Lu Fei Fan spread his hands in a gesture of helplessness, wearing an innocent expression as if he truly didn’t understand what was happening. 0

Seeing that he was just as clueless, the crowd's gaze shifted from curiosity to resignation. 0

The horsemen placed a tray on the coffee table in the center of the living room and uncovered it. Inside lay a square ice box, about the size of a palm, exuding a chilling aura. 0

Everyone took a deep breath as the horseman carefully lifted the ice box and opened it. A rush of cold air escaped, revealing a white, semi-transparent caterpillar munching on Ice Mulberry Spirit Leaves inside. 0

The horseman quickly closed the box again, visibly excited, and turned to Lu Fei Fan. 0

“Please thank your friend for me. If he ever runs into trouble, make sure he knows to reach out to us,” the horseman said, clutching the ice box before hurriedly contacting someone. 0

“Hey, didn’t see that coming,” Jiu Ye nudged Lu Fei Fan with his shoulder. 0

“Come on, tell us how you know him,” Da Biao chimed in with curiosity. 0

“I just happened to see someone being robbed on the road; their caravan was under attack, so I lent a hand,” Lu Fei Fan replied nonchalantly. 0

“Nice luck you had there,” Cai Bi said, patting Lu Fei Fan on the shoulder. He then glanced at Qin Qin, who still looked skeptical with her arms crossed. With a whistle, he watched as she tiredly walked away, clearly uninterested in such a mundane topic. 0

The journey of White Pearl was nearing its end. To lighten everyone's spirits, the horseman arranged for them to stay an extra night. Cai Bi and Da Biao, like eager companions, set off to enjoy some entertainment on the cruise ship. 0

Jia Jia and Jiu Ye planned to try their luck at gambling in the amusement area. 0

Only Qin Qin stayed hidden in her room while Lu Fei Fan sat cross-legged in his own space. As he practiced the Pulse Breathing Technique, energy flowed through his veins like water gathering in a stream. A new batch of cells emerged from their icy confinement, continuously generating Pulse Energy that surged into Lu Fei Fan’s body. 0

Lu Fei Fan’s Pulse Breathing Technique was inherited from military training in Fu Mai Xi Shu—a rather ordinary method of cultivation. It had taken considerable effort for him to reach this point. Unbeknownst to him, Fu Mai Xi Shu had evolved significantly from what he originally encountered. 0

The continuous flow of Pulse Energy gathered in Lu Fei Fan's dantian, forming a swirling vortex. This energy rolled and refined itself, producing even more potent Pulse Energy, which left Lu Fei Fan astonished. 0

He began to refine this Pulse Energy, transforming it entirely into pure energy and injecting it into the void. Within that void, the two blazing suns radiated light as the refined Pulse Energy streamed into the emptiness. 0

One by one, stars flickered to life around the two suns, illuminating the space. 0

With this new cultivation method, Lu Fei Fan started to channel the Pulse Energy from his body into the vortex. The vortex's rotation was not fast enough to keep up with the rate at which his cells were producing Pulse Energy. Although it continued to refine the energy split from Lu Fei Fan's cells, the rate of production could not match the vortex's refining speed. 0

By the end of the night, Lu Fei Fan had lit up many stars with the Pulse Energy he had gathered. 0

Yet in this world, how many people could endure through darkness to attain a dazzling dawn? 0

As dawn approached, Lu Fei Fan felt a greasy sensation all over his body. He decided to take a refreshing cold shower but was surprised to find Fu Qinqin sleeping on his bed when he returned. 0

When had she come into his room last night? 0

He pulled a blanket off the bed, inadvertently waking her. 0

She sat up, rubbed her eyes, and looked at him curiously. 0

"Are you practicing the Pulse Breathing Technique?" she asked. 0

"Yes," Lu Fei Fan replied without hesitation. 0

"No wonder I felt it was so cold in here last night," Fu Qinqin remarked with a puzzled expression. 0

"Is that so?" Lu Fei Fan thought hard but couldn't recall anything about his cultivation from the previous night. 0

Knock, knock— 0

A knock on the door. 0

Lu Fei Fan opened the door to find Da Fu Ge waiting outside. 0

“Pack your things; we’ll have lunch and then head back!” 0

With that, he left to inform the others. 0

Finally, they were going home. It had been so long since they left, and Lu Fei Fan wondered how things were back home. 0

0

The Free Federation’s five great sea regions, among which the Central Special Zone was the most prosperous. The cities in the other four sea regions—North, South, East, and West—were also rapidly thriving. With humanity's stability, development was undoubtedly progressing smoothly. 0

Turtle Island, belonging to the Southern Sea Region, was not large. Lu Fei Fan’s hometown had a population of only a few hundred thousand. It wouldn’t even rank as a second-tier island city, but recent investments had brought about a remarkable transformation. 0

Ships moved in and out of the sea like schools of fish, weaving through the waters. Looking towards Turtle Island, one could see the intricate network of roads and bridges that formed the lifeblood of the city, propelling it toward becoming a larger metropolis. 0

In a retirement community for heavy industry workers, surrounded by birdsong and fragrant flowers, Hua Feifan's mother was returning with a basket of groceries. Many neighbors out for a stroll or practicing martial arts greeted her warmly. 0

“Wow, buying so many groceries? Are you expecting guests today?” 0

“Yes, it’s the Winter Solstice today; I just picked up a few extra items,” Hua Feifan's mother replied with a friendly smile. 0

“Is your son Hua Jun Tang bringing his girlfriend home for dinner?” 0

“His company is busy, so he probably won't be back until the evening,” Hua Feifan's Mother replied. 0

“Then why did you buy so many groceries? Are guests coming over?” 0

“No, our Feifan is coming back.” 0

“Oh, Feifan is coming back?” 0

“Yes.” 0

“I can't wait! Later, I'll go with Aunt Liu and the others to see if he's really as handsome as they say. There are plenty of single girls in our district, heh heh.” An eager aunt with a cheerful demeanor said. 0

“Alright, alright, come over early for dinner,” Hua Feifan's Mother said with a smile as she carried the groceries upstairs. 0

Lu Feifan's family originally lived elsewhere, but Hua Jun Tang started his own business with Lu Feifan's support and earned some money. Naturally, they moved their home here, which is a beautiful area filled with birdsong and flowers, perfect for his father's recovery. 0

Hua Feifan's Mother reached the fifth floor, opened the door to their old-fashioned three-bedroom apartment. The furnishings were complete, but what was most comforting was a spacious balcony where sunlight poured in like a waterfall. 0

A lounge chair was set up there, and Hua Feifan's Father lay wrapped in a blanket. After being observed and treated at the hospital, the doctor had advised him to return home for proper rest. 0

Hua Feifan's Mother brought over a basin of hot water and a warm towel. She looked at the weathered man sleeping peacefully in the sunlight and murmured, “You need to perk up today; your son is coming back. He’s been away for months; I don’t know if he’s lost weight or gotten darker. Aunt Liu and Lan Ayi are eager to introduce their daughters to him. I’ve secretly seen those two girls; they’re lovely and gentle. They would make great daughters-in-law for our family…” 0

After finishing her thoughts, she wiped down Hua Feifan's Father’s body. Just then, the phone rang. 0

Hua Feifan's Mother walked over to answer it. “Hello? Ah, Hua Jun Tang?” 0

“Mom, what time is Big Brother coming back?” 0

"I don't know. I just heard that Jiang Wannian sent someone back. This brat is so unreliable; I'll have to give him a good scolding when he returns." 0

"Alright then, I'll head back early today, hehe." Hua Jun Tang sounded quite excited. 0

"Hey, remember to bring Wei Wei along for dinner. Let your brother see how she's doing," Hua Fei Fan's Mother reminded. 0

"No problem! But I need to check in with her first. Hehe." Hua Jun Tang eagerly agreed before hanging up the phone. 0

... 0

As Lu Fei Fan stepped onto the sixth district, it felt like just yesterday. With his backpack slung over his shoulder, the shimmering sound of the tide behind him evoked memories of when he first left this dock. 0

Da Biao bumped into him and noticed his dazed expression. Concerned, he asked, "What's wrong? You look unhappy now that you're home." 0

"Oh, it's nothing." Lu Fei Fan felt a weight in his heart as he thought about his father still lying unconscious at home. 0

"Are you going home first?" Da Biao inquired. 0

"Yeah. What about you guys?" Lu Fei Fan looked at the group. 0

"We all have our own plans, but..." Da Biao paused, placing a hand on Lu Fei Fan's shoulder and gesturing toward Fu Qinqin, who was busy helping with the unloading at the dock. "She doesn't have anywhere to go. Why not take her home for dinner?" 0

"That... doesn't seem right, does it?" Lu Fei Fan felt uneasy about the idea. 0

"There's nothing wrong with it. Bringing her home as a little sister is fine. It's not good for her to be alone at the base all the time," Da Biao reassured him with a pat on the shoulder. 0

"Wait a minute, why aren't you guys taking her with you?" Lu Fei Fan suddenly realized and looked at his fellow friend in confusion. 0

Da Biao shrugged his shoulders. "We've all tried and been rejected. I think you might have a better chance." 0

Lu Fei Fan was momentarily at a loss for words. 0

The horse team and others needed to return to the base to rest before dispersing, but Lu Fei Fan was eager to get home, so he notified his family in advance while on the boat. 0

Lu Fei Fan watched as Qin Qin busily moved things around. As she stood up, she happened to look at him. 0

His conflicted expression lingered as he gazed at her, struggling to find the right words. 0

"What's wrong? Is your stomach upset?" Fu Qinqin asked, looking at him curiously. 0

"No." 0

"Then why do you look so strange?" 0

"It's nothing, just come with me." Without waiting for her response, Lu Fei Fan grabbed her and turned to walk away. 0

Fu Qinqin was momentarily stunned but allowed herself to be pulled along. 0

On the boat, Jia Jia was counting the unloaded cargo when she bumped into Jiu Ye, who was busy recording data with a pen and paper. She pointed at two fellows who were hurrying away from the dock. 0

"Do they look familiar?" Jiu Ye asked Jia Jia. 0

"Yeah." Jia Jia nodded emphatically as she watched the two fellows in the distance. "Definitely." 0

Then the two of them turned their attention to the other side of the dock, where Cai Bi was chatting up two tall female mercenaries dressed in tight leather outfits. The two women were clearly flattered by his advances, prompting both of them to shake their heads in disbelief. 0

The horse team stood at the dock with Da Fu Ge, who was smoking beside them. The horse team squinted, stroking his chin as he watched Lu Fei Fan and Qin Qin disappear into the distance. 0

"Stop looking; they've gone far away," Da Fu Ge remarked, glancing at the horse team. 0

"It's a good thing..." the horse team smiled. 0

"Not necessarily. Don't you think Lu Fei Fan has changed a bit since he returned from Liushadao?" Da Fu Ge speculated subtly. 0

"Really?" The horse team was somewhat surprised. "I can sense something, but I can't quite put my finger on it. However, I do know that he seems to be hiding something from us." 0

"Young people always have their own thoughts. If he doesn't want to share, let him be. We should be grateful to Jiang Wannian; if he hadn't recommended Fei Fan, we might not have made it this far," Da Fu Ge said with a hint of nostalgia. 0

"Let's go pay him a visit and also deliver the Ice Mulberry Silkworm to the Extreme Cold Repository." 0

Da Fu Ge nodded solemnly, tossing away his cigarette. There were more important matters awaiting their attention. 0
