“Instructor, why is there no special reward for second place?” a student, flushed and breathless from running ahead, raised his hand to ask. 0

Many other students were also curious, waiting for the response from the Dog Tooth Club Captain. 0

The captain strolled leisurely, swinging his Dog Tooth Club, and replied, “Did I ever say there would be extra points for the top ten?” 0

“Um… it seems like… no,” the questioning student hesitated before answering honestly. 0

“Exactly. I only mentioned that those in the top ten are eligible to buy a hearty breakfast like lamb chops and roasted chicken legs in the cafeteria,” the Dog Tooth Club Captain said with an innocent expression. 0

“Alright, breakfast time is over. You’re all dismissed. Take the points you just earned and head to the cafeteria. For those who didn’t get breakfast, try again this afternoon.” With that, the Dog Tooth Club Captain led a group of officers away from the rookies and started walking toward the Base Cafeteria. 0

As soon as the candidates realized what was happening, they charged toward the cafeteria like a pack of wolves, determined to seize their breakfast. 0

The Dog Tooth Club Captain followed behind, appearing unhurried. 0

The hungry candidates, who had been rigorously trained all morning, felt they could eat a whole cow. As they burst into the cafeteria, they were surprised to see several armed guards inside. What was going on? Protecting the cafeteria? It seemed ridiculous. 0

Laughter erupted among them as they crowded around the food counter, their mouths watering at the sight of delicious dishes. There were indeed honey-glazed lamb chops, but in limited quantity, and large roasted chicken legs that smelled irresistible… 0

“I want Honey Glazed Lamb Chops!” 0

“I want Special Roasted Chicken Leg!” 0

“I want Thousand Layer Cake!” 0

“Give me five cups of milk!” 0

In an instant, the students at the counter were clamoring to place their orders, while two officers behind the counter waved their hands in response. 0

"Line up, line up!" 0

But it seemed as if no one heard, and the chaos continued. The sound of a soldier at the side window cocking his weapon echoed sharply, prompting the disordered candidates to quickly form a long line, showing some sense. 0

Lu Fei Fan stood in the middle of the line with Niu Dali and A Teng, not too far forward or back, but still in a position to grab some good food. The three of them began to rub their hands together, discussing what to eat. 0

"Boss, let's order some lamb chops later to replenish our energy. I’ve exhausted all my strength from drinking milk this morning," A Teng said, swallowing hard. 0

"Yeah, yeah! I want chicken legs!" Niu Dali patted his belly, feeling as if his stomach was about to touch his back. 0

"Hmm, why do I feel like something's off?" Lu Fei Fan stroked his chin, sensing that something wasn’t quite right. 0

"Hey, you must be hungry and losing your mind. What could possibly be wrong? I'm starving; I don’t care. I’m going to feast later—lamb chops, delicious Honey Glazed Lamb Chops, here I come!" A Teng was already licking his lips in anticipation. 0

"Wait, why are they all ordering steamed buns?" Niu Dali suddenly scratched his head as he looked at the candidates in front of them who were receiving their breakfast. 0

"Probably not enough qualifications," A Teng replied confidently with a disdainful expression. "Serves them right for being slow; they deserve to miss out on meat." 0

Before long, it was A Teng, Lu Fei Fan, and Niu Dali's turn. 0

"I want a Special Roasted Chicken Leg!" A Teng rubbed his hands together and pointed at the chicken leg that emitted an enticing aroma. 0

"Thirty points!" the expressionless staff sergeant in charge of serving food replied. 0

"What?" A Teng momentarily failed to comprehend. 0

"One chicken leg costs thirty points!" 0

"Damn it!" 0

“Then what about the Honey Glazed Lamb Chops?” 0

“The Honey Glazed Lamb Chops cost two damn credits!” the officer replied with rare humor. 0

“I…” 0

A Teng couldn’t accept the reality and fainted right at the window. How could they afford that? Sixty credits for one Honey Glazed Lamb Chop, and together they could barely buy half of one… 0

“What about the Thousand Layer Cake?” Dali asked, clinging to the last shred of hope. 0

“Well, that’s cheaper. Twenty credits for a piece,” the officer answered. 0

Dali rolled his eyes and fainted in front of the ordering window as well. 0

Finally, Lu Fei Fan looked at the lavish dishes before him and had to ask with a mournful face, “What can we buy for one star?” 0

“Two steamed buns; soy milk is free outside, so you can fill up,” another officer pointed to a basket full of white steamed buns. 0

“Alright… let’s get two each.” Lu Fei Fan had no choice but to accept this harsh reality. The blow was immense, and the shadow of being toyed with loomed larger in his mind. 0

“Swipe your card,” the officer reminded Lu Fei Fan, prompting him to swipe his star card on the terminal at the window. After three beeps, their star cards were instantly cleared to zero. After one breakfast, the three of them were once again broke. 0

And of course, the culprit behind all this was the Dog-like Captain. After all, being toyed with felt terrible. He was leisurely enjoying breakfast at a table in the corner of the cafeteria with several officers, surrounded by a feast that included Honey Glazed Lamb Chops, chicken legs, milk, and even more delicious food. It all seemed so unfair. 0

Thus, Lu Fei Fan, A Teng, and Niu Dali secretly decided that once they finished their two buns and regained some strength, they would confront this Dog Tooth Club Captain. Little did they know that someone was faster than them. 0

A couple of defiant individuals rushed up to challenge the Dog Tooth Club Captain, but within moments they were beaten down without getting close. The luckier ones were tied up by fully armed soldiers and dragged away; the unfortunate ones were simply thrown out of the cafeteria like human sandbags, without any mercy. 0

Frustrated, the Dog Tooth Club Captain replaced his usual Dog Tooth Club with a gleaming military Combat Knife, placing it prominently on the table. 0

For a moment, Lu Fei Fan, A Teng, and Niu Dali weighed their options, but ultimately they couldn't bring themselves to confront him. Instead, they all decided in unison to go get some soy milk, especially since the meal officer had promised them plenty! 0

"The world is going downhill; it's like a dragon stuck in shallow waters being toyed with by shrimp," A Teng lamented while sipping his soy milk, wearing a mournful expression. "Woe is me, my honey-glazed ribs..." 0

"Let him be strong; let him be strong. The gentle breeze caresses the mountain ridge. Let him be arrogant; let him be arrogant. The bright moon shines over the great river." Lu Fei Fan spoke with righteous indignation, appearing as if he would not stoop to fight for mere grains of rice, yet the rumbling of his stomach betrayed him. 0

"I can't take it anymore; I need another bowl of soy milk." With that, Lu Fei Fan grabbed a bowl and turned toward the soy milk barrel, only to find it surrounded by people. "You beasts! Leave some for me!" he shouted as he pushed his way through. 0

Meanwhile, the ever-hungry Niu Dali had already downed seven or eight bowls of soy milk with remarkable speed. After letting out a burp and wiping his mouth, he slammed his hand on the table in frustration. "Damn it! You could drink ten bowls of this stuff and still not hold back a single pee!" 0

After suffering through an expensive breakfast that morning and taking a break, the Dog Tooth Club Captain gathered the team again in the afternoon. This time he was no longer holding his Dog Tooth Club but was instead walking around with that combat knife in hand, even taking it with him to the restroom. 0

The afternoon training consisted of swimming lessons, requiring ten laps within a set time. 0

During this session, those who couldn't swim were directly dragged by several officers to the diving platform and tossed into the deep end of the pool. After struggling for a while in the water, lifeguards would pull them out only to throw them back in again... This cycle repeated several times until even those who couldn't swim were nearly forced to learn. 0

Despite its bizarre methods, the training style of the Dog Tooth Club was undeniably effective. Watching this captain reminded Lu Fei Fan of his own instructors from a past life—none of them were easy to deal with. The devious ideas brewing in his mind could probably fill an entire book on torturous training techniques. 0

After swimming class concluded, they faced another grueling physical training session. This time it involved team exercises where three members carried logs while running five kilometers around the training ground. 0

Once team training ended, they moved on to push-ups followed by three hundred sprints... 0

The intensity was nearly lethal. Fortunately, Lu Fei Fan managed to keep up while A Teng basically declared himself 'fallen,' ending up lying outside the training area waiting to be carried away. 0

Niu Dali was similarly battered; aside from Lu Fei Fan, no one else could fully endure the session. When they finally returned to their enclosed base dormitory after training, Lu Fei Fan noticed someone just coming back from outside—it was none other than Chu Wei Lan! 0

He suddenly remembered that aside from morning roll call, he hadn't seen Chu Wei Lan join them for any of this brutal training. Had this fellow snuck off somewhere? 0

He was seen chatting with the Dog Tooth Club Captain downstairs, who then waved him off to go upstairs. 0

Surprisingly, there was no punishment or reprimand. What was going on? 0

After Chu Wei Lan went upstairs, he whistled casually as he swaggered past Lu Fei Fan, completely ignoring Lu Fei Fan's puzzled gaze. He even turned back intentionally to glance at Lu Fei Fan's expression, which looked like that of a dead dog, and couldn't help but chuckle. Then, still whistling, he intended to head back to his dormitory but hesitated at the door and turned towards the restroom instead. 0

Just as Lu Fei Fan was about to curse, a shout from the Dog Tooth Captain echoed from downstairs. 0

"Room inspection!" 0

Immediately, the entire dormitory building erupted into chaos as everyone hurried to hide and stash away any contraband. 0

Taking advantage of the Dog Tooth Captain's ascent up the stairs, Lu Fei Fan dashed into his dormitory to grab something and then sprinted towards Chu Wei Lan's room. 0

When the Dog Tooth Club Captain conducted the inspection, Lu Fei Fan pretended to have just returned from the restroom. The Dog Tooth Club Captain merely shot him a glare and meticulously searched his bed three times over without finding anything. Lu Fei Fan remained calm, standing beside him with an air of righteousness, not even glancing in his direction. 0
