Boom!
The Pulse Energy surged like a tidal wave, creating rolling gusts of wind.
Chunks of debris flew out in all directions.
But the giant wolf let out a furious roar and leaped forward, charging towards Lian Qingzong.
Swish!
The Claw descended with the force of thunder, so fast that Lian Qingzong was caught off guard, hastily raising his sword to block.
Bang!
He was sent flying, crashing heavily to the ground.
Yet Lian Qingzong quickly sprang back up, unleashing a torrent of fiery sword waves towards the giant wolf!
Boom.
A deafening explosion reverberated throughout the area.
Amidst the billowing smoke, a roar echoed.
The giant wolf's furious howl resonated within, as Lian Qingzong swung his sword with a metallic clang, engaging in fierce combat with the beast. The crimson sword light surged through the dust and mist, while the giant wolf roared, emanating an overwhelming power.
Rumble.
An ancient force awakened.
The faces of the onlookers outside changed dramatically; Ian Ju and Shangguan Wan'er, along with Wu Lao, sensed an immense threat looming.
"Its domain has awakened!" Shangguan Wan'er exclaimed anxiously. She snapped her fingers and let out a sharp whistle, causing those who had followed her to look on in confusion. Meanwhile, many still in the cave were busy harvesting the White Emperor Star Fruit.
“Retreat?” Someone immediately expressed their confusion, wondering if they had misheard.
Whoosh!
The whistle sounded again, and those who had been puzzled just moments before suddenly darkened their expressions. They hastily picked the White Emperor Star Fruits in front of them and tossed them into their spatial gear, turning to leave without a moment's hesitation.
Boom!
The ground trembled around them, and the domain of the giant wolf descended like a vast net, instilling an indescribable sense of pressure in everyone's hearts.
Roar!
The giant wolf let out another roar.
Before Lian Qingzong could even raise his sword, the giant wolf unleashed an overwhelming Pulse Energy, swiping down at him with a massive paw.
Boom!
The earth shook as Lian Qingzong was slammed down, sinking deeply into the ground.
The giant wolf was not about to let him go.
It roared in fury, opening its mouth to unleash a terrifying Void Pulse Energy at the spot where Lian Qingzong had fallen. A torrent of chaotic Guanghua poured down, and amidst the thunderous roar, the force ignited the air, creating twisting electric serpents.
“This Chaos Pulse Energy!” Lu Fei Fan thought in shock. If this Pulse Energy were aimed at his Flying Ship, it would surely blast him down from above.
The strength of this giant wolf was evidently at the level of a lord!
Within its domain, it could harness all the power of the earth to fight for it and even weaken its enemies' abilities while battling within its territory. Naturally, facing such an ancient lordly creature was a fool's errand.
On the screen, Lian Qingzong was locked in as he was struck down into a cave by the giant wolf. As the raging Chaos Pulse Energy surged toward him, Lian Qingzong raised a Pulse Shield in defense. Struggling against the onslaught, he swung his Fire Cloud Broad Sword with all his might.
A fiery red beam shot toward the giant wolf with tremendous force—bang!
The ground beneath the giant wolf shattered violently, its massive body lunging toward him, claws enveloped in layers of terrifying energy, roaring forth like a tidal wave crashing toward Lian Qingzong.
Lian Qingzong felt like a small boat adrift in turbulent waters, but for the sake of his father, grandfather, uncle, and every member of the Lian Family, he brandished his sword defiantly against the giant wolf. Bang! Bang! Bang!
"For the Lian Family!" Lian Qingzong's figure was engulfed in raging flames, resembling a demon from hell. The Greatsword in his hand and his armor radiated with fierce Pulse Energy.
He leaped, narrowly evading the giant wolf's massive claws. With a single bound, he landed on its back, bringing down the Fire Cloud Broad Sword upon the beast's body.
Boom!
The giant wolf howled in pain and turned to swipe at him with its colossal paw. Lian Qingzong drew his sword and slashed back.
Bang!
The battle raged on, the sound of their fierce clashes echoing through the air like thunder rumbling beneath the earth. In reality, the continuous thuds of their struggle reverberated through the underground cavern, sporadic sparks and chaotic Pulse Energy bursting forth from the openings created by their descent.
Shangguan Wan'er shook her head and turned away, swiftly giving a signal to her subordinates who had yet to return.
Most had come back, but a few were still missing—likely lost in the domain of the Giant Wolf Lord. Even though it was merely a leader-class beast, dealing with these human generals was akin to crushing ants; no number of generals could stand against it.
Lian Qingzong watched as his grandfather and father fell beneath that giant wolf. Although he had broken through to become a War God, killing that beast seemed impossible.
Currently, they were locked in combat only because the giant wolf had yet to awaken and regain its full energy. It had been imprisoned underground for so long that its ancient powers were still recovering. For someone like Lian Qingzong, who had just ascended to War God status, this opportunity to challenge it was more about luck than skill.
Yet Lian Qingzong did not see it that way; he had to kill this monster to avenge every member of the Lian Family—his grandfather, father, uncle—everyone.
Thus, he no longer worried about his own life or death; instead, he grew bolder as he fought fiercely underground.
Shangguan Wan'er had no interest in witnessing the outcome. Seeing her subordinates return, she chose to retreat.
"Withdraw," she commanded before turning around and leading her subordinates away as quickly as possible.
"Hmm?" Wu Lao was reluctant to leave; he wanted to descend further into the cavern to gather more White Emperor Star Fruits. This would at least help offset his losses. If he returned without completing his mission due to losing manpower, it would be difficult for him to explain himself.
“Shangguan Wan'er, are you really just leaving like this?” Wu Lao couldn't hold back any longer and directly questioned her. She had taken away her subordinates, leaving him to face the possibility of encountering Dongfang Hui alone.
“If you want to pick the White Emperor Star Fruit, feel free. Why didn't you stop the Dongfang Family members earlier?” Shangguan Wan'er clearly saw through Wu Lao's concerns.
“You!” Wu Lao was momentarily at a loss for words. Since the battle began with the Flying Ship attacking the Lian Family, she had led the Dongfang Family members into the cave. As for where they had gone afterward, there was no way to know.
Wu Lao felt a sharp pang at her words and naturally didn’t dare to refute her. He could only coldly watch as Shangguan Wan'er left with her people.
On the other hand, the man with half his face obscured hadn’t left yet. Wu Lao's hopes were pinned on that man, hoping he would pick the White Emperor Star Fruit.
“Uh… cough, Dongqing.” Wu Lao miscalled the name right away, causing the half-obscured man to frown in displeasure.
Wu Lao’s casual mention of Shangguan Wan'er’s name had already been quite irksome, especially since their collaboration was meant to be discreet and avoid revealing too much about their identities. Now that he called out his real name, it clearly indicated that he knew too much.
Feeling somewhat embarrassed, Wu Lao chose not to say anything further. He sensed that Hai Dongqing was glaring at him with an unfriendly look, clearly placing him on a blacklist.
“Wu Lao, don’t forget the purpose of our collaboration this time. Also, I think it’s necessary for me to have a serious talk with your superior. During our cooperation, if his people expose our identities, can I just kill them?” Hai Dongqing said in a low tone.
“You…” Wu Lao was momentarily speechless. If his reckless behavior were to be discovered by his superior, he wouldn’t need Hai Dongqing to take action; he would likely be dealt with himself.
Thinking about returning empty-handed and facing severe consequences made him feel breathless. His superior was notorious for being unpredictable in temperament.
“Let’s gather our people and leave as well. Follow Shangguan Wan'er,” Hai Dongqing said, raising his hand. A white falcon descended, turning its head and staring intently at Wu Lao.
Wu Lao felt uneasy under its gaze and instinctively took a step back in fear.
One of Hai Dongqing's companions opened his leather coat and took out a palm-sized horn made from an unknown animal's horn or tooth. It let out a series of hoots—
The sound of the horn echoed out, summoning many of Hai Dongqing's subordinates adorned with totems or wearing beast skin attire back to him. Although they all bore some signs of weariness, their swift movements as they leaped out from the cave and returned to Hai Dongqing's side indicated that they were all top-notch fighters—General-level warriors who had clearly undergone special training.
While Shangguan Wan'er’s people might not match Hai Dongqing’s in quality, no one could rival them in loyalty. In contrast, Hai Dongqing’s forces were robust and formidable; it was such warriors who had enabled them to endure battles in the northern wild seas thus far. The Blood Barrier of the Free Federation had likely consumed countless souls of such warriors along its borders.
Wu Lao realized that his own men were hastily recruited and uneven in skill; naturally, there was little loyalty among them.
Only a few subordinates who had come along with him were still manageable, but throughout the journey, they had sacrificed themselves in battle, or more accurately, he had ruthlessly abandoned them.
Over there, Hai Dongqing turned to leave with his subordinates. The sounds of battle rumbled behind them, and occasionally there were startling noises coming from underground. However, Hai Dongqing ignored it all; if he delayed any longer, that treasure would be snatched away by others.
Wu Lao was caught in a dilemma. He glanced around and ultimately, with reluctance, sheathed his gear sword and left with Hai Dongqing's group. Hai Dongqing cast a sharp glance at the empty Flying Ship, his gaze piercing as if it penetrated through the ship and into its interior.
Lu Fei Fan naturally noticed Shangguan Wan'er and Hai Dongqing's group leaving.
The battle in the underground continued, but Lu Fei Fan lost interest in watching any longer.
"Are those people leaving?" Lu Fei Fan wondered aloud, curious. From the moment they brought Jian Ju into Bai Di Cheng, he found it strange; if it weren't for them, Lu Fei Fan wouldn't have been able to conceal his identity so smoothly.
"They don't seem like they're leaving," Lu Fei Fan mused, stroking his chin. An instinct told him that these people wouldn't leave so easily. What puzzled Lu Fei Fan even more was that they actually abandoned the White Emperor Star Fruit to leave?
This led Lu Fei Fan to speculate that they must have something even more important to pursue.
However, Lu Fei Fan had no intention of giving up on the White Emperor Star Fruit. A thought flashed through his mind, and the Ship emitted a burst of light. From the outside, a large opening appeared, and countless black cubes poured out like living creatures, swarming towards the cave where the White Emperor Star Fruit was located.
