded almost like "bird language." Without Wang Wu translating beside him, Su Han would have struggled to understand her. What she meant was, "Don't worry, young master! Our whole family rows boats; I assure you nothing will go wrong." 0

Although the boat was small and seemed to sway gently, after a while, Su Han gradually felt at ease. 0

"How old are you, little girl?" Su Han asked casually, feeling a bit bored. 0

"Eighteen," she replied. 0

"You’re just a young girl. Why aren’t you looking for someone to marry instead of doing this kind of work?" Zhao Gang, being straightforward, chimed in. 0

Ling'er blushed. "We Boatmen come from poor families; we can't even afford a pair of shoes. Who would want us?" 0

The atmosphere became a bit awkward. 0

The small boat slowly entered Mirror Lake, with rippling waters on both sides and picturesque scenery that was breathtaking. 0

Not far away, fish occasionally leaped out of the water, making one wish to jump into the lake immediately. 0

Su Han noticed a bag in the small cabin and opened it to find several green fruits inside. "What are these?" he asked. 0

A glint of mischief flashed in Ling'er's eyes. "Young master, these are the most famous Crisp Pear s from Linjiang City. They’re very sweet; you should try one." 0

Crisp Pear? 0

Su Han remembered having tasted them before; they were sweet and crunchy. However, these fruits looked different in color and were smaller in size. 0

Wang Wu was taken aback and was about to speak when he suddenly saw Ling'er wink at him, so he swallowed his words back down. 0

"Thank you," Su Han said as he picked up a Crisp Pear and took a bite. 0

Pfft! 0

Pfft pfft pfft! 0

What is this? 0

It was bitter and astringent, leaving his mouth numb. 0

Ling'er burst into laughter, clearly delighted. "Young master, you’re really silly!" 0
