Lu Fei Fan felt as if his body was about to explode, like a volcano filled with seething lava. The intense energy surged violently within him, rampaging and wreaking havoc, as if it were completely destroying his meridians.
From the moment he consumed the Heart of the Poison Nest Spider King, he knew it had to be toxic. He had thought he could suppress the poison with his own techniques, but the toxin was so overwhelmingly powerful that it broke through Lu Fei Fan's defenses in an instant.
Even though it was merely a juvenile Poison Nest Spider King, the toxicity of its Heart was enough to sweep away Lu Fei Fan's Pulse Energy like a flood. In the face of such a formidable invader, his Pulse Energy felt utterly insignificant.
In this world, overwhelming power could shatter many orders and reshape them into one's own.
The corrosive destruction of the poison made Lu Fei Fan acutely aware of this fact. He struggled between extremes, one moment feeling as if he were being scorched by fire, and the next as if he were plunging into an icy abyss, the cold gnawing at his bones.
He felt as though his heart was in so much pain that he could hardly breathe. He ran wildly through the forest, tumbling and crashing into trees, his body alternating between flushed red and icy cold.
Many birds and beasts saw this crazed figure and instinctively avoided him. Even several hunters they encountered stepped back in fear at Lu Fei Fan's furious roars and the green-black veins that bulged grotesquely beneath his skin.
Lu Fei Fan did not fear death; however, such a painful demise was undoubtedly a torment, a true suffering.
In his mind, he longed to tear Xie Yuanbai to shreds. Rage fueled his screams; even though his throat was raw and hoarse from shouting, he only wanted to vent. Grabbing hold of a tree, his nails instantly grew hard as iron, easily clawing deep grooves into the thick trunk and leaving behind wild, beast-like claw marks.
His rampage left many trees marred with these claw prints. To an unsuspecting observer, it might have appeared as if a terrifying battle had ravaged this once-peaceful forest.
Eventually, the poison had completely taken over every part of his body. He could no longer control himself; pure animal instinct drove him into a frenzy, destroying everything in his path. Even when he encountered a group of Rhinoceros Beasts that sought to devour him, Lu Fei Fan's astonishing claws dispatched them effortlessly.
Blood stained the ground as it mixed with the dirt beneath him, along with his disheveled hair and tattered clothing. His eyes were now completely clouded with chaos; at this moment, Lu Fei Fan had transformed into a wild beast beyond control.
The Heart within him and his internal organs began to blacken as the toxin consumed all of his normal functions. Just as his body seemed on the brink of collapse, there remained a pure region deep within Lu Fei Fan's brain. In that space lay a nearly transparent Golden Chip connected to the surrounding meridians, occasionally flashing with energy that froze and washed away the encroaching toxins.
But the toxins continued to multiply, like an overwhelming army surrounding this last bastion of purity. If they completely breached this sanctuary, they would finish their savage invasion and destroy everything in their path.
Yet that peculiar chip bore intricate patterns reminiscent of vast galaxies, faintly radiating mysterious power. It seemed to sense the imminent threat and began to slowly sever its connections with the surrounding meridians as if falling into a slumber, flickering in and out of existence—perhaps brewing some kind of storm…
Xie Yuanbai swung his long knife, cleaving through a tree that blocked their path. With Da Shuo leading the way, the black dog and Hong Xin followed closely behind. Originally, Xie Yuanbai intended to leave, but as they progressed along the path, he noticed the trail of destruction left by Lu Fei Fan—trees and vegetation torn apart in a shocking display of power. This sight piqued Xie Yuanbai's curiosity.
He decided to pursue Lu Fei Fan to see for himself what had become of this person who had been poisoned—was he dead, or had he gone mad?
After all, Xie Yuanbai was the first to consume the Heart of the Poison Nest Spider King. Was it possible for him to survive such an ordeal? It was no joke; from what he learned from his sister, the Heart of the Poison Nest Spider Emperor could produce toxins potent enough to kill thousands.
Yet Lu Fei Fan had consumed it alone and somehow hadn’t died immediately. Instead, he was rampaging and destroying everything in sight. If he was still alive, capturing him as a pet Lie Hound might not be a bad idea; at least he would be useful for killing.
As they navigated through the forest marked by chaotic claw marks, they stumbled upon a patch of wild grass where they found Lu Fei Fan lying in disarray, looking like a filthy beggar or madman.
He lay there, oblivious to life or death.
Xie Yuanbai hesitated for a moment before stepping forward with his curved knife. He kicked Lu Fei Fan lightly but received no response.
Feeling slightly more at ease, Xie Yuanbai crouched down and used his knife to gently prod Lu Fei Fan's cheek back and forth. The pallor of his face resembled that of a corpse, lifeless and devoid of color.
Disappointment washed over him; it seemed his hopes of taming Lu Fei Fan as a battle pet or Lie Hound were dashed. He had clung to the hope that perhaps he hadn’t died and that madness alone would suffice, but it appeared that death had claimed him after all.
With a sigh, Xie Yuanbai shook his head in amusement, dispelling those unrealistic thoughts from his mind.
It seemed he had been foolish to think that someone weaker than himself could withstand the supreme toxin of the Poison Nest Spider King.
Even a warrior of great strength would likely struggle to survive such potent poison.
Having dismissed these impractical ideas, Xie Yuanbai turned to leave.
But when he saw Hong Xin and Da Shuo staring at him with wide eyes, their expressions filled with horror as if they had seen a ghost, he wondered if there was something wrong with him. He checked himself from head to toe but found nothing unusual in the forest. Suddenly, a thought struck him like a bolt of lightning. He turned his head sharply and saw a pale face staring blankly at him, rolling its eyes.
“Ah!” Xie Yuanbai screamed and took a half step back, nearly scaring the life out of himself!
Lu Fei Fan stood there like a walking corpse, his symptoms of poisoning and disheveled appearance making him look no different from a ghost. Even Xie Yuanbai was drenched in cold sweat from the fright. The key question was, when had he gotten up? He hadn’t noticed at all!
Just thinking about it sent chills down his spine. Could it be… a zombie?
Before he could react, Lu Fei Fan's hand shot out like lightning towards Xie Yuanbai. Xie Yuanbai raised his twin blades to block!
Bang—
Xie Yuanbai was sent flying by the immense force, crashing directly into a tree with a loud thud.
Lu Fei Fan lunged at him like a beast targeting its prey, springing toward Xie Yuanbai, who had just managed to prop himself up but hadn’t yet fully stood. Dazed, Xie Yuanbai shook his head but couldn’t react in time before he saw Lu Fei Fan charging at him on all fours like a wild animal, kicking up dirt as he moved with unstoppable momentum.
Clang!
Da Shuo appeared just in time in front of Xie Yuanbai, his dual guns raised to block the incoming assault from Lu Fei Fan.
Lu Fei Fan’s claws lashed out in rapid succession, striking at Da Shuo as he defended against the ferocious onslaught. The clash between the sharp claws and Da Shuo's Double Blades sparked fiercely.
However, Lu Fei Fan's attack only intensified.
The force of his assault was akin to that of a frenzied beast on the rampage. With his hands and feet on the ground and his body arched, he continuously leaped forward to attack, moving as swiftly as lightning. The wind from his claws swept over Da Shuo like a torrential storm.
Da Shuo struggled to hold his ground but was overwhelmed. Thud, thud, thud—he sustained several deep claw marks across his body. The speed of those strikes was terrifyingly fast. His robust frame splattered with blood mist from Da Peng as he barely managed to thrust his Double Blades into the frenzied beast. Yet, he was still knocked away, groaning in pain as he collapsed to the ground, clearly suffering severe injuries.
"Die!" Xie Yuanbai shouted as he drew his Energy Gun, aiming it at Lu Fei Fan.
Bang!
In a flash, Lu Fei Fan dodged the attack and appeared right in front of him, his terrifying face with closed eyes almost touching Xie Yuanbai's nose.
Xie Yuanbai's eyes widened in disbelief as he struggled to keep up with the speed of this Fellow, feeling a surge of fear. He attempted to swing his curved knife to strike the person before him, but just as he initiated the fierce blade wind, he suddenly felt a chill in his right arm followed by a searing heat.
Puff.
Da Peng's blood sprayed out, and his entire hand flew away, landing with a thud on the ground.
"Ah—"
Xie Yuanbai screamed in agony, quickly using Pulse Energy to seal the wound on his right arm to prevent excessive blood loss and fainting.
Just as Lu Fei Fan was about to attack the injured and retreating Xie Yuanbai again, he felt something tugging at his feet. Several red threads, like venomous snakes, tightly bound his legs.
Lu Fei Fan's face, pale and resembling that of a zombie with closed eyes, turned towards Hong Xin, who was currently engaged in a real-time mental Ability.
Hong Xin immediately felt a sense of crisis and fear wash over him. What was happening with this person? He looked neither dead nor insane; instead, he fought like a wild beast, displaying combat prowess that even Xie Yuanbai and Da Shuo could not match!
Nearby, the black dog wielded an Energy Submachine Gun, continuously spraying bullets towards Lu Fei Fan. Energy Bullets struck the ground, kicking up clouds of dust. Lu Fei Fan neither dodged nor was hit by the bullets; instead, he deflected them effortlessly with his claws.
Yet, as his hands attempted to move again, those Hong Si ensnared him further. It was reminiscent of being bound on the torture rack while Xie Yuanbai poisoned him; that humiliation instantly transformed into terrifying rage as he let out a furious roar.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
The sound was like the crisp snap of a broken string.
Hong Xin felt as if he had been struck by a giant hammer, and he spat out a mouthful of blood.
The black dog was taken aback, unable to believe what he had just witnessed. He exclaimed, "How is this possible?"
Indeed, the Mind Weaver's abilities were typically difficult to break unless the opponent was a stronger Mind Weaver or an unmatched Empowered Individual.
However, what happened next was even more surprising for both Hong Xin and the black dog. Lu Fei Fan suddenly opened his mouth and shot forth a stream of white substance that pierced through the black dog standing in front of him, who was holding a gun!
Though the black dog couldn't see it, he looked down to see something penetrating his chest, shattering his heart!
He stared blankly around him before his body fell backward.
Lu Fei Fan swiftly retracted the white substance, and Hong Xin's eyes widened in shock as he realized what it was.
That thing was...
Jiang Si!
