A group of people stood in front of them.
The Fei Hu Battle Team tightened their grips on their weapons, and Jiu Ye even took the time to rest his heavy Fire Howl Gun on a tree branch, aiming it at the sudden appearance of this new group.
Lu Fei Fan held his Lie Hound tightly. To be honest, both he and the captain were startled by the unexpected presence of these people.
This group was armed with machetes and a few possessed Hot Weapons. The younger, more battle-ready individuals stood at the front, confronting Lu Fei Fan and his team. Behind these fighters were elderly individuals and children, some of whom were huddled together, seemingly frightened by the presence of Lu Fei Fan's mercenaries.
Among them, some bold children and women were already sobbing, clearly worried that they might not be able to escape.
Their clothing was quite simple—coarse linen garments—and many had strange totems tattooed on their arms and foreheads, visible on their skin.
The standoff had reached a stalemate as Lu Fei Fan glanced at the horse team.
The horse team exchanged glances with Da Fu Ge, who understood immediately. He stepped forward, causing a stir among the opposing crowd, which began to retreat; some even attempted to draw their weapons.
"Don't shoot! We mean no harm!" Lu Fei Fan shouted urgently, hoping to prevent any gunfire. At such close range, injuries were inevitable.
Everyone on the other side exchanged glances, hesitant to speak.
"We want to talk to you," Da Fu Ge called out.
"What do you want to talk about?" someone from the opposing side shouted back immediately.
Lu Fei Fan noticed that one of them was a middle-aged man standing in the back. He was unremarkable in appearance and held an Energy Pistol. He looked somewhat fearful; if it weren't for the strong young men in front of him who seemed unafraid of confrontation, Lu Fei Fan might not have noticed him at all.
In the distance, Qin Qin lay on the ground with her sniper rifle aimed directly at his head. If he made any suspicious move that could provoke others into firing, she would ensure that he wouldn't have a chance to speak before his head exploded.
"We're here to find something and won't harm you," Da Fu Ge explained, hoping that the mere act of speaking would ease the tension in the air.
The group exchanged cautious glances, and finally, the leader, Zhong Nian, shouted again, "Let us go; we don't want to be your enemies."
The horsemen signaled that they could leave, but only under the conditions set by their Special Operations Team.
"That's fine. But can you tell us where your tribe is located?" Da Fu Ge asked.
The others hesitated, and after a brief exchange among themselves, it was clear that their leader disagreed. He spoke up, "We are people who wish to leave this place. We hope you won't make things difficult for us; we cannot tell you where Tribal Tree Village is."
The horsemen frowned; it was a difficult situation. The villagers were unwilling to cooperate, yet they did not want to resort to violence.
These uncivilized villagers clearly harbored no ill intentions and were simply afraid of outsiders. Anyone would fear strangers intruding into their home—who could say whether those strangers came to plunder or merely to visit?
Moreover, the horsemen knew that their Special Operations Team had specific objectives in mind for visiting the village.
"Very well, you may go."
After a long pause, the horsemen decided not to stop them any longer.
They motioned for those behind them to clear a path.
Just as the villagers hesitated, a sudden voice rang out, "No one is allowed to leave!"
On the other side, a group of people emerged, led by a disheveled man with a messy head of hair, dressed in an old, worn-out Tactical Vest, loose camouflage pants, and combat boots—an outfit typical of a Mercenary.
Next to him stood a man cloaked in a Rain Cloak, with something large and bulging on his back, which made Lu Fei Fan feel a bit wary. Following these two were seven or eight highly skilled Mercenaries, each one cautious and composed. Their attire was somewhat disheveled, but their gear was quite substantial. It was evident that many of their weapons were mismatched, yet they were all of good quality. Clearly, they were not poor; rather, they preferred to loot weapons from other Special Operations Teams.
These individuals formed a fan shape, effectively locking Lu Fei Fan and the villagers within their line of fire. Fu Qinqin, hidden at a sniper's vantage point, had her Sniper Rifle trained on the gap-toothed disheveled man.
The man chewed on a blade of grass, hands on his hips as he glared at the horsemen and threatened the villagers.
“No one is allowed to leave.” He clearly intended to do something with these people.
The horsemen frowned; this Special Operations Team looked formidable, especially the silent figure cloaked in the Rain Cloak. If a fight broke out… given their firepower, it would at least be an even match, but it would definitely lead to casualties on their side first.
“May I ask this gentleman…” one of the horsemen began, trying to keep his composure.
“Sure thing. I’m known as Li Tiezui, the one who can chew through bullets,” Li Tiezui replied with a mocking tone but looked at the horsemen with blatant arrogance.
“Oh, so you’re Captain Li. My surname is Ma. I’m curious about what you intend to do with them,” the horseman smiled back, probing for their intentions.
“Well, of course we’re going to capture them and exchange them for their boss’s treasures,” Li Tiezui stated bluntly without any hint of concealment.
“They're just a bunch of defenseless villagers. Don’t you think that’s a bit excessive, Captain Li?” The horseman tested the moral boundaries of his opponent with this remark.
“Haha, Captain Ma, are you joking? In our line of work, being soft-hearted will only lead to our own demise. Since you seem to mean no harm, you can go. We don’t want to fight our own kind,” Li Tiezui waved his hand dismissively, clearly not wanting to engage further with the horsemen.
Just then, in the woods, Qin Qin had her red dot sight trained on him. He glanced at her concealed sniper position and then gave her the middle finger.
The horseman quickly gestured for Qin Qin to hold her fire for the moment.
“Horsemen, keep your people in check,” Li Tiezui instructed, waving his hand. Immediately, several mercenaries moved forward to seize the villagers.
The villagers stirred, ready to fight back, but the mercenaries subdued them quickly, without even firing a shot. In just a few minutes, they had controlled the situation.
Lu Fei Fan could tell that those swift-moving mercenaries were seasoned veterans and not easy to deal with. However, none of them posed a threat to him. It was the figure beneath the Rain Cloak standing nearby that exuded an invisible aura of menace.
Suddenly, a child among the villagers began to wail.
“Mommy, Mommy…” A mercenary emerged from the crowd, holding a girl in his arms.
“What are you doing? Let go of my child! I’ll fight you!” A mother, her face covered in tribal tattoos, attempted to rush forward to save her daughter. But a vigilant mercenary struck her with the butt of his gun, knocking her unconscious. Several villagers rushed to support her, some even removing their clothing to cover her head as she lay there, tears streaming down her face as she looked at her child.
Li Tiezui approached the girl.
“Little sister, tell Uncle where your village chief is, and Uncle will give you a lollipop,” he said, pulling out a lollipop, unwrapping it, and licking it before holding it out for the girl to see.
The girl continued to cry, shouting, “Mommy! Mommy!”
Li Tiezui sighed and shoved the lollipop back into his mouth. With an impatient wave of his hand, he declared, “Enough of this; I can’t be bothered to coax her. Toss her into the mud pit.”
His words instantly drove the mother, who had collapsed into the arms of other villagers, into despair once more. Many villagers felt a surge of anger rising within them.
But several mercenaries immediately opened fire—bang bang bang—
Bullets kicked up clouds of dust around them, causing those who had just been ready to charge forward to retreat in fear.
The mercenary carrying the child walked toward the swamp as she struggled desperately in his grip. He showed no sign of sympathy whatsoever.
But he didn't notice the crosshairs aimed at him from behind!
Just as he lifted the child, preparing to throw her into the mud pit, bang!
Qin Qin in the forest couldn't hold back any longer and pulled the trigger. The horsemen were startled, clang!
The bullet pierced through the branches and leaves, racing towards that deranged man, who seemed to sense something was amiss.
But faster still, clang!
The bullet struck a slanted black combat knife!
Sparks flew as the energy bullet ricocheted off, crashing into a tree trunk and exploding into a shower of wood splinters.
In the center, the man wrapped in a rain cloak had his hood fall away, revealing his face.
The right side of his face bore five deep scars, as if some creature had clawed at him. His grotesque visage exuded a sinister murderous intent as he brought down the broad combat knife, carving a deep mark into the ground.
However, everyone's gaze was fixated on the man holding the girl. He stood there, the girl still struggling in his grasp, but he had frozen!
Li Tiezui sensed something was wrong.
“Lao Gan!”
Just as he shouted that name, something suddenly pierced through the man's body. He staggered and lost his balance, collapsing into the mud pit along with the girl.
"Looking for death!" Li Tiezui swiftly drew his weapon and fired at a nearby tree with a loud bang!
"Kill them!" Li Tiezui's team members, seeing their comrades injured, immediately opened fire on the villagers. Some of the more hot-blooded villagers, disregarding their own lives, charged at them.
However, many villagers were hit, bullets piercing through their bodies, turning them into leaking husks. They collapsed to the ground without even a shudder.
The girl who had cried the loudest was entangled by a Tree Vine, but Li Tiezui's marksmanship was excellent; he shot the Active Branch that was trying to save her. He then chased after the branch.
The girl and the corpse fell into the muddy pit with a splash. At that moment, a figure darted past swiftly. Bang! A Gunshot rang out, and a thick Tree Vine as wide as a wrist hung down from a nearby Tree Trunk.
The person leaped up, grabbing the Tree Vine and swinging outwards, reaching for the girl struggling in the mud. With one hand, he seized her, wanting to pull her out of the pit!
"Don't meddle!" someone said coldly, flicking his Combat Knife in annoyance. A sharp Blade swept out!
The half-arc of cold light from the Blade flew swiftly, faster than a blink of an eye, sweeping over Lu Fei Fan's head. Bang! The astonishing energy of the Blade sliced through nearby trees, leaving behind incredible gashes!
Lu Fei Fan's vine snapped suddenly in his hand, and he was dragged down into the muddy pit along with the girl!
