"I'm sorry, the data has been lost. Unable to provide an answer," the Control Device responded to him.
"This..." Lu Fei Fan felt a surge of anger.
"Forget it." Lu Fei Fan waved his hand, clearly dissatisfied with the Control Device. After waiting for so long, he was met with such a disappointing reply.
Luo Jing, however, did not linger at the control panel; instead, he moved forward along the path towards Metal Avenue.
Lu Fei Fan followed suit, but suddenly, a sphere floated up. It emitted a ripple-like glow towards Lu Fei Fan, enveloping him completely. He froze in place, too afraid to make a move.
However, a beam of light shot out from Lu Fei Fan's head, transforming into a spinning Energy Cube.
The Control Device naturally scanned the Magic Cube. As it spun continuously, it produced a melodious sound reminiscent of rhythmic decoding. Lu Fei Fan couldn't be sure; he was merely curious about this Magic Cube that seemed to have always existed within him, emerging at crucial moments.
This Magic Cube had saved him many times before; could it be that there was danger again this time?
Luo Jing also noticed the situation but chose to observe rather than intervene in the stalemate that Lu Fei Fan found himself in.
"Gene Code matches. Comprehensive assessment indicates suitability for inheriting control of this laboratory," the voice of the Control Device echoed as its scanning light faded away.
Immediately after, the Control Device sphere floated over and hovered in front of Lu Fei Fan.
"Please extend your hand above," the Metal Ball instructed.
"Inherit control of the laboratory?" Lu Fei Fan felt a surge of excitement. He looked around; what exactly was in this laboratory? Besides the floating circular Glass Slots, what else was there?
After some thought, Lu Fei Fan decided that it would be best to gain control first before exploring; there might be unexpected surprises.
He reached out his hand towards the Metal Ball. It shimmered like a water balloon, rippling with special energy waves. Soon, the sphere seemed to melt and quickly adhered to Lu Fei Fan's hand. He felt a warm, tingling sensation as if his hand were enveloped in a cozy glove. After a moment, it receded like a tide, returning to its original form as a control sphere.
“Hmm?” Lu Fei Fan looked at the sphere, puzzled. Was this the verification method? It seemed a bit strange.
“It's done. You now have control of the laboratory,” the Control Device announced.
“What permissions do I have?”
“You can access any location or view ongoing experiments.” With that, the Control Device projected a three-dimensional image, revealing countless scenes.
Lu Fei Fan gasped as he saw dynamic images of creatures trapped in Glass Slots, struggling and roaring.
There were also experiment personnel. Lu Fei Fan noticed that they appeared to be robots; their movements were indeed quite stiff.
“What kind of creature is that?” Lu Fei Fan pointed at a dark figure using an electric whip on a half-human, half-fish being.
“That is a Fifth Generation Puppet Robot created by the Creator. It assists in various experimental operations and helps manage daily maintenance tasks in the base laboratory. It is one of the primary labor forces within the base,” the Control Device explained.
“A Puppet Robot?” Lu Fei Fan was intrigued by these machines. “Can they be summoned?”
The Control Device did not respond immediately. Suddenly, two loud clanks echoed from both sides of the wall as two dark robots hidden in the shadows were activated. They were connected to several pipes that hissed as they expelled steam. The engines beneath them propelled them forward, and they landed precisely in front of Lu Fei Fan with a heavy thud.
For the first time, Lu Fei Fan got a good look at the Puppet Robots. They stood about three meters tall, their bodies gleaming with black armor. Their skeletal structure resembled some kind of beastly humanoid—far from aesthetically pleasing—but they had two mechanical arms and two more tentacle-like appendages extending from their backs.
“How many of these robots are there?” Lu Fei Fan suddenly asked.
The lights in the laboratory flickered on, revealing rows of Puppet Robots suspended against the walls. They looked identical, appearing to number in the thousands.
"Can they be equipped with weapon combat Data Analysis Systems?" Lu Fei Fan squinted and suddenly asked.
"They already possess weapon Data Analysis Systems and combat programs," the Control Device replied.
Lu Fei Fan's consciousness suddenly shifted; this was practically an army of robotic soldiers at his disposal.
At that moment, Luo Jing leaped down. Lu Fei Fan seemed to notice something and walked over to the edge to look down, discovering a massive spherical structure on the lowest platform below.
"What is that?" Lu Fei Fan asked, gazing at the enormous sphere, feeling no trace of energy emanating from within.
"That is the Klein Sealing Sphere!" the Control Device answered Lu Fei Fan's inquiry.
"Klein Sealing Sphere?" Lu Fei Fan had heard of this mathematical term. "Could it be…"
Just then, three figures entered through the main door. Lu Fei Fan looked up to find it was Rod, Treyzer, and Sebella. Especially Sebella; upon seeing Lu Fei Fan, she immediately recognized him by the unmistakable Greatsword behind her.
"Oh?" Sebella naturally recognized him and looked at him with a curious expression.
Treyzer summoned Gungnir, adopting a combat stance and watching Lu Fei Fan warily, but Rod raised his hand to stop him.
"Hold on, don't act rashly," Rod said.
Lu Fei Fan recognized these three as members of The Church from the Alliance Empire. The ponytailed priest approached Lu Fei Fan and politely performed a gentlemanly gesture as he introduced himself. "Allow me to formally introduce myself; I am Vice Bishop Rod of the Diplomatic Affairs Holy See."
"Hello," Lu Fei Fan could tell Rod meant no harm. "I am Lu Fei Fan."
Lu Fei Fan calmly revealed his name, unafraid of the other party investigating his background.
Clang!
The Ground trembled slightly, and a vibration emanated from beneath the Klein Sealing Sphere, as if an Ancient power was resonating within the hearts of everyone present.
“What is this…” Rod seemed to sense a certain force; the blank Holy Scripture in his hands stirred faintly, as if wanting to fly down below.
“Let’s go take a look.” Lu Fei Fan was the first to leap down, with the Control Device floating alongside him. This device seemed capable of following Lu Fei Fan indefinitely, allowing him to ask it any questions that might arise later.
As the group reached the base's bottom, they discovered the Klein Sealing Sphere was astonishingly large. Its diameter appeared to be over a hundred meters, standing around seventy or eighty meters tall. The surface of the sphere was composed of triangular materials pieced together, shimmering intermittently with Energy Flow coursing through it.
“What is sealed inside here?” Lu Fei Fan inquired.
“Sorry, insufficient permissions to access detailed information,” the Control Device replied honestly.
Rod stepped forward to inspect it, circling around the Klein Sealing Sphere while stroking his chin in contemplation.
“Treyzer, don’t you think this thing looks somewhat familiar?” Rod asked Treyzer, who was holding Gungnir.
“Hell's Gate,” Treyzer replied, recalling that he had seen this identical shape in a certain scripture.
Sebella frowned nearby and said, “Why do I feel like there’s a life force surging inside?”
“Could it be that something is locked away inside?” Rod wondered aloud.
“There are words ahead.” Luo Jing stepped forward with his spear. He had a clear view of the Metal Ball; surrounding it were metallic structures. This base didn’t seem to hold any treasures; the Babel Tower was clearly an underground testing facility of some civilization. Apart from the bizarre creatures in the suspended Glass Slot, nothing else piqued his interest.
Buzz.
The empty book in Rod's hand suddenly vibrated, drawing him closer to the Klein Sealing Sphere, as if it were resonating with something.
"There's... some kind of power inside here that resonates with my holy text," Rod said, curiosity piqued.
"Perhaps it's the part of your holy text that you lost," Sebella replied half-jokingly.
Rod froze in surprise, gazing at the Klein Sphere, contemplating. He only possessed a third of his holy text, and it would take a long time to recover the pages he had used. If he had the complete version, it wouldn't suffer such losses; in fact, its power would be even greater. He had heard that during the Ancient era, the renowned Foresight Master Vincent possessed one such omnipotent holy text.
Lost in the river of history, finding the other missing part of the holy text here would undoubtedly be an immensely fulfilling achievement for the Holy See and for himself.
But how could this Klein Sealing Sphere be opened?
Luo Jing had mentioned something earlier; there seemed to be writing ahead?
Rod approached the Metal Ball and indeed found a Metal Plate standing nearby, inscribed with strange characters. Despite Rod's extensive reading and self-proclaimed proficiency in ancient texts, he could not recognize any of the inscriptions on this metallic stone plate.
"What does it say?" Lu Fei Fan asked Control Device.
The Control Device scanned the metal plate and organized its findings before responding with a single sentence.
"Better to be lost in hell than to open the door from hell to the world."
Rod pondered deeply; the meaning of this statement was unmistakable. Was it warning people not to casually open this Metal Ball? Or was it merely an unrelated cautionary saying?
Boom—
The ground suddenly trembled.
"What happened?" Lu Fei Fan asked.
The Control Device immediately projected a three-dimensional image. In the projection, the Divine Court Sacred Tree was collapsing, where two red creatures and a black creature were engaged in fierce combat. Those were the giant python and the Divine Court Guardian, Seraph.
"This big fellow is about to break into the outside world; many people are going to die," Luo Jing scoffed. He naturally knew what was happening at the Divine Court Sacred Tree, which is why he avoided that area.
Rod's gaze suddenly became resolute as he issued a command to Treyzer.
"Treyzer, help me open this Metal Ball. I need to get inside and retrieve the Ancient Scripture. We cannot let that giant python escape." Rod clearly intended to obtain the scripture; with their current abilities, they had no way to stop or deal with the devouring giant python that had been released from its underground seal.
Moreover, its power was continuously increasing. If it were allowed to recover to its peak strength, it would be difficult for anyone to confront it.
Treyzer also believed in Rod. He signaled for Lu Fei Fan and Rod to step back. The Gungnir in his hand suddenly surged with light, transforming into brilliant lightning that struck fiercely at the Klein Sealing Sphere!
Rod watched intently as the dazzling light transformed into a blade that pierced through the Klein Sealing Sphere, but he could never have imagined that the outcome would be quite different from what he had anticipated…
