Gods' Armor was the trump card that Lu Fei Fan relied on, and it was also the reason he dared to return to the base multiple times to save people. 0

Long before Shui Que fell in that building, he had already planted explosives inside. However, the fierce battle outside among the Generals left no room for him to consider himself just a pawn. 0

Little did they know, it was precisely a pawn like him who dared to stir the pot in the vortex, and he still had such a trump card up his sleeve. 0

He held Shui Que tightly as he soared into the sky, flapping his wings desperately to gain altitude. But then, a bright light shot towards him from the Ground, striking him squarely in the back. 0

It was a Surface-to-Air Missile! 0

The violent explosion hit Lu Fei Fan's back, and the tremendous force caused him to plummet dangerously close to the Ground. 0

Gritting his teeth, he forced himself to keep flapping his wings. Just a few meters above the Ground, he executed a dive-and-pull maneuver. He dared not ascend any higher; otherwise, he would become a target once again. 0

He flew towards the distance, smoke trailing from his body. He didn’t notice that a large chunk of black feathers on his right side was missing, but he could still fly—just not very high, especially while carrying another person. 0

All along the way, he fluctuated in altitude as he desperately flew with someone in his arms. The pain in his back caused him to nearly fall several times, but he gritted his teeth and pressed on. 0

Meanwhile, in the base, a tall man who had been crouching while carrying a Surface-to-Air Missile Launcher stood up. 0

He tossed aside the launcher resting on his shoulder and drew out a Combat Knife that had been stuck in the ground, sheathing it behind him. He coldly watched as the figure in the distance sped away; he hadn’t expected that after taking a Ballistic Missile hit, they could escape so quickly. 0

“I’ll go after him,” the Tall Man said as he turned to find a vehicle for pursuit. 0

“Not so fast; let’s finish things up here first,” Lancer said as he arrived with reinforcements, raising his hand to stop him. Suddenly, an explosion erupted from the ruins as 6 Berg charged forward again. 0

The Tall Man pulled out his large knife with annoyance and lunged back into battle with him. 0

"Hmph, with that injury, he probably won't get far," the man in the black robe said confidently, watching the direction in which Lu Fei Fan had escaped. 0

"It's up to you, Yu Lao," Lancer urged. 0

"Don't worry, someone who's not even elite like Fellow won't escape from my grasp," Yu Lao replied with assurance. "I'll change my clothes and head out." 0

With that, he turned and vanished into thin air. 0

Tang Kede and Ren Dongchuan exchanged glances, hesitant to speak. 0

Before long, Niu Han emerged from the ruins, clutching his chest with the War Staff in hand, looking disheveled. 0

Ren Dongchuan appeared somewhat moved and reached out to help him, but Niu Han raised a hand to refuse. 0

"I'm sorry, I wasn't able to help much," Niu Han said, feeling somewhat ashamed as he addressed Lancer. 0

Lancer nodded and said, "Go help me catch him. I will honor the promises I made to you." 0

Niu Han glanced at Berg, who was locked in a fierce battle with a burly man. From the looks of it, the burly man clearly had the upper hand. 0

"This thing is evolving too quickly. Relying on Iron Bear Captain alone probably won't be enough to hold him back," Tang Kede interjected. 0

Niu Han looked back at Lancer, who waved his hand dismissively. 0

With a roar, Niu Han seized his War Staff and charged into the fray. 0

Moments later, a Major rushed over to report. 0

"Report: The chaos at the base has been completely quelled!" 0

"How many living prisoners do we have?" Lancer inquired. 0

"Including the officers, there are a total of thirty-eight," the Major replied confidently. 0

"Good. Bring them all over," Lancer commanded. 0

"Yes, sir." The Major saluted and turned to carry out the orders. 0

Ren Dongchuan didn't need to guess; he had a good idea of what Lancer was planning. There were only two possible outcomes: immediate execution or transportation back, where they would vanish from this world forever—whether through death or some other fate, these individuals would no longer exist. 0

It was clear that agreeing to cooperate with Lancer had been the right choice for him; at least this time, he had won his gamble. 0

Half an hour later, the base returned to calm. 0

Even the last battle had ended with the mutated 6 Berg being confined in a specially designed metal cage. This cage was charged with the strongest electrical current from the base; any contact would result in a massive spark, forcing him to huddle inside to minimize damage. 0

All the prisoners were brought before 6 Berg. Two-thirds of them were soldiers from the Skeleton Legion. They looked at their familiar superior in the cage, each displaying expressions of shock and horror. 0

At that moment, 6 Berg resembled a monster beyond doubt. The writhing mass of flesh had spread up to his head; only his face remained normal, while the rest bulged grotesquely like an ugly mutated creature. 0

"Commander 6, you..." A young officer who had followed 6 Berg for many years could hardly believe his eyes. He stepped closer to the cage, trying to awaken his commander. 0

A tongue shot out swiftly, piercing his Heart, then quickly recoiled with a slurping sound. 0

The Young Officer looked down at his chest and then collapsed to the ground in despair. 0

In the Cage, Berg grasped a still-beating Heart and brought it to his mouth, taking a bite with an expression of delight. 0

Outside, everyone recoiled in horror as they gazed at their former commander, who had transformed into a monstrous creature that devoured humans. 0

"This..." 0

"A monster!" 0

"So what was broadcast was true." 0

"Everyone, shut up!" someone attempted to silence the murmurs. 0

"Engaging in such unspeakable acts and dragging us down with him!" 0

"How despicable!" 0

The chatter did not cease. 0

Lancer observed the scene with apparent satisfaction. 0

"Give them weapons," Lancer commanded the nearby Major. 0

Several boxes of standard rifles were suddenly placed in front of the captured prisoners. The Major issued an order: "Those who pick up their weapons to execute this monster will receive a commuted sentence! Those who refuse will be immediately sent to the Free Federation Military Court for trial!" 0

All the prisoners exchanged glances, but some still reached for the weapons. However, the soldiers surrounding them raised their guns, aiming at the captives. Any reckless move would result in immediate execution. 0

Lancer nodded towards Tang Kede, who lifted his lab coat. Underneath, there were rows of U-shaped tubes and tools like syringes and scissors—he was practically a mobile laboratory. 0

Tang Kede took out a bottle of green liquid and shook it before walking up to one of the prisoners. 0

"Feed him this! His immortal mutation ability will stop," Tang Kede instructed as he handed the liquid to the prisoner. 0

The captive appeared extremely frightened. Just moments ago, he had witnessed his companion's heart being forcibly ripped out; going forward would clearly mean death. 0

"Don't worry, if you take a sip, he won't harm you. This stuff is harmless to ordinary people." He opened the bottle and took a sip himself, then made a swallowing gesture, looking quite at ease as he offered it to the prisoner. 0

The man hesitated, trembling slightly in doubt. 0

Watching all this from the side, the Major raised his gun and aimed it at him. With no choice left, the prisoner gulped down most of the liquid. Just as he was about to finish, Tang Kede stopped him with a hand gesture, indicating that he should feed it to the creature in the cage. 0

Fearfully, the man turned towards Berg. With every step he took, he trembled violently, clearly aware that Berg was watching him. The monstrous form and gaze of his former superior filled him with dread. 0

Regardless, he raised his hand and threw the tube towards the cage. To his shock, Berg's tongue shot through the bars and struck his chest. 0

The soldier turned to look at Tang Kede, only to see him spitting out some green liquid onto the ground before wiping his mouth as if nothing had happened. 0

Despair washed over him as he turned back around, but Berg's tongue retracted with a slurp, leaving another pulsating heart that fell into his mouth. He had barely taken two bites before he let out a chilling scream… 0

The surrounding captives instinctively took a half step back, fear etched on their faces. 0

Then, 6 Berg began to melt, water oozing from his body. Layer by layer, his skin peeled away, and he writhed in the cage for a good ten minutes, howling in agony before finally coming to a stop. 0

Inside the cage, 6 Berg returned to human form, the discarded skin pooling around him like a puddle, creating an eerie scene. 0

At the same time, his eyes regained their clarity. 0

“Tang Kede,” he said, looking at Tang Kede. 0

Tang Kede smiled and nodded in response. 0

6 Berg scanned the area but did not see the one person he longed to find. It was clear she had likely managed to escape safely. 0

“A-Hua? Da Yong? Where is everyone?” 6 Berg asked his familiar subordinates, but one by one they retreated in fear, weapons still clutched tightly in their hands. 0

No one dared to respond. 0

“Lancer, what did you do to them?” 6 Berg asked, fixing his gaze on Lancer. 0

“No, what did you do to them?” Lancer countered. 0

Only then did 6 Berg notice the two corpses lying in front of his cage. Lancer gestured for someone to turn off the power. 0

The cage returned to its normal state, and even Tang Kede approached to open the door. 0

Berg looked at the two bodies lying on the ground, both of whom were his subordinates. 0

"They..." 0

"It's not me; it's you," Lancer said with a smile as he gazed at him. 0

Just as Berg was about to say something, one of the captives suddenly shouted angrily. 0

"Berg, stop pretending! You devoured their hearts!" 0

"Yeah, you monster!" 0

"I can't believe I stayed with you for so long..." 0

"Kill him! Avenge the dead!" 0

"Please, don't..." Berg tried to defend himself. 0

In an instant, someone raised a gun and began firing—bang, bang, bang, bang— 0

Bullets pierced through his body, creating dozens of bloody holes. Once the first shot was fired, a second person joined in, and a hail of bullets rained down on the young body, which resembled a leaking vessel as blood flowed out in all directions. 0

When the gunfire finally ceased, he fell to the ground, staring blankly into space while murmuring that name. 0

At that moment when the captives opened fire, Lancer had already lost interest and turned away, leading his subordinates off. Soon after, more gunshots rang out. 0

The captives who had just been executed by the so-called justice also faced a merciless slaughter. 0

Ren Dongchuan, unable to hold back any longer, finally asked, “Isn’t Colonel Lancer supposed to grant them clemency?” 0

Lancer stopped in his tracks and turned to look at Ren Dongchuan. 0

“Are you implying that I don’t keep my promises?” 0

“No, no, no, that’s not what I meant…” Ren Dongchuan immediately regretted asking such a foolish question. 0

Lancer didn’t seem to mind. He turned away from Ren Dongchuan and gazed up at the starry sky. 0

“Ren Dongchuan, surviving in this treacherous world isn’t about luck; it’s about conquest. Everything I do is for the Free Federation. I don’t need anyone to understand me, but I hope you won’t stand in my way.” With that, Lancer walked away with his subordinates. 0

Niu Han came up beside him and patted Ren Dongchuan on the shoulder. 0

“Times change, and people change too. Sometimes, people can be far more terrifying than those monsters.” 0
