When he finished his training, the outside world was still shrouded in darkness. He stretched his limbs, and the popping sounds of his joints made him feel invigorated. 0

He glanced at the clock in the dormitory; it was just past four o'clock, with nearly two or three hours until dawn. 0

Today's training mission had been satisfactorily completed, and he planned to sleep for another couple of hours. 0

As soon as he lay down, he fell into a deep sleep without a single thought. 0

At dawn, the base outside the dormitory was already filled with orderly training chants. While the quiet dormitory remained in slumber, the door was suddenly kicked open with a loud bang. 0

“Time to get up, you lazy pigs!” The intruder was none other than the Captain responsible for their placement yesterday. He still held that large stick in his hand. Seeing them unmoving and still sprawled out, he approached and delivered a heavy blow, eliciting a series of shrill screams that sounded like a pig being slaughtered. 0

He whistled as he walked around, then went next door to blow his whistle again, shouting loudly. 0

“You have three minutes to get dressed and gather downstairs! Anyone who is late will miss breakfast!” 0

With that, he headed downstairs to wait while all the dormitories erupted into chaos. 0

“Who put on my pants?” 0

“Where are my shoes?” 0

“Oh no, my belt! Give it back!” 0

In the midst of the confusion, many people scrambled to get dressed while rushing downstairs. Two minutes was hardly enough time for them to leisurely put on their gear; smart ones naturally ran down first. 0

For someone like Lu Fei Fan, who had been a soldier before, this two-minute dressing challenge was child's play. The Captain had given them three minutes, but Lu Fei Fan managed to get ready in just a minute and a half, even taking a moment to check himself in the mirror. The other seven people in the dormitory stared at him as if he were a monster, collectively throwing him two words: “Freak!” 0

Lu Fei Fan didn’t want to wait for them to finish getting ready, so he opened the door and unexpectedly bumped into someone else who was also surprisingly looking at him. 0

It was Chu Wei Lan. Although he was dressed in military attire, his long black hair still gave him a somewhat delicate and handsome appearance. 0

He was already fully dressed and preparing to head downstairs. Just as he walked past Lu Fei Fan's dormitory door and saw Lu Fei Fan coming out, he couldn’t help but be surprised before heading down. 0

Lu Fei Fan observed Chu Wei Lan; could it be that he had also been a soldier? 0

The two of them almost simultaneously exited the dormitory building. The Captain glanced at his watch and nodded in satisfaction at Lu Fei Fan and Chu Wei Lan’s performance. After another half minute passed, more people began to follow suit, joining the gathering line. 0

When the three minutes were up, the Captain prepared to blow the whistle. A Teng and Niu Dali rushed into the line, but those behind them were not so fortunate; the Captain's whistle signaled that time was up. 0

Nearly a third of the group had failed to complete their tasks, so the Captain looked at those standing outside the line and instructed the Second Lieutenant beside him, “Register these latecomers. Breakfast is canceled.” 0

Once the Second Lieutenant finished taking notes, the Captain gave them a few minutes to tidy up their uniforms. Aside from Lu Fei Fan and Chu Wei Lan, everyone else looked a complete mess—some were missing socks, others wore only one Military Boot, and some didn’t even have their military caps on. 0

After they had straightened themselves out, he announced something important. 0

“From now on, you are all under my assessment. You will do as I say; otherwise, your Aptitude Test qualifications will be revoked, and you’ll be sent home immediately. Anyone who disagrees can pack their bags and leave right now.” 0

Looking at the line, no one moved. The Captain paced with his stick for a moment before continuing, “Good, I’ll take that as no objections. Since you’ve chosen to stay, there are a few things we need to clarify. Come here, Xiao Hui, explain the rules to these rookies.” 0

A tall and thin Lieutenant stepped forward with a grim expression, glancing at the newcomers before instructing several sergeants to distribute white energy cards to Lu Fei Fan and the others. The Lieutenant named Xiao Hui opened a notebook and began explaining: “What you have received is an Energy Accumulation Star Card. From now on, it will record your assessment points. Each star represents ten points; a moon represents one hundred points; a sun represents five hundred points. Completing training tasks assigned by instructors will earn you corresponding points. If your score drops to zero or becomes negative, you will be eliminated and lose your final Aptitude Test qualification.” 0

Once he finished explaining, Xiao Hui closed his notebook and observed that everyone had received their energy cards. 0

Lu Fei Fan held his card; it resembled a soldier's ID card but was equipped with a necklace for soldiers to wear around their necks. It displayed each person's name and number along with a transparent electronic screen showing their accumulated star points. 0

“Let me add a few points,” the Captain said menacingly as he stepped forward with his stick. “Your star cards are not just ordinary point cards; they represent your rank. The higher your stars or moon and sun levels, the more areas of this base will be accessible to you. Conversely, if your rank or points are insufficient, you won’t be allowed in certain areas—like the dining hall… Those with zero stars won’t get any food. Of course, if you have high enough star scores after training, you can even go to the massage building for treatments in the Medical Room when injured; specialized Military Doctors will take care of you…” 0

This explanation excited many of them; they realized that it wasn’t just about missing meals—high scores could lead to better benefits. Consequently, everyone’s spirits lifted, including those who had just lost their breakfast privileges. 0

With the Captain’s words in mind, everyone began to muster their strength to strive for points on their star cards. 0

However, it seemed that the Dog Tooth Club Captain understood these fellows’ psychology well. The morning training started off tough—with one hundred push-ups followed by a ten-kilometer run around the training field. Those who completed it within an hour would earn ten points each—equivalent to one star. 0

Those who failed… would naturally not earn any stars or corresponding points. As for the consequences? The Dog Tooth Club kept that wickedly secret for now, leaving Lu Fei Fan along with Niu Dali and A Teng trembling with cold sweat, sensing an ominous premonition. 0

With a whistle blow, the first grueling training began—one hundred push-ups in place followed by heavy breathing as they struggled through it. For Lu Fei Fan, one hundred push-ups were merely a warm-up; Niu Dali felt no pressure at all either; A Teng was slightly weaker but still managed without much issue. 0

Other rookies with some physical foundation also fared reasonably well; however, those without any fitness training were utterly defeated after one hundred push-ups—they lay on the ground like dead fish for quite some time before catching their breath. By the time they regained their senses, Lu Fei Fan and several others had already completed a lap. 0

As everyone began their ten-kilometer run around the track, over ten minutes had passed. The Dog Tooth Club had two sergeants timing them while he swung his stick and chatted cheerfully with several Young Officers at the edge of the training field, occasionally glancing at the panting rookies. 0

“Is this all you can do after just a few kilometers? Pick up your pace! I’ve arranged for Honey Glazed Lamb Chops, Special Roasted Chicken Legs, Thousand Layer Cake, and warm milk in the dining hall today! The first ten to finish training will get some! If you lag behind later on, there won’t be any left!” The Dog Tooth Club Captain shouted intentionally. 0

Sure enough, after hearing this shout from the Dog Tooth Club Captain, those exhausted rookies suddenly imagined all kinds of delicious Honey Glazed Lamb Chops and roasted chicken legs. Originally looking like they were about to collapse from hunger, they transformed into ravenous wolves as adrenaline surged through them—they gritted their teeth and ran forward with everything they had! 0

Even the underdog A Teng managed to rise, as he and several others ahead of him gasped for breath while shouting, “I want chicken legs, chicken legs, I want chicken legs!” 0

“Lamb chops, lamb chops are mine!” 0

“Chicken legs, chicken legs, I want chicken legs!” 0

Thus, this group of runners began to chase each other. Lu Fei Fan inadvertently found himself caught up in their momentum. Watching these fellows, who seemed somewhat frail but were now running as if their potential had been activated, was truly a sight to behold. They were neck and neck, much to the satisfaction of the Dog Tooth Club Captain nearby. 0

Finally, this group of fellows started to resemble what they were meant to be. It seemed that some tactics were indeed necessary. He chuckled to himself as he ignored Lu Fei Fan and the other rookies who were now desperately competing for their so-called lavish breakfast of chicken legs and lamb chops. 0

Time passed quickly, and by the final sprint, most of the participants had little energy left. As they crossed the finish line, the top ten consisted mainly of those who had managed their pace well and even conserved some energy, with Lu Fei Fan being one of them. 0

He deliberately refrained from activating the Fu Mai Xi Shu technique and relied solely on his physical stamina to complete the training. He felt invigorated and not overly fatigued. A Teng collapsed directly onto the ground with a few other reckless trainees, while Niu Dali went so far as to foam at the mouth while crawling on the ground. 0

The results were quickly tallied. Lu Fei Fan placed eighth, A Teng fought for tenth place, but Dali was less fortunate; most others finished within an hour, with only five exceeding that time limit and thus receiving no rewards. 0

Everyone lined up to collect their points. The officer used a device similar to a card reader to scan each person's star card, depositing their earned points into it. Those who completed the training within an hour each received a star; however… there were no additional rewards for the top ten! 0
