As Lu Fei Fan stood at the entrance, he was met with the astonished gazes of those inside the cave. The mercenaries, exuding a fierce and ruthless aura, remained remarkably calm in the presence of this unexpected visitor, even regarding him with a mocking glint in their eyes.
Lu Fei Fan's gaze fell upon the largest of the juvenile Giant Apes, now sprawled on the ground. The pool of blood around it indicated that it had attempted to defend itself against these sudden intruders, yet they had effortlessly slaughtered it.
Another slightly smaller Giant Ape was impaled against the wall by a wooden stick. Nearby stood a mercenary, wiping his hands with a handkerchief while watching Lu Fei Fan as if he were a new toy.
In a corner, the last remaining juvenile Giant Ape cried out in despair as two mercenaries tortured it with daggers, seemingly extracting a confession. The anguished screams of the Giant Ape echoed through the cave, filled with hopelessness and suffering.
Lu Fei Fan coldly assessed the number of people inside. Aside from the two torturing the Giant Ape and one who was cutting something from its corpse, there was another mercenary who merely glanced up at him before continuing to carve into the remains.
Finally, a burly mercenary emerged from deeper within the cave, wielding a thick club embedded with barbs. He noticed Lu Fei Fan standing at the entrance and his indifferent gaze fell upon the large bundle on Lu Fei Fan's back. Lu Fei Fan sensed that this man was at least of Special-Class General caliber, while the other four were close to General level as well.
This man was likely their leader.
The two mercenaries torturing the Giant Ape looked at Lu Fei Fan with extreme provocation, even driving their knives into the juvenile Giant Ape's body. As it gasped its last breath, it emitted a hissing sound reminiscent of air escaping from a punctured bag.
Once the juvenile Giant Ape had perished, the two crouching mercenaries kicked its body aside without a glance and casually flicked their knives to shake off the blood, their attention still fixed on Lu Fei Fan’s every move.
It was clear that these mercenaries were not ordinary characters; they were Fusers who had practiced Fu Mai Xi Shu. Each one was ruthless and cunning—after all, entering Bai Di Cheng’s otherworldly realm was not something one could achieve by mere luck.
If an ordinary person—or even Lu Fei Fan before obtaining the Tomb of the Giant Whale and its legacy—had faced four mercenaries nearing General level with a Special-Class General watching them, they would have likely turned tail and fled immediately.
However, having witnessed the brutal slaughter of those three juvenile Giant Apes, Lu Fei Fan felt an even heavier burden of guilt for having treated them with pity earlier. If their extermination had been orchestrated by Dongfang Hui and he had not obtained treasures like the Azure Feather Spirit Fruit from within the secret chamber, he would not have felt any sense of debt.
But because they had hidden in that chamber while he stumbled upon an opportunity for wealth, it became evident that there was truth to the saying about being soft-hearted when accepting favors. His conscience weighed heavily on him; thus he had returned along his path to settle them comfortably. Yet now…
They had been ruthlessly and brutally slaughtered by these heartless intruders. Clearly, these three juvenile Giant Apes had lost their chance at survival due to their departure from safety.
Lu Fei Fan silently set down the large package behind him in the cave, showing no signs of wanting to escape.
This surprised the group of Mercenaries slightly. Most people would have turned and run upon seeing them, yet this young man, devoid of any Fuser aura, remained so calm. Was he simply stunned?
"I dislike killing more than anything, but what you’ve done today has crossed my bottom line."
After placing the package down, Lu Fei Fan lifted his head and looked at them with indifference.
Suddenly, one of the Mercenaries who had been wiping his hands couldn't help but laugh, cursing, "Hey, kid, if you’re this arrogant, I can show you what it really means when they say there are mountains beyond mountains!"
With that, he threw his dirty handkerchief at Lu Fei Fan's face, but Lu Fei Fan raised his hand to catch it.
However, the man's sweeping kick was already aimed at Lu Fei Fan's neck.
"Die, you arrogant brat who doesn’t know his place!" he shouted. The force of his kick sliced through the air with a faint cracking sound, clearly infused with his own Pulse Energy. He intended not just to incapacitate Lu Fei Fan but to break him as punishment for his arrogance.
The others in the cave watched with smirks on their faces, clearly thinking that Lu Fei Fan was doomed. Only the tall and burly captain furrowed his brow in unease, sensing something was off but unable to pinpoint what it was.
"Lao San's Vajra Mantis Leg can kick through an armored tank!"
"This kid is asking for death."
The two Mercenaries who had just slaughtered the last juvenile Giant Ape watched the scene at the cave entrance like spectators at a show, confident of their victory. Yet, what happened next left them utterly shocked.
As the leg of Lao San descended with fierce precision, a loud bang echoed through the air!
Lao San, swift as lightning, found his Vajra Mantis Leg sweeping through empty space. With a thunderous crash, his foot struck the wall, creating a crack in the solid surface. There was no debris flying; had an ordinary person been hit by that kick, it would have surely meant their demise.
Lao San was stunned, as if struck by a bolt from the blue. He hadn’t even seen how his opponent had evaded him; in the moment his foot came down, there was only a fleeting shadow.
Before he could retract his leg,
“Right!” shouted Zhong Nian, who was busy dismembering a body, quickly alerting him.
“Two…” Lao San turned his head just in time to see a hand pressing down on him, immobilizing him with the strength of a mountain.
Bang!
Lao San was effortlessly pinned against the wall by Lu Fei Fan, crashing into it with a resounding impact.
Lu Fei Fan released his grip, and Lao San slumped down the wall, bloodied and lifeless.
Everyone watched this scene in shock, utterly dumbfounded.
“Damn.”
But soon after, two mercenaries who had been mercilessly slaughtering young gorillas swiftly drew their Energy Guns and aimed at Lu Fei Fan!
Bullets whizzed through the air as Lu Fei Fan dodged left and right, quickly closing in on the two men. His gaze was that of a reaper.
The two of them coordinated perfectly, drawing their swords and striking down simultaneously. Bang! Bang!
Their bodies arched as the blades fell, but they froze in that moment, for Lu Fei Fan had already half-kneeled before them, his fists crashing into their abdomens.
Blood quickly flowed from their mouths as their forms slowly collapsed from the impact of Lu Fei Fan's punches.
Sizzle! Sizzle! Sizzle!
Lu Fei Fan's retracted fists crackled with faint bursts of Pulse Energy, indicating that he had not held back with those two punches. Each blow shattered the opponents' armor and infused tremendous Pulse Energy into their midsections, delivering a devastating force that few could withstand.
In an instant, three had fallen. The only ones left were the veteran who was still engaged in a struggle with the gorilla and the captain.
The veteran, the most experienced among them, bit down on his dagger and hurled two removed Energy Grenades.
Boom! Boom!
The muffled explosions echoed within the cave, causing several stones to tumble down. Lu Fei Fan raised a Pulse Energy Shield before him, absorbing most of the blast's power. Suddenly, amidst the swirling smoke, an iron rod studded with spikes sliced through the haze, aimed directly at Lu Fei Fan's head!
Bang!
Lu Fei Fan's fists collided with the iron rod, unleashing a shockwave of Pulse Energy that erupted with sparks and shattering sounds.
Both fighters were quickly propelled backward from the force of their clash. The captain wielding the iron rod stared in shock at Lu Fei Fan; how could he have deflected his strike with bare hands?
Just as Lu Fei Fan regained his footing, a figure sprang up from the corner, poised for action!
“Damn it!”
The sharp dagger plunged into Lu Fei Fan's waist, and he turned wide-eyed to look at the sinister and venomous Veteran!
The Veteran gritted his teeth, clearly pouring all his Pulse Energy into this dagger. This surprise attack was executed flawlessly, catching Lu Fei Fan completely off guard. It was evident that years of combat experience had honed the Veteran's insidiousness; many had likely perished from such stealthy assaults.
However, he never expected that after delivering such a fierce stab, Lu Fei Fan would look at him as if nothing had happened. Could it be…?
He suddenly looked down in horror at the dagger he held in both hands. To his shock, not a single drop of blood flowed from the wound; the sharp dagger seemed to be blocked by something, unable to penetrate even half an inch!
In disbelief, he twisted the dagger with all his might, but with a snap, it broke!
“How is this possible! My Jiao Lin Bi!” He couldn't believe that his dagger, capable of cutting through iron as if it were mud and designed to pierce the latest Tactical Vest of the Free Federation, had shattered. He simply could not accept what he was witnessing.
“Are you disappointed?” Lu Fei Fan squinted at him, then wrapped his arms around him like an Iron Pincer, surging with Pulse Energy in an instant.
The Veteran, holding the broken dagger, let out a ghastly wail of pain as if he had seen a ghost. It felt as though a steel monster was squeezing him tightly; the sound of cracking bones filled the air as he screamed.
The captain quickly swung his Wolf Fang Club and charged over, but Lu Fei Fan swiftly dodged with the nearly lifeless man in his grasp.
Crack!
With a final powerful squeeze of his hands!
The Veteran's bones shattered completely, and he threw his head back, spewing a mouthful of blood before dying on the spot.
“Second!” The captain roared, watching his only surviving brother die at the hands of the brutal enemy. He couldn't help but reassess Lu Fei Fan, the young man who seemed like a demon.
“Who are you?” he asked.
“It doesn't matter who I am. What matters is that only one of us can walk out of this cave alive today,” Lu Fei Fan said as he released the lifeless body.
“I want you dead!” The captain knew he could no longer afford to be careless. No matter what, he had to kill this man to avenge his fallen brothers.
With a fierce roar, his raging Pulse Energy surged from his body like a fountain. He charged toward Lu Fei Fan like a cannonball, his Iron Rod ablaze with astonishing Pulse Energy flames—this was his full-power strike.
“Then come at me!” Lu Fei Fan gripped the hilt of the Whale Devouring Sword behind him. Just as the captain's Iron Rod came crashing down with explosive force, clang!
The Whale Devouring Sword was drawn, shining like a brilliant silver light that illuminated the dark cave in an instant.
Boom!
Outside the cave, centered around the mountain peak, a tremor shook the ground as if the earth itself was quaking.
A dazzling brilliance burst forth from the cave entrance, and a tremendous force swept through the area like a giant beast awakening!
