As Lu Fei Fan recalled a poet from his past life who described a storm, he remembered the words: "In the stormy mist of the sea, amidst the flashes of light that steal the blue from the sky, there is beauty; but believe me, it is that girl standing on the cliff who is more beautiful than the waves, the sky, and the storm itself."
Yet at this moment, he realized that perhaps that poet had never truly witnessed what a real storm was!
From the void beyond the planet's outer layer, one could clearly see a massive White Vortex swirling in the waters of this blue planet.
It resembled a rapidly growing beast, recklessly devouring and sweeping away everything in its path.
At the center of the storm, where Lu Fei Fan's Ferry was situated, it swayed violently as if being swallowed whole, silently enduring the crashing waves. Lightning occasionally struck the Sea Surface, illuminating this dark expanse. As the wind and rain intensified, strange phenomena began to emerge.
Thick black clouds unleashed gusts of hurricane winds that lifted seawater into spectacular yet terrifying Water Tornadoes. These Water Tornadoes grew thicker and more menacing; if the Ferry was not navigated properly, it could be shredded to pieces in an instant. The Sea Surface transformed from tumultuous waves into swirling vortices due to the emergence of these Water Tornadoes.
Inside the Ferry's Command Center, tension filled the air.
"Three vortices ahead, one thousand meters!"
"Hard left! Avoid the vortices!"
"Brace for Water Tornado!"
Voices echoed one after another as the severity of the storm exceeded their imagination.
"Captain..." a Female Soldier at the monitoring station turned to him, her face tense. "The ocean storm has just upgraded to a superstorm."
"Understood. Let the Vice Captain take over navigation," the Captain replied impatiently, passing control to the Vice Captain. His greater concern lay with the approaching Beast Horde lurking in the Ocean behind them!
That was a presence more terrifying than the storm itself.
Every warrior on the Ferry took their positions, and even the recruits aboard had been armed. It seemed like a precaution, but the captain paced nervously in the swaying cabin.
"Has Syle sent an emergency distress signal to the General Staff Headquarters and the Naval Department?" he asked after a moment.
"Report to the captain, yes, it has been sent. We just dispatched the third one," replied the Male Soldier in charge of communications swiftly.
"Not enough, send another one," the captain ordered without hesitation.
"Understood." The Male Soldier did not question why and continued with the fourth and fifth telegrams, as following orders was his primary duty.
However, the captain's concern was not whether Military Headquarters would come to their aid, but rather that if they strayed into a vast magnetic field during the storm... there was a possibility that their urgent messages would fail to go through. At that point, their Ship would be left to fate.
Just then, a soldier monitoring the radar shouted in alarm, "The first wave of monsters has accelerated! They're about a mile behind us!"
The captain stopped and turned to look at the stormy Sea Surface behind the ship, his brow furrowed with worry.
"Are they finally coming..."
Onboard.
On the deck of the Ferry's highest observation platform, Lu Fei Fan crouched behind a pile of supplies while Niu Dali lay beside him, arms wrapped around a massive Charged Rocket Launcher. Despite the swaying of the ship, he managed to doze off, earning some admiration from nearby soldiers. The others remained fully alert, gripping their weapons tightly as they aimed at the sea behind them.
"Look over there! Something seems to be moving in the water!" someone suddenly shouted.
Niu Dali suddenly jolted and turned to look ahead, while Lu Fei Fan peered through the scope of the ‘Red Wolf’ sniper rifle, his vision extending far beyond that of an ordinary person.
“Make sure to target the leader or the tough ones, got it?” The officer beside Lu Fei Fan reminded him with a meaningful pat on the shoulder before falling silent.
Lu Fei Fan understood this logic well; however, he focused more on the scope. He began to clearly see the turbulent waves rolling in from seven hundred meters away. Although the stormy sea created a chaotic view, Lu Fei Fan's instincts sensed an imminent danger.
After several large waves crashed, the surging sea was now much closer.
“Three hundred meters!” A sentry on the observation deck shouted down to the deck after lowering his night vision binoculars.
On the deck, Da Gang was clad in a tactical vest covered with ammunition belts, carrying a large Zhan Dao for close combat and holding a powerful machine gun in his hands. This was the ‘Screaming’ armor-piercing machine gun, equipped only by the Elite Corps of the Free Federation! It weighed several dozen kilograms, far too heavy for an average person to handle, yet in Da Gang's hands, it felt as light as a toy.
“Prepare for combat!” He raised the ‘Screaming’ machine gun, aiming it at the surrounding sea.
In contrast to Da Gang, Tao Hua on the second floor of the cabin was still dressed casually. However, she held a sniper rifle that was also a ‘Red Wolf’. At her waist hung a beautifully crafted women's military knife.
Upon hearing Da Gang's shout, she quickly ran to both sides of the cabin to survey her surroundings. After confirming that only the stern was under threat, she found a window at the back of the ship. She set up her sniper rifle, loaded an Ice Explosive Bullet into the chamber, and began to steady her breathing through the scope.
The waves on the sea surface were now visible to the naked eye. Amongst the rolling waves, one layer surged forward, occasionally revealing dark shapes of monstrous creatures beneath the water. As lightning briefly illuminated them, they became clearer and closer—two hundred meters, one hundred meters!
“Shock Bomb!”
With that command given,
A row of soldiers on the rear deck, each shouldering individual launchers, simultaneously pulled their triggers.
Eight brilliant beams of light shot straight out, and the cannonballs wrapped in lightning simultaneously struck the sea surface a hundred meters away. Boom, boom, boom—each explosion resonated like thunder, sending shockwaves that propelled the shattered fragments deep into the water. The extensive area of destruction was compounded by the fact that after the Shock Bomb detonated, it released a dense web of rolling thunder, causing secondary lethal damage over a wide area, with powerful electrical currents that could incapacitate anything in their path.
The dazzling Shock Bomb forced many to shut their eyes, as if a gleaming Death Scythe wielded by the Grim Reaper had effortlessly sliced through the towering waves, instantly bringing them crashing down. Countless fish and unknown mutated creatures were caught in the chaos as electric currents spread recklessly across the water, crackling and sizzling as they coursed through the sea. Numerous struggling creatures, schools of fish, and even bizarre, grotesque weaklings were all electrocuted on the Sea Surface.
Lu Fei Fan looked through his telescope and clearly saw that among the vast number of creatures killed by the Shock Bomb, the most numerous were Manta Rays! These creatures would go into a frenzy when they sensed meat, but at least the Shock Bomb had scared off most of them.
If they hadn’t taken care of those piranhas beforehand, it would have posed a significant problem when they approached the Ferry. By then, before any combat even began, the Fighter Jet would already be at a disadvantage.
“Prepare to fire!” The second command followed closely behind. Da Gang's booming voice instilled a sense of reassurance.
Lu Fei Fan couldn’t help but feel a bit nervous. Unlike the battlefields of his past life, this time they were facing Ocean Monsters. The swaying ship made it somewhat difficult for him to aim accurately.
The Sea Surface appeared calm, but in reality, it was turbulent and fraught with danger.
“Illumination Shell!”
A Second Lieutenant shouted from aboard the ship.
Boom, boom, boom.
Several soldiers aimed their Rocket Launchers once more at the seabed and fired beams of light. The Illumination Shell plunged into the water and exploded, illuminating a terrifying scene beneath the surface!
Even Lu Fei Fan couldn’t help but gasp in horror as he took in the sight.
In the water less than a hundred meters from the Ferry, countless bizarre Sea Monsters were densely intertwined. They writhed violently in the water, eagerly closing in on the Ferry filled with "human food"!
“I can’t believe it, Huahua, those things in the sea are making my scalp tingle,” Niu Dali said, swallowing hard, clearly frightened.
“What’s there to mourn in life, and what’s there to fear in death?” Lu Fei Fan held his breath, focusing on calming his breathing. Through the scope, he scanned the turbulent waters for one or two large targets among the struggling sea monsters, preparing to strike first.
It wasn’t just Niu Dali; everyone on the ferry could see that the special transparent sea bombs had exploded around the stern of the ferry, creating a churning stormy sea filled with monsters.
At that moment, the creatures surged forward, attempting to overturn the ferry. However, the ferry’s launch bay suddenly released a barrage of spiked metal balls. To their surprise, these projectiles did not sink but floated chaotically in the water. The advancing fish monsters and tentacled sea monsters collided with these carefully prepared ‘gifts.’
Boom—
Followed by a series of explosive chain reactions, the blasts echoed through the air—
The violent detonations and flashes of light sent water soaring up to ten meters high. The explosions continued relentlessly as countless monsters began thrashing and boiling in the water, like a pot of boiling water with ferocious sea monsters writhing inside, howling in agony.
The seawater turned murky, and although the bloody scent was somewhat diluted by the torrential rain and wind, it still invigorated everyone aboard the ferry!
These torpedoes would at least keep them at bay for a while.
However, the ferry was not an ancient warship; its ammunition was quite limited. The torpedoes were originally meant to be delivered to the Coastal Defense Military Base but were unexpectedly used here.
Just as everyone began to relax slightly.
Suddenly, a dark-skinned monster fish leaped from the water. It was about a meter long, with a belly round like a soccer ball. Astonishingly, its swollen belly expanded several times in an instant, and even more horrifyingly, its belly began to turn bright red!
In this critical moment—
Bang!
The gunshot rang out decisively!
Before anyone could react, a white beam shot out from a window on the second floor of the cabin, instantly piercing through the leaping, swollen belly of the Monster Fish. With most of its body torn apart, it could only plummet into the sea.
"It's the Magma Burst Fish!" a soldier shouted.
"Damn it, everyone stay alert! Don't let that thing get close to the deck; its self-destruct power is like a magma cannonball! Everyone, focus and get ready to fight!" Da Gang's booming voice echoed, instantly rallying everyone’s spirits.
The junior officer beside Lu Fei Fan patted his shoulder again. "Did you see that? Aim like her and shoot hard..."
But before he could finish his sentence.
Bang!
Without warning, Lu Fei Fan pulled the trigger. The Red Wolf Sniper Rifle shook on the deck as the bullet shot out with a deafening roar!
