In the desolate forest ahead, a thick white miasma enveloped the surrounding trees and marshes. Layers of cobwebs, resembling cotton candy, were scattered everywhere, covering the dead tree trunks and branches like a wild vegetation, creating a true Spider Territory.
Within these areas filled with webs, large spiders of various shapes crawled in and out under the night sky, sending chills down one's spine and making one reluctant to enter.
Aside from these creatures, the branches or webs strung between the dead trees hung with numerous cocoon-like prey, leaving one to wonder whether they were humans or other beings that had become food reserves for the spiders in this territory.
However, the more dangerous a place is, the greater the temptation of profit, which draws people to venture forth.
At this moment, in the center of this Spider Territory, a vividly patterned spider covered in fur and possessing eight massive limbs—its body as large as an elephant—was leading seven or eight other spiders in a fierce battle against four or five humans clad in Tactical Armor Vests.
Unfortunately, this was not the Poison Nest Spider King; otherwise, many would have rushed in.
This was the reason why most of those observing from the periphery chose to remain hidden and watch.
The team engaged in combat with that leading spider consisted of three men and two women. Two strong young men wielding Zhan Dao shields fought bravely at the front, while three women behind them—armed with bows, Energy Rifles, or crossbows—constantly exchanged positions to maintain their firepower.
The spider's limbs were indeed sharp melee weapons, and its skin was as flexible as battle armor. The two young men at the front coordinated their movements expertly; after switching roles in offense and defense, their Blade Shields effectively blocked the spider's limb attacks.
The three women behind were all skilled in ranged attacks. While none were exceptionally powerful individually, their combined firepower managed to suppress the Spider Swarm. One by one, spiders fell as they surged from all around, desperately trying to break through the shield-like defense of the two young men.
The two shield-wielding youths swung their Zhan Dao blades as spider limbs slashed or pierced toward them; they always managed to withstand the blows in perfect unison.
As time passed in this intense battle, it gradually tilted in favor of humanity. The advanced firepower and smooth coordination of the humans proved superior. The Spider Swarm suffered heavy losses on the outskirts; it seemed quite enraged. The agile limbs of the spiders danced like sharp weapons, creating showers of sparks against the two young men's shields.
The three women behind had no choice but to unleash all their firepower against this furious Spider Territory, even deploying three or four Energy Grenades. Boom! Boom! Boom!
The limbs of the Spider Territory were blown off, yet it still used its remaining legs to support its body. Its desperate struggles were futile, and as the Human Squad slowed their assault, they surrounded it in a circle, waiting to deliver the final blow.
At that moment, a gunshot rang out from the perimeter, shattering the tense atmosphere.
Bang!
Half of the Spider Territory's head exploded, sending liquid and brain matter flying. It didn’t die immediately; instead, it let out a furious roar, desperately pushing up its abdomen, which began to swell. Its mottled body inflated like a balloon!
“Not good!”
“Get down…”

With a startling explosion, as the spider met its end, its massive swollen body burst like an overfilled water balloon, splattering thick liquid in all directions. The two people at the front quickly raised their shields to shield themselves from the onslaught.
However, the three women responsible for ranged attacks were not so fortunate.
The three women stood frozen in shock. Two of them had half of their shoulders and even parts of their abdomens corroded as if by sulfuric acid, standing there emitting white smoke. They let out a few agonized cries before collapsing to the ground.
The third woman appeared even more horrifying; her head seemed to have been impacted by something, half of it melted away. The shock on her remaining face lingered until she fell, unable to believe she had died in such a manner.
One of them only had her arm melted away. She dropped her weapon and clutched her half-melted arm, revealing blackened bone beneath. A Male Companion approached her and swiftly swung his Zhan Dao, cleanly severing her damaged arm. Then, with practiced ease, he tore open a rescue pack and poured Rescue Serum onto the wound to stop the bleeding.
One of the male companions rushed towards the direction of the gunfire, wielding his Blade Shield.
The woman, her face pale, looked at the two fallen female companions on the ground and felt a mix of luck and sorrow. She had lost her two best comrades, and while losing an arm was significant, it was nothing compared to the grief of their loss. As long as she could stop the bleeding, with today's technology, if she returned and was willing to pay a hefty sum to the Battlefield Hospital, regrowing her arm would be just a matter of time.
"Someone is plotting against us!" After her arm was bandaged by her companion, the male companion said gravely.
Earlier, that male companion had already dashed towards the direction from which the gunfire had come, but after a while, there was no sign of him returning. A sense of foreboding settled in his heart; he feared the worst.
"Stay here! I'm going to find Zheng Nan!"
With that, the man grabbed his shield and Zhan Dao and rushed into the forest where his companion had disappeared.
Bang! Bang! Bang!
Suddenly, dense gunfire erupted from within the dark forest.
After a long while, the man who had entered the woods stumbled out, barely able to hold onto his Zhan Dao and shield. He stood there, leaning heavily on his body, using his last ounce of strength to shout something towards the female companion.
The female companion's face turned pale as she recognized the two words he desperately wanted to convey!
Run!
Bang——
A silver flash pierced through the man's head, splattering blood everywhere, and he collapsed into a pool of crimson.
The female companion turned pale with fright, gritting her teeth before turning to flee.
From the dark forest emerged a four-man team led by Xie Yuanbai.
"Running away so fast. Hmph, what a pity; no matter how quick you are, you can't outrun my gun!" Xie Yuanbai declared, kneeling slightly as he raised his Energy Sniper Rifle. He steadied the rifle's scope, aiming at the woman who was frantically trying to escape.

The gun recoiled as a streak of light shot forth from the sniper rifle like a bolt of lightning. However, the woman seemed to have luck on her side; she stumbled over something and fell forward.
The bullet whizzed past her, striking an object ahead—whether it was a tree or something else remained unclear—with a thunderous crash.
Xie Yuanbai felt a surge of anger; he had missed his shot. Unwilling to accept this failure, he re-aligned the night vision crosshairs on the woman as she struggled to get back up.
Beside him, the black dog could no longer watch and pressed down on Xie Yuanbai's Sniper Rifle.
"That's enough." The black dog said sternly, stopping him.
Xie Yuanbai lowered his weapon, puzzled as to why he was being restrained. Eliminating potential threats had always been his style; leaving loose ends only led to endless troubles.
"We're not here just to help you kill people. This is beyond the scope of our agreement," the black dog added, making it clear that he disapproved of Xie Yuanbai's methods and had no intention of becoming like him.
“Alright!” Xie Yuanbai put away the Energy Sniper Rifle and glanced at the Black Dog, his expression revealing extreme displeasure. However, he said nothing more and walked straight ahead.
The Black Dog watched this headstrong individual with a furrowed brow.
“You're making such a fuss; aren't you afraid we won't get paid?” Hong Xin chimed in from behind, his tone ambiguous—was he joking or mocking?
“I trust the reputation of a General,” the Black Dog replied.
Da Shuo nodded beside him, understanding that the General referred to Xie Yuanbai's sister, not the unpredictable Xie Yuanbai himself.
“Let’s go. Our prey should be nearby,” the Black Dog said.
But Da Shuo paused, glancing to the left with a thoughtful expression.
“What’s wrong?” the Black Dog asked him.
“I just have this feeling that someone was watching us from over there, but that sensation has disappeared now,” Da Shuo replied.
“Hmph. It’s not just over there; there are several directions here where people are watching us,” the Black Dog sneered, deliberately scanning several spots in the darkness before turning coldly to leave.
Da Shuo and Hong Xin followed him, while those hidden in the shadowy woods remained silent. Some quietly slipped away from the increasingly dangerous Spider Territory, while others, like a pack of wolves, trailed behind, ready to strike when their target was vulnerable.
Lu Fei Fan was one of these lone wolves among the pack.
He had initially been hiding in a thicket of bushes just to watch the commotion. But when he saw Xie Yuanbai fire that shot, his alertness skyrocketed. The pain in his back flared up again as he realized that the bullet wound he had sustained was likely the work of Xie Yuanbai, based on the trajectory and sound of that Pulse Energy round.
It truly was a narrow path for enemies. Originally intending to watch the excitement and take advantage of the chaos, Lu Fei Fan quietly made up his mind to settle the score.
Seeing them enter Spider Territory, Lu Fei Fan could surmise that Xie Yuanbai and his companions were clearly also after the Poison Nest Spider King. Since that was the case, he would not easily let go of their trail.
He concealed himself in the darkness, deliberately keeping his distance while following Xie Yuanbai and the others. He dared not get too close, as two of Xie Yuanbai's companions had a keen sense of their surroundings. In less than ten minutes, they had already turned around and eliminated several would-be ambushers. Especially that woman; she vanished silently into the night, only for screams to echo from the forest moments later. When she reappeared, she casually tossed her hair back.
Xie Yuanbai and the black dog were intimidating those who followed them.
