"Big Brother, help me!"
Lu Fei Fan immediately dashed behind Great Fox Manor, fearing that Jiang Lao's long sword would slice through him at any moment. Great Fox Manor burst into laughter and waved his hand to stop the commotion.
Seeing that this young man had such quick reflexes, Jiang Lao was caught in a dilemma, holding his sword but unsure whether to strike or not, feeling awkward and not knowing what to do.
"Don't take it to heart, senior. I believe he means no harm," Great Fox Manor said, waving his hand with a rugged and generous demeanor.
"Hmph." Jiang Lao snorted coldly. Since Great Fox Manor had spoken this way, he felt it inappropriate to force an attack. Great Fox Manor was renowned for his unparalleled skills, nearly unmatched among his peers, and was rumored to have already reached the War God Realm. Yet, it baffled Jiang Lao why he had yet to step into that realm.
Hei Yan Luo Luo Jing seemed indifferent throughout the encounter, uninterested in participating in such trivial discussions. Occasionally, when Great Fox Manor asked him a question, he would respond, but it was clear that he enjoyed conversing more with Lu Fei Fan. Even Lian Qingzong managed to chime in a few times.
Jiang Lao found himself in an awkward position, unsure how to resolve the situation.
"Why don't you sit down and rest for a bit?" Lian Qingzong suggested, offering him an escape.
Jiang Lao sheathed his sword and sat down, still feeling frustrated as he contemplated how to relay the information he had gathered back to his young master.
Great Fox Manor devoured most of a large roasted pig by himself. The greasy meat did not seem to affect his appetite; it appeared that Lu Fei Fan's roasting skills were quite to his liking.
He even licked his fingers several times before continuously reaching for the golden-brown, aromatic pork. The warmth of the roasted meat felt less scorching in his hands after a few moments of handling it.
This seemingly casual action revealed the strength of a powerful individual who concealed their prowess well; it demonstrated the refinement and delicacy of Pulse Energy in every gesture.
Luo Jing and Lian Qingzong were both experts and could see through this display. Observing Great Fox Manor's technique, Lian Qingzong spoke first: "If I hadn't chosen the path of swordsmanship back then, perhaps I would have had a mentor-student relationship with you, Senior Yun Zong."
After finishing off a piece of roasted meat and licking his fingers clean, Great Fox Manor burped contentedly and laughed: "Then you would be my junior."
"Oh? Why not call me your senior brother?" Lian Qingzong asked with a smile as he looked at Great Fox Manor.
“Because you can't beat me,” Great Fox Manor said, wiping his greasy hands on his tattered pants, speaking candidly.
Lian Qingzong smiled but remained silent, choosing to respond with quietude.
Jiang Lao, standing nearby, listened in shock, glancing nervously at his young master. He knew how intolerant he was of anyone being stronger than him and worried he might lash out.
Suddenly, Luo Jing interjected.
“Great Fox Manor, aren't you afraid of us teaming up against you?”
“Haha, I would welcome that!” Great Fox Manor laughed heartily, slapping his thigh with a carefree demeanor.
Lu Fei Fan observed Great Fox Manor, unable to gauge his true abilities. This man felt as grand as a towering mountain.
In contrast, Luo Jing seemed like an unfathomable abyss, while Lian Qingzong resembled a raging river—no, more accurately, a volcano ready to erupt.
These were the conclusions Lu Fei Fan had drawn after their brief interactions.
However, regardless of who they were, he realized he was not yet their match.
After finishing their meal, Great Fox Manor patted his belly and stood up to stretch. His bones cracked like popping beans, as if he was preparing to leave.
“Big Brother Fox, can I come along?” Lu Fei Fan asked, glancing at Luo Jing and then at Jiang Lao. If he became single again, Jiang Lao would definitely cause trouble. It wasn't that he feared him; it was just that his Pulse Energy reserves were still less than half full. He also worried whether Lian Qingzong might change his mind and turn against him.
“You have good skills,” Great Fox Manor praised as he rubbed his belly. “Having shared a meal makes us friends. If you ever need help in the future, feel free to come to me.”
“Alright.” Lu Fei Fan accepted without hesitation. With a friend so generous, it was only right to embrace such camaraderie.
Jiang Lao's hatred for Lu Fei Fan deepened as he watched him, perhaps already gritting his teeth inside. Lian Qingzong, on the other hand, remained still and indifferent.
“I’m leaving,” Luo Jing said decisively, rising to grab the Death Reaper's Scythe Spear and heading off without a glance back at the others.
“Let’s go, let’s go. I’ll find a place to sleep before dealing with anything else.” He scratched his head and yawned, casually walking into the woods, while Lu Fei Fan hurriedly grabbed his luggage to follow.
Once these two Killer Gods had departed, Jiang Lao quickly informed his young master.
“Master, it’s the Holy Grail Eye!” Jiang Lao exclaimed.
“The Holy Grail Eye?” Lian Qingzong was visibly moved by this revelation. “Are you sure?”
“Yes, I captured two Fusers and interrogated them. The Holy Grail Eye is highly likely to appear!” Jiang Lao nodded gravely.
“Among the Zhong Nian type Foresight Masters, Haisen Painaite is recognized as the Ambassador King and a leading figure of his generation. His death remains a mystery to this day!” Lian Qingzong suddenly remarked, seemingly enamored with this character.
“So… what exactly is this Holy Grail Eye?” Jiang Lao couldn’t contain his curiosity and asked.
Lian Qingzong shook his head. “I’m not sure either. There’s no record or description of it in any documents. No one knows what it is, but it’s certain that this item was left to humanity by Master Haisen Painaite. Some say it’s an extraordinary treasure, while others believe it’s a location of hidden riches—there are many rumors, but no one knows for sure.”
Jiang Lao felt frustrated; the information he had painstakingly gathered turned out to be a jumble of rumors with low credibility.
“However, with Great Fox Manor and Luo Jing involved, this news must be credible,” Lian Qingzong speculated with a smile. “It seems there will be quite a commotion here for a while.”
“What should we do then…” Jiang Lao hesitated.
“The Tomb of the Giant Whale is our target. As for the Holy Grail Eye, let’s just observe for now…” Lian Qingzong weighed his options and decided.
“Hm?” Jiang Lao suddenly turned around, noticing strange movements in a tree. A figure flashed, and he drew his sword, throwing it out with a swift motion. Bang!
Sparks flew from the area of the tree, and he stood there, seemingly puzzled.
“What’s wrong?” Lian Qingzong asked.
Jiang Lao held up his sword, which had pierced a dead spider.
“A spider?” Lian Qingzong looked at the spider, then back at Jiang Lao, and without saying anything further, he walked straight into the forest.
Jiang Lao felt he might have been overly sensitive and sheepishly sheathed his sword. He found it strange; the spider had a square shape, unlike any species he had seen before. However, given the vastness of the world, it wasn’t surprising to encounter many unknown things. Perhaps he was just too tense.
He didn’t dare linger and hurried to catch up with his master.
In the distance, atop a large tree, Great Fox Manor snored thunderously against the trunk while Lu Fei Fan rested beneath it. Suddenly, he flipped his hand over, revealing a spider that then transformed into a shimmering energy spot before gradually disappearing from his palm.
When Great Fox Manor finally woke up, he noticed a fire burning at the base of the tree and a water kettle hanging above it that had long since boiled. He picked up the kettle, blew on it a few times, and gulped down the water in one go.
At that moment, a shadow appeared above him and suddenly plummeted down!
Boom!
The impact created a large crater in the ground, sending dirt and stones flying as tree roots were uprooted.
Roar!
As the swirling dust settled, a massive white-furred Giant Ape, towering at least three meters high, pounded its chest and roared, its voice echoing through the treetops as a chorus of monkeys joined in with their chattering cries.
The White Giant Ape appeared quite furious, for the Great Fox Manor was no longer in its original place!
A figure had long since emerged outside. Upon spotting this person, the Giant Ape charged toward the Great Fox Manor like a thunderclap, its powerful form racing forward with incredible speed.
However, the Great Fox Manor remained unmoved. The Giant Ape lunged in front of it, raising its colossal arms like hammers to bring down a devastating blow.
With a resounding thud, the impact sent shockwaves through the air, yet the Great Fox Manor effortlessly caught it with one hand.
It seemed almost trivial.
"Just in time! I woke up just to stretch my muscles!" With that, the figure darted toward the White Giant Ape, which was more than twice his size, and with a swift motion, he pressed his palm against the Giant Ape!
"Turn the tide!"
Before the words had fully left his mouth, the Giant Ape was suddenly lifted by the Great Fox Manor and hurled away with ease. The ground shook as the massive White Ape crashed down several dozen meters away, creating a massive crater upon impact before slamming into an ancient tree, finally coming to a halt—its fate uncertain.
The surrounding monkeys shrieked in alarm, their commotion suggesting their discontent with the Great Fox Manor for harming their tribal leader.
Scratching his head, the Great Fox Manor let out a hearty laugh that resonated with overwhelming Pulse Energy, causing trees and creatures alike to scatter in fear.
Numerous leaves fell from the branches above; it was unclear whether they were shaken loose by his laughter or if they were simply remnants of birds and beasts fleeing in panic.
The forest fell silent for a moment.
"Finally, it's quiet," Great Fox Manor said as he picked up the water bottle from the ground, preparing to leave.
"Brother, help!" Lu Fei Fan burst out from the trees. He had witnessed Great Fox Manor topple the White Ape, but he was unaware that the power displayed by the Izumo Overlord before him was just the tip of the iceberg.
"Hey, why are you back again?" Great Fox Manor noticed Lu Fei Fan.
At that moment, a deep and gruff voice echoed from behind them.
"You shameless scoundrel, don’t you dare run away!"
With that, two figures rushed out from the forest, and Lu Fei Fan sprinted behind Great Fox Manor for cover.
"Brother, there’s a monster over there!" Lu Fei Fan clung to him desperately, not caring for explanations.
Great Fox Manor stroked his chin, which was adorned with short bristles like steel needles, and looked at the newcomers. This Fellow... seemed to have gotten himself into trouble.
