Lu Fei Fan remembered reading a passage during his leisure time in his previous life: 0

——"When a person reaches seventy-five years of age, they cannot help but think of death from time to time; we should not feel uneasy about it. The sun may seem to be setting, but in reality, it is continuously shining." 0

This was a quote from Goethe. He recalled it vividly. 0

It was a saying about death. Having faced death while carrying out special missions, he had deliberately read books on the subject to help him understand the meaning of death. 0

For most people, death is simply an unavoidable part of life, but for a select few, the dark backdrop of death highlights the brilliance of life! 0

Lu Fei Fan felt he belonged to the latter group—he always had and still did. 0

When he saw the enormous snake tail swinging down, he instinctively raised his Sniper Rifle and pulled the trigger without hesitation, aiming at the massive serpent body that blotted out the sun! 0

Bang! 0

The energy beam struck the snake tail like a shooting star, creating a gaping wound in its thick, trunk-like body. Flesh and shattered scales exploded outward, yet this did not halt the thunderous sweep of the snake tail. 0

At that moment, a figure leaped up from the deck and collided fiercely with the descending snake tail. Thud. 0

The shockwave rippled through the water and even into the air, causing many to stagger back a step to regain their balance. The Ferry also rocked slightly from the impact. 0

As everyone quickly regained their composure, they saw that figure had been knocked back onto the deck while the snake tail was sent crashing in the opposite direction. With a sickening splat, it burst apart, showering blood and entrails everywhere before splitting in two and falling into the sea. 0

What was astonishing was the clean cut on the snake's body, as if some sharp weapon had sliced through it in an instant! 0

Lu Fei Fan only sensed the immense power unleashed by his opponent at that moment; he did not clearly see how they had made their move. 0

Thus, Lu Fei Fan lowered his Sniper Rifle and looked down at the figure boldly charging toward the snake tail on the lower deck. In the dim light, rain poured down from the storm, yet this person stood out as somewhat dazzling. 0

He wore a standard military cloak of the Free Federation. Though his face was under forty, he exuded an imposing presence; what drew attention even more was the black-handled Battle Axe he held at an angle. The broad, curved blade was honed to a razor-sharp edge and bore ancient inscriptions etched into its surface. 0

"Captain." Several Veterans quickly gathered around, including Tao Hua. 0

The man raised his hand slightly to signal that he was fine, and only then did everyone halt their rush forward, all fearing for their captain's safety. 0

Lu Fei Fan then noticed the Major insignia on the man's shoulder, clearly indicating he was the highest authority on this ship. 0

It seemed he recalled something and turned to glance at Lu Fei Fan on the third deck. However, Lu Fei Fan was already engrossed in the chaotic battle and did not notice the Major's attention. 0

At that moment, the Ferry suddenly shook violently. 0

Boom. 0

The seawater surged up in towering waves on both sides of the ship, revealing a Colossal Creature in the depths. It was a serpent even thicker than the giant snake they had just slain, its massive jaws wide open as it roared towards the Ferry. 0

The captain frowned, but just then, the ship trembled again. Around the giant serpent that had emerged from the water, two massive waves crashed down, causing the surrounding Sea Beasts to scatter in fear. 0

The thunderous waves shocked everyone. 0

Two large brownish-green serpents coiled beside the ship, each one as large as four or five Ferries combined. 0

"Everyone, fall back!" Tao Hua quickly warned. Everyone hurriedly retreated from the area near the giant snakes, except for the captain, who wielded a Battle Axe and stood unfazed, stroking his chin as he looked at the Colossal Creature before him with a hint of resignation. 0

"I never expected to encounter the deep-sea species 'Three-Headed Sea Mother Snake' from 'Huan Gu Hai Mu She.' What terrible luck! I shouldn't have taken this job! Hmph! With such a large group of 'Huan Gu Hai Mu She,' how could there not be a leader among them? This beast must be their vanguard commander." The captain muttered to himself as he gazed at the fearsome Three-Headed Sea Serpent thrashing about, almost as if he were verbally sparring with a human enemy. 0

However, the three heads of the Three-Headed Sea Serpent merely hissed and screamed defiantly. Its piercing shrieks were chilling, and what truly made everyone weak in the knees were its three sets of sharp teeth capable of swallowing two Ferries whole. Even a warship would have no confidence in defeating such a colossal creature that dwelled in the deep sea! 0

Clearly, just this one 'Three-Headed Sea Mother Snake' was enough to spell doom for their ship and crew. If they were swallowed by such a monster, it would be as if they were nothing more than morsels stuck between its teeth. Moreover, countless other monsters from 'Huan Gu Hai Mu She' and 'Thousand-Faced Octopus' lurked below, waiting for their feast. 0

Roar— 0

The Three-Headed Sea Serpent let out a furious roar, its massive form crashing against the surrounding waves, sending them surging and exploding in all directions. 0

Countless Thousand-Faced Octopuses leaped up, all lunging toward the Ferry. After a brief pause, the firepower net on the Ferry unleashed a frenzied barrage once more, obliterating swathes of fearless Thousand-Faced Octopuses, Poison Ink Squids, and Magma Burst Fish mid-air! 0

Yet, more continued to surge forward, including a crimson Thousand-Faced Octopus that was larger, faster, and even more difficult to handle. 0

As a result, after the initial rounds of firepower, the Ferry was left with only half of its strength to fend off the approaching Sea Monsters. The deck had devolved into a brutal melee between humans and these creatures! 0

In this life-and-death struggle, it was a fair contest of who would survive. 0

The captain also launched an attack on the Three-Headed Sea Mother Snake. His figure darted across the deck like a shadow, wielding his Long Axe with incredible force aimed at the Three-Headed Sea Serpent. The blade struck with the sharpness of autumn frost against the serpent's body, creating intense sparks as one head swayed while the other two prepared to strike. 0

Dodging swiftly, the captain swung his Long Axe through the air with precision and speed, landing blow after blow on the giant serpent. The sound of combat echoed like thunder as shockwaves rippled through the air, stirring up waves in a tumultuous storm. 0

As the saying goes, "When gods fight, mortals suffer." Although Lu Fei Fan was not an ordinary person, many soldiers aboard were merely stronger than average civilians, and some were untrained Reference Students. 0

Consequently, numerous soldiers and inexperienced newcomers were knocked off their feet and fell into the sea, where they were instantly engulfed by thrashing Sea Beasts. 0

Lu Fei Fan continuously aimed his Sniper Rifle at enemies on the deck, taking them down one by one without fail. However, when he reached for his ammunition box, he found it empty. 0

He then reached for a Hand Grenade. Grabbing the last two Energy Grenades, he pulled their pins and hurled them toward the most urgent side of the ship's defenses. The explosive blasts sent shockwaves that mixed screams from both men and beasts alike. Lu Fei Fan didn’t have time to look back; instead, he drew his trident and delivered a finishing blow to an injured Thousand-Faced Octopus! 0

Finally, he rolled over to a fallen soldier's side and pulled out a Zhan Dao that was embedded in an Octopus. 0

With water splashing around him, a crimson-backed Octopus landed before him. Its raised body attacked Lu Fei Fan with its Tentacles. In a last-minute dodge, Lu Fei Fan swiftly sliced through two of its Tentacles with his Zhan Dao. He then rolled forward and crashed into its foul-smelling body; his left hand's military trident plunged into its massive head, sending it spiraling into death’s abyss. 0

He withdrew his trident without caring about the blood splattering around him and turned to face three encircling Octopuses. The battle commenced as their Tentacles lashed out like dozens of sharp spears. 0

Lu Fei Fan wielded his Zhan Dao and military trident in a seamless defense formation while also countering any exposed Tentacles from the Octopuses. After several exchanges, three Octopuses collapsed under his assault. Lu Fei Fan had already jumped from the third deck to the second when he spotted Tao Hua kneeling with her Sniper Rifle aimed at a struggling Octopus. She plunged her exquisite dagger into its belly but suddenly turned her face toward Lu Fei Fan just as he thrust his Zhan Dao toward her! 0

She instinctively sidestepped, narrowly avoiding the blade of Lu Fei Fan's Zhan Dao as it passed closely by her. The blade plunged into an Octopus with a soft thud, just as the creature was raising its two tentacles, clearly intending to ambush Tao Hua. 0

Lu Fei Fan kicked the Octopus away and dashed toward the large door ahead, leaping down onto the most chaotic deck of the Ferry, engaging in a fierce battle with the relentless swarm of Octopuses climbing up. 0

Tao Hua had not yet managed to escape when a gunshot rang out, startling her. She instinctively flinched, feeling the terrifying shockwave of the bullet whiz past her forehead, several strands of hair drifting slowly to the ground. 0

A chill ran down her spine as she witnessed an Octopus's head explode violently to her right. 0

Turning towards the sound, she saw a man with long black hair and a handsome face standing on the staircase railing. He wielded two specially designed pistols, firing them with precision. These were two extraordinary Energy Pistols, featuring thirty-centimeter-long white square barrels adorned with intricate golden patterns. They appeared to be exquisite military collectibles. 0

Yet in his hands, these Energy Pistols seemed perfectly integrated, exhibiting immense lethality. He pulled the triggers with remarkable accuracy, each shot precisely eliminating nearby Octopuses, whether they were engaged in battle or not; none could evade his bullets. 0

Tao Hua couldn't help but widen her eyes in astonishment at his marksmanship—it was absolutely extraordinary! 0

It was as if this man didn't even need to aim; he seemed to have an uncanny ability to lock onto the positions of his enemies with his senses. His hands constantly shifted shooting positions, and each bullet followed a precise trajectory to strike its target. 0

What kind of fellow is this? 0

And what about that reckless hero who had just risked his life to save her… Were these fleeting glimpses of talent mere flashes of brilliance, or could they be the emergence of extraordinary individuals capable of supporting humanity's future? 0
