The Morning Star emerged from the east, its faint light insufficient to dispel the lingering shadows of the night. 0

The sounds of gunfire in the hunting grounds were noticeably fewer than during the night, yet they still echoed sporadically. The dozens of rescue teams that had been busy at Monster Base throughout the night finally received a brief respite. 0

At the Eighteenth Field Temporary Hospital, located at the northwest exit of the base, an open square was filled with makeshift ventilated tents. Inside, rows of battlefield medical beds were occupied by wounded individuals moaning in pain. Medical personnel in rescue uniforms hurried back and forth, and the lights in the adjacent emergency surgical rooms burned all night without interruption. 0

As dawn approached, several doctors were assisted out by nurses from within. A new batch of doctors and nurses, having completed their rest, took over their posts and continued to work tirelessly on the patients who had just come out of emergency care. 0

This temporary Battlefield Hospital and its emergency surgical rooms numbered over a dozen at this base. Various injuries were treated here; initially, there were many candidates injured while battling ferocious beasts, but gradually, cases of gunshot wounds and blast injuries increased. This indicated that the actual hunting grounds had transformed into a deadly arena. 0

The survival rate for those rescued in the early hours was alarmingly low—forty-seven percent! 0

This was a terrifying statistic. Those lying in the patient tents felt fortunate to have escaped with their lives alongside their friends. Otherwise, they too might have fallen victim to that hellish slaughterhouse. 0

Underneath one of the tents, Dali had received treatment for his injuries, which were not severe; he was merely unconscious and mumbling strange things like, "Cui Cui, your butt is so big—let me touch it..." 0

With A Teng's assistance, battlefield medical personnel conducted an examination on the unconscious Dali. They looked at this towering figure with a strange expression, as if assessing livestock, then exchanged bewildered glances with A Teng. 0

After declaring that he was fine, they shook their heads and walked away. 0

When Dali finally woke up, he rubbed his head and realized he was lying in the temporary emergency square of the base. Eventually, hunger gnawed at him until A Teng went to fetch some food. Outside the medical square, three mess teams took turns providing meals. There was always a line in front of the mess tent as people queued for food while inside, team members continuously transformed packages of supplies into delicious meals. 0

Every consumed resource was measured by the ton—a daunting figure for this island. Fortunately, supply ships from the Free Federation continuously delivered provisions to the brightly lit port, ensuring that this frighteningly resource-consuming Monster Base received timely replenishments. 0

Military vessels docked at the port never diminished in number day or night; troop vehicles came and went in a bustling manner. Everything appeared orderly amidst this heavy workload. 0

However, compared to the actual combat zones along the coastal defense frontlines, this place felt much safer and more comfortable. Many veterans wore smiles as they puffed on cigarettes and cursed jovially, appearing full of energy—almost like they were on vacation—at least without worrying about artillery shells falling from above or monstrous creatures descending upon them. 0

Dali lay on his hospital bed watching nurses come and go with medicine. He wore a mischievous grin until he spotted A Teng returning with food meant for four people and immediately sat up. 0

The warm sesame oil bread, eggs, and the fragrant, greasy soy milk with fried dough sticks, along with various porridge and pastries, were devoured by A Teng and Dali. 0

"Has Huahua come out yet?" Dali asked, his words muffled by the food in his mouth. 0

"No, I've asked the registrar at the exit seven or eight times, but I haven't seen him come out," A Teng replied, a frown on his face as worry crept in. 0

"Could something have happened?" Dali paused, a sorrowful expression crossing his face. Suddenly, he stopped eating and cried out, "Wuwu, he was supposed to take me to those romantic places to flirt with girls..." 0

A Teng felt an urge to strangle him. However, returning to the topic at hand, the hunting assessment ground had turned into a terrifying place. "Something happened inside; the assessment has changed. The Assessment Committee has set up a group of monster cards. Whoever can kill those card monsters will qualify for entry into the Special Training Camp!" 0

"Special Training Camp?" Dali stopped in his tracks; it seemed he had never heard of this training camp before. 0

"Yeah, I've heard that place is filled with all sorts of perverts. We should just stay out of it; Huahua is probably thinking about it already." 0

"I heard from other candidates that anyone who comes out of the Special Training Camp becomes a target for major corporate families fighting to recruit them. They don't have to worry about income; making thousands or even tens of thousands a year is no problem. If worse comes to worst, they can join the Free Federation's military corps and their families can enjoy free medical care," A Teng continued. 0

Dali nodded. "We only passed this Practical Assessment and became Fusers thanks to him. Although we’re not exactly Big Shots, if he can’t get into that Special Training Camp, wherever he goes, we’ll go too." 0

"Exactly. This Fellow has it tough; his dad is still lying in the hospital. I'm just afraid that if something happens to him..." A Teng trailed off, casting his gaze toward the distant combat hunting ground where sporadic gunfire could be heard. 0

In the sky above, a transport Fighter Jet thundered past, clearly heading to the hunting ground for rescue operations. 0

As dawn broke, the busy rescue teams began their work again. 0

In the mist-covered hunting ground, the remaining thousands were fighting fiercely over the monsters listed on the Card Deck released by the Assessment Committee. 0

On one side of the forest, Xie Yuanbai and Da Shuo suddenly found that the blood trail they had been following had disappeared. 0

The two exchanged a knowing glance and searched both sides for several dozen meters before regrouping together along their path. 0

“It's gone,” Da Shuo frowned. 0

Xie Yuanbai slammed his fist into a tree, causing the bark to splinter and fly off from the force of his anger. 0

“I refuse to believe this! He must be nearby. Keep searching!” 0

With that, Xie Yuanbai turned and continued to look for Lu Fei Fan's traces. He couldn't believe that a living person could just vanish into thin air, especially not an injured one right in front of him. It felt like a slap in the face, and he knew that when he reported this to his sister, she would undoubtedly scold him mercilessly. 0

Meanwhile, Lu Fei Fan had indeed disappeared without a trace. After Xie Yuanbai and Da Shuo left, he cautiously emerged from a leafy area of the Swamp Mire, where he had been hiding. He looked like a mud-covered figure, using his Pulse Energy to sense the surroundings. Once he confirmed that Xie Yuanbai and Da Shuo had truly moved away, he quietly limped in the opposite direction. 0

Half an hour later, Lu Fei Fan found a lush thicket to hide in. He scanned the area and felt a momentary sense of safety that allowed him to catch his breath and tend to his wounds. 0

Using his fangs, he carefully cut open the muddy camouflage pants, revealing a gaping wound on his leg caused by a Tiger Tooth Trap. A row of neat bite marks resembled bloody holes left by a beast, deep enough to see bone, with crimson blood oozing continuously. 0

Lu Fei Fan hastily stuffed some herbs he had gathered into his mouth. The foul-tasting, bitter plants nearly made him gag, and he spat them out into his palm before applying them to his wound. He repeated this process until he tore off a strip of cloth from his shirt to bandage the injury. 0

Next, he rummaged through the backpack he had taken. He pulled out an energy potion, twisted it open, and poured it into his mouth. The continuous flow of energy dissolved in his mouth helped restore some of his strength. After a while, the potion would replenish half of his depleted Pulse Energy, which would be effective for stopping the bleeding from his wounds. 0

Following that, he found something damp in the backpack. As he pulled it out, he was shocked to discover it was a strange Heart covered in vine-like veins. To his astonishment, as he held this lifeless Heart in his hand, it began to beat in rhythm with his own heart! 0

Wait a minute—how could this dead monster's Heart react like this? 0

Curious, Lu Fei Fan tried slowing down his heartbeat to observe the Heart in his hand. To his disbelief, it also slowed its rhythm accordingly. When he allowed his heartbeat to quicken again, the Heart matched its pace with every beat. 0

What on earth is happening? 0

Just as he was about to return the Heart to the Military Backpack, a sharp whistling sound pierced through the air! 0

He turned abruptly towards the source of the chilling sound and saw a silver energy bullet hurtling toward him like a tangible serpent. 0

Lu Fei Fan swung the fang in his hand to slash at the gun barrel slicing through the air toward him! 0

Bang! 0

The sound of a shockwave echoed in the air, and Lu Fei Fan felt as if his entire hand was about to be rendered useless. A tingling sensation coursed through him, leaving him momentarily unsure of how badly he was injured. He couldn't afford to dwell on it; clutching his Military Backpack, he rolled out of the bushes. Bang! 0

The bushes were instantly shredded by bullets from the Sniper Rifle, countless broken branches and foliage scattering around him, a stark reminder that had he hesitated even for a moment, his body would have been riddled with terrifying wounds. 0

He took off running, but it felt as though something was holding his feet back. His body lurched forward and crashed to the ground. Before he could get back up, an unseen force lifted him and slammed him down again. The impact sent pain shooting through him, causing Lu Fei Fan to cough up a mouthful of blood. 0

In agony, he tried to rise, but someone rushed over and struck him on the head with the butt of a rifle. A ringing sound filled his ears, leaving his mind blank for a brief moment as his backpack was yanked away. 0

After what felt like an eternity, a foot like a boulder pressed down on his chest. Following that foot, Lu Fei Fan caught sight of a face—a tall, muscular young man. He remembered this person being referred to as Da Shuo by Xie Yuanbai. 0

"Indeed, you are here," the man said. 0

Lu Fei Fan looked back and saw two figures standing on the ground in the inverted world before him—one man and one woman. 0
