Bai Xu Chang did not notice Jin Xiangwen sneaking towards the prey he had just killed, accompanied by several others.
In the crowd besieging him, people were occasionally kicked out or knocked over by the explosive shield of Pulse Energy. Bai Xu Chang moved through the throng like a breeze, untouched by any of the melee weapons—Zhan Dao, daggers, or axes—that were swung at him. His fists and feet moved like lightning, sending those attackers flying.
He even lifted his foot and stomped down with a thunderous crash, creating a massive shockwave of Pulse Energy that sent people sprawling in all directions.
As Jin Xiangwen charged towards the prey, he glanced back at the battlefield. Nearly half of the attackers had already fallen, many outside were moaning in pain—some had broken limbs while others suffered internal injuries from powerful blows. They wouldn’t die, but they would likely be bedridden for months.
The temptation of immense profit could turn people into demons.
When Jin Zhiwen arrived at another side and spotted the two intertwined corpses of the Chi Electric Thunder Serpent, he couldn't help but smile broadly. He immediately drew his Zhan Dao and signaled for his companions to prepare to sever the Snake Head and pack it in a special backpack.
Meanwhile, Bai Xu Chang raised his hands again, unleashing another wave of Pulse Energy that sent another dozen attackers flying. At this rate, it wouldn't take long before Bai Xu Chang would take down all one hundred or so assailants surrounding him.
“Get out of the way, let me do it!” Jin Xiangwen shouted as he saw his subordinates moving too slowly. He took up his Zhan Dao and prepared to take matters into his own hands.
However, just as he reached the two corpses of the Chi Electric Thunder Serpent and raised his blade to strike, a loud bang echoed.
Clang!
An Energy Bullet struck his Zhan Dao, sending it flying from his grasp.
Stunned for a moment, he looked around at the surrounding forest with a dark expression.
“There’s a sniper!” he growled.
His subordinates quickly drew their Hot Weapons and scanned the treeline for any signs of danger.
“Damn it, don’t we have our own people on the perimeter?” Jin Xiangwen complained angrily, then crouched down and drew the dagger from her leg, preparing to finish off her target.
Bang!
Another gunshot rang out.
Boom!
An energy bullet from a sniper rifle struck the ground not far in front of her, kicking up a cloud of dust half a meter high.
Jin Xiangwen immediately kicked the ground in frustration and stood up, shouting furiously, “Come out and face me like a man! Don’t hide in the trees like a coward!”
Hiding in the trees with a standard military issue energy sniper rifle, Lu Fei Fan smirked at Jin Xiangwen’s furious demeanor. He felt quite pleased; if anyone wanted to steal the Chi Electric Thunder Serpent, they would have to get past him first.
Thinking this, he squeezed the trigger again. The energy sniper rifle perched on the rock fired with a loud bang, shaking violently as the dust stirred. The energy bullet sped toward the Chi Electric Thunder Serpent, striking nearby with a thud!
The explosive cloud of dust rose up, freezing a mercenary who had intended to step closer to the Chi Electric Thunder Serpent’s corpse. If he had moved even half a step faster, that bullet from the sniper rifle would have undoubtedly shattered his leg.
Lu Fei Fan calmly held his sniper rifle, peering through the scope at several people gathered around the Chi Electric Thunder Serpent but too afraid to approach. Just two meters away from him was an unfortunate soul clad in mountain camouflage who had been caught by one of Lu Fei Fan's mechanical spiders. In a panic, he smashed one of his own mechanical spiders with his rifle butt, only to become the first target that Lu Fei Fan set his sights on. Lu Fei Fan approached and knocked him unconscious, temporarily taking over his energy sniper rifle.
“Give me the communicator!” Jin Xiangwen reached out for an earpiece from her subordinate.
“Who fired that shot just now? Was it one of our own?” Jin Xiangwen questioned her team on the channel. They had set up a perimeter and temporarily taken control of this area, so they were not about to let anyone from outside slip in and cause trouble.
“It wasn’t me!”
“Not me either.”
“I heard gunfire…”
The channel continued to relay reports.
Jin Xiangwen's face was dark as he said, "Find that person and eliminate him. If not, I'll take care of you myself!"
After issuing the command, he ripped off the earpiece and tossed it back to his subordinate. He then exchanged a glance with another subordinate, who nodded in understanding and drew out a Zhan Dao, aiming it at the Chi Electric Thunder Serpent.
Bang!
Lu Fei Fan fired again with his Energy Sniper Rifle.
Clang!
The raised Zhan Dao was shattered into two pieces with a single shot.
Another subordinate stepped forward, drawing his Zhan Dao once more. This time, Lu Fei Fan didn’t issue a warning; he simply pulled the trigger, hitting the man in the shoulder. Blood sprayed into the air like a dancing serpent.
The man fell heavily to the ground, groaning in pain. Jin Xiangwen had been hiding behind a rock, calculating the time and the sound of gunfire. The person was lurking not far from him, probably just a couple of hundred meters away.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
The sound of Energy Sniper Rifles echoed from three different directions.
Lu Fei Fan suddenly dove to the side as explosions erupted around his rocky cover—boom, boom, boom—chunks of stone and dirt flew chaotically through the air.
Three Energy Sniper Rifles fired at him simultaneously from different angles. It seemed that his earlier shots had revealed his position. Lu Fei Fan dragged his rifle and shifted slightly within the rocky mound, then picked up a stone and threw it in another direction. Clang!
The stone struck with a resounding echo, followed by a series of bangs.
Once again, three shots rang out, and the ground where the stones fell erupted with a chaotic spray of debris and dirt.
Lu Fei Fan, clutching his Energy Sniper Rifle, pulled the trigger with a bang, firing at a direction above him.
A cry echoed from that direction, signaling that someone had been hit.
The sound of his gunfire attracted the attention of snipers from two other directions, who simultaneously fired at his position. Bang! Bang! Fortunately, Lu Fei Fan was shielded by the rocky outcrop, and the bullets struck the stones, sending sparks flying.
After reloading a magazine, Lu Fei Fan shifted his position slightly and took on a half-reclining stance. He raised his sniper rifle to aim at a spot ahead. In the woods over there, a faint glimmer appeared, and he suddenly squeezed the trigger. The chamber jolted as the Energy Bullet shot forth with a thunderous roar.
Crack!
From afar came the sound of something shattering. It was unclear whether it was the target's body or his gunshot that had caused it. Lu Fei Fan didn’t hear the victim's groan of pain nor did he have time to ponder whether he had killed him or if he was simply too afraid to move.
Meanwhile, the last sniper continued to fire at his position.
Lu Fei Fan quickly scrambled up, adjusting the scope of his sniper rifle to survey Bai Xu Chang’s battle in the distance. There were still thirty or forty men engaged in fierce combat with him; however, Bai Xu Chang had yet to draw his long knife. Jin Xiangwu led the remaining fighters in close-quarters combat. Lu Fei Fan shifted his aim towards Chi Electric Thunder Serpent’s location, where Jin Xiangwen was preparing to set up a Snake Head with several subordinates.
Bang!
He fired a shot that struck a man's backpack, startling him into throwing it away as he stumbled and fell, scrambling to get clear. Jin Xiangwen stood up and kicked at him angrily. The man reached for the bag when Lu Fei Fan prepared to fire again but suddenly felt something rush toward him from behind!
He quickly turned his head to dodge as a bullet whizzed past his scalp and struck the stones ahead with a resounding explosion. Remaining calm, Lu Fei Fan squeezed the trigger of his Sniper Rifle again, sending another bullet flying before pivoting to aim at another section of the forest.
—Bang!
The sound of gunfire erupted from the woods, revealing his position with a flash of light.
Lu Fei Fan aimed at the target and pulled the trigger with a resounding bang.
Boom!
The sounds of two sniper rifles echoed almost simultaneously, but the outcomes were vastly different.
The bullet fired from the opponent's sniper rifle was on target, and he was confident that he had hit his mark. However, he never anticipated that his opponent was not an ordinary person but a Fuser who had awakened their abilities!
The Energy Bullet struck just short of Lu Fei Fan's face, shattering a nearby blue Energy Cube with a loud crash.
The Blue Energy Cube shattered into countless fragments, dissipating alongside the Energy Bullet. Lu Fei Fan instinctively summoned a protective shield; he didn't dare to rely solely on the Energy Cube to absorb the bullet's impact and added an extra layer of defense just to be safe.
To his surprise, the Energy Cube successfully neutralized what was otherwise a mundane bullet, confirming that his judgment about the bullet's trajectory was correct. If there had been any wind changes, he would have opted to split the Magic Cube into smaller pieces to form an energy wall.
In contrast to his own fortune, the sniper was not so lucky.
Lu Fei Fan watched as branches and leaves exploded from a tree in the distance, and a figure screamed as they fell hard from its height.
He discarded his Energy Sniper Rifle and drew his Zhan Dao, charging toward Jin Xiangwen, who was attempting to flee with a bag slung over his shoulder.
For Jin Xiangwen, this seemed like an opportune moment to escape. His older brother, Jin Xiangwu, was struggling to hold off Bai Xu Chang and others who had realized their intentions. However, Bai Xu Chang was stretched thin, and dealing with the remaining thirty or so opponents—each skilled in Pulse Breathing Technique—was no easy task.
Seizing this chance, Jin Xiangwen aimed to quickly lead a few subordinates away. As long as they could get out of there, they would have a shot at reaching the safe zone where someone would be waiting for them.
They were just one step away from the Special Training Camp.
But for Lu Fei Fan, this moment presented an unparalleled opportunity!
In less than ten seconds, Lu Fei Fan appeared before Jin Xiangwen on the rugged terrain of the mountain.
The Fang Tooth Battle Blade in his hand blocked the way aggressively, causing Jin Xiangwen to freeze momentarily. He never expected that someone would dare to confront him.
"Are you the one who fired the gun?" Jin Xiangwen asked coldly, glaring at Lu Fei Fan.
Lu Fei Fan did not respond; instead, he swung his blade and charged forward. Jin Xiangwen took a step back, and two of his subordinates drew their Zhan Dao to meet the attack.
Lu Fei Fan's Fang Tooth Battle Blade traced an arc in the air, skillfully dodging the strikes from the two men. He slashed at their thighs, and then with a sweeping motion of the blade's back, he knocked them out cold.
Stepping forward, Lu Fei Fan faced four more subordinates of Jin Xiangwen who lined up behind him, all brandishing their weapons and staring at Lu Fei Fan.
Jin Xiangwen glanced at Lu Fei Fan and then turned to flee in another direction.
