The bizarre scene before Hong Xin left her utterly astonished.
What on earth was happening?
The black dog lay motionless on the ground, lifeless.
Hong Xin summoned all her strength once more, her clothes billowing as waves of energy surged from her body. Countless threads converged into red lines that shot toward Lu Fei Fan.
Lu Fei Fan suddenly turned to face Hong Xin, and the threads formed a tangled mass that enveloped him layer upon layer. The speed was astonishing; in the blink of an eye, Lu Fei Fan found himself trapped within a sphere of red threads, resembling a ball. Inside the sphere, loud crashing sounds echoed as if something was violently colliding.
Yet Hong Xin did not relent. She continued to layer the energy threads, wrapping the Red Sphere tighter, like a seamstress at work. She even aimed to compress the space within the thread ball, hoping to crush this madman into a pulp.
This wasn’t about avenging the black dog; she sensed danger. If she didn’t eliminate this lunatic, she would likely be in peril herself.
However, things did not unfold as she had anticipated.
Whoosh!
The tightly wrapped mass of red energy began to spin wildly, smashing into two nearby trees and uprooting the soil beneath it. Hong Xin's red energy threads became entangled and chaotic, creating a dizzying spectacle.
Suddenly, the thread mass rolled toward Hong Xin with ferocious force.
A dominating power struck her, sending Hong Xin flying back to where she had stood moments before.
Bang!
A violent collision reverberated through the air.
Da Shuo, wielding dual gun blades, was sent hurtling backward, and both blades shattered mid-air into four pieces.
With a thunderous crash, Da Shuo fell to the ground. He struggled to rise, but the wildly rolling red ball slammed into him, leaving him motionless.
"I will kill you!" Hong Xin screamed in a frenzy.
The Red Ball spun toward her.
Bang!
Hong Xin was also knocked away, crashing against a tree before collapsing to the ground. She gritted her teeth against the pain, but ultimately fell flat, no longer moving.
The frantically spinning red ball in the center began to slow down, gradually coming to a halt as the red threads slowly dissipated.
But something else within that ball was moving faster.
Crack!
Something pierced through the tightly wrapped energy of the red ball and tore it open.
In a berserk state, Lu Fei Fan pried apart the threads that had ensnared him. He sniffed the air around him, sensing that someone was missing.
Indeed, while Lu Fei Fan was engaged in battle with Hong Xin and the others, Xie Yuanbai had vanished without a trace, clearly having escaped.
Though he had lost an arm, reattaching it was not difficult with current medical technology; it would simply diminish his strength for a time.
At this moment, Xie Yuanbai clutched his severed arm in his mouth while using his left hand to press a cloth against the stump of his right arm. His face was pale and devoid of color. He glanced at the rescue Fighter Jet flying overhead, then with a furrowed brow and beads of sweat on his forehead, he made his way toward the distant rescue location.
For him, survival was paramount. Once he healed, he would seek revenge!
He had probably walked for two hours when he encountered a rescue team conducting a mountain rescue assessment. In the end, he found himself lying on a rescue helicopter, being urgently transported to a temporary battlefield medical center for treatment. However, he couldn't help but feel a sense of loss as he gazed at the hunting ground that was gradually receding beneath him.
In his heart, he silently vowed that what he had lost today, he would surely reclaim in the future! The anger surging within his chest could not be quelled by the roar of the helicopter's engine.
In the forest.
After losing the presence of Xie Yuanbai, Lu Fei Fan fell into a toxic state. He ran several kilometers, personally slaughtering a pack of Ironhorn Wolves, yet he could not calm the chaotic energy swirling within him.
Indeed, his cells felt like an army besieging his mind, but amidst this turmoil, a chip in his brain was continuously emitting strands of clear energy that washed outwards like tides, purifying all the toxins attempting to invade his body.
The purified toxins were slowly absorbed by the chip, transforming into its energy. It began to accumulate power and gradually developed the ability to confront those toxins head-on. A battle between two forces was taking place within him.
The complex Energy Patterns on the chip surged forth with a powerful impact, like an electric center releasing energy outward. Pure Golden Energy flowed within him, akin to a long-dormant army of tigers and wolves, sweeping away the toxic forces that had been rampaging throughout his body in an instant.
The tide of battle against the toxins began to turn; they started to eliminate all traces of poison from head to toe and repaired the damaged bodily functions and energy cells one by one.
Lu Fei Fan now felt parched and experienced an instinctual thirst for water. Using his sense of smell, he dashed through the forest, stumbling and suffering until he finally found a water source. Without hesitation, he plunged his head into it.
Eventually, unable to resist any longer, he jumped into the pool. Moments later, bubbles began to rise continuously from the water's surface. Lu Fei Fan submerged himself in the pool as if it were boiling; steam slowly rose from it. This previously cold pool transformed into a bubbling hot spring.
To make matters worse, the water gradually changed from clear to black. The thick blackness caused all living creatures in the pool to float lifelessly to the surface.
Time passed—how long exactly, he did not know—before Lu Fei Fan burst forth from the water and instinctively made his way into a thicket where he sat cross-legged.
Above him in the trees, a spider descended slowly on its silk thread and began spinning webs above his head. Soon after, another spider landed on his shoulder, followed by a third on his thigh, then a fourth and fifth…
The spiders began to cover Lu Fei Fan with their silk threads. Initially forming vague outlines where one could still see a human figure, as more threads layered upon each other, Lu Fei Fan sitting there became enveloped in a Cocoon.
It appeared as if a gigantic White Cocoon stood eerily in the forest. Eventually, this Cocoon extended numerous threads connecting it to nearby trees—haphazardly intertwined and crisscrossing—creating an intricate web that transformed this area into a spider's domain.
In the heart of the Spider Territory, Lu Fei Fan found himself surrounded by a magnificent Cocoon that seemed to draw nourishment from the surrounding trees and soil. The entire Spider Web glimmered with vibrant colors, shrouded in a delicate mist.
Whether it was for camouflage or some other reason, the area covered by the Spider Web exuded an aura of danger, causing nearby beasts and monsters to steer clear. Humans, upon seeing the dense, spine-chilling Spider Web that crisscrossed and blocked their paths, naturally chose to detour rather than waste time clearing this territory.
As night fell, stars sprinkled across the sky twinkled brightly.
Countless insects began to chirp, heralding the arrival of a lively night.
Life alternates between day and night, encompassing birth and death, youth and age. This cycle creates a vibrant world, rich with both warmth and danger, nourished by light and shadow.
In the forest, within the territory blanketed by Spider Webs, a faint pulse echoed—a soft thud followed by several rhythmic beats that began to resonate from the center of the Spider Web.
Droplets of water clung to the layers of Spider Webs, shaken loose by the pulsing rhythm. Occasionally, spiders scurried past as if eager to escape.
The central Spider Web began to glow softly in the night, flickering in brightness and dimness, quickening and slowing in tempo—all controlled by the heartbeat of the Cocoon at its center.
After an unknown number of rhythmic beats in the darkness, the surrounding Spider Webs gradually softened before dissolving entirely into a milky liquid that pooled on the ground, absorbed by the soil. Miraculously, seeds buried within began to sprout tender shoots.
The heart-like Cocoon at the center revealed itself as it vibrated with a heartbeat that resonated like a drum. After some time, the heartbeat slowed and eventually ceased. With a crack, it began to split open; a foot and then a hand emerged from the fissure before something crawled out.
Lu Fei Fan stood bewildered beneath the night sky in the forest. Something was continuously shedding from his body with a rustling sound. He raised his hand to inspect it—pieces of grayish-yellow skin were flaking off. It wasn’t just his hands; his face was shedding too, along with his neck and every part of his body, revealing fragile shells that crumbled like powder.
What was happening? Hadn’t he been poisoned?
He hurried forward until he found a pond. Peering through the darkness at his reflection, he noticed little had changed; despite the peeling skin, his face appeared intact—if anything, it looked even paler.
Could it be an illusion? He glanced around but saw no significant issues. Touching his face with relief, he sat beside the pond and silently celebrated.
"Thank goodness I’m not disfigured," he murmured to himself.
He sat by the pond, beginning to recall the events that had transpired.
Hadn't he been poisoned by Xie Yuanbai with the Heart of the Poison Nest Spider King? The poison gradually took effect, and in the end, he completely lost his memory of what happened…
How did he end up here? Wait, it seemed like he had just emerged from a spider cocoon?
He went back to look for that cocoon. The broken cocoon was still there, split into two halves, but its color had turned gray, resembling withered and lifeless vegetation.
Could it be that he had successfully endured the poison and gained a rebirth?
A spark of energy surged in his mind, and Lu Fei Fan suddenly felt a sense of awareness, as if he understood something…
It would be best to erase all traces of these cocoons; otherwise, if someone discovered that he had crawled out of one, wouldn’t they see him as a monster?
Thus, following his thoughts, the Pulse Energy within him slowly began to rise like mist, swirling around his body. It gathered above Lu Fei Fan's head and suddenly started to condense into a glowing energy sphere…
