In the scene, schools of marine creatures, including massive fish such as whales, dolphins, turtles, and octopuses, along with jellyfish, seahorses, and shrimp, seem to be frantically swimming in the opposite direction!
Inside the Command Center, everyone gasped in shock, holding their breath. What on earth had happened to cause these creatures to flee in droves? What were those things approaching from the front?
Due to the dense fish population, one of the Reconnaissance Fish Balls accidentally collided with a group of turtles while trying to evade a swarm of fish. It shook violently and crashed into several more schools of fish before plunging into the deep sea, smashing against a reef with a thunderous explosion.
"Loss of Fish Ball Number Two!"
A sense of tension gripped everyone's hearts; even the voice of the reporting officer trembled slightly.
Fortunately, as they got closer to their target, the schools of marine life directly ahead began to thin out.
"Reconnaissance Fish Ball Number One is only thirty nautical miles from the target..." another information soldier reported immediately.
On the radar screen, a dense cluster of light points was about to collide head-on with two rapidly advancing reconnaissance balls.
"Twenty nautical miles!" The radar operator called out again.
"Ten nautical miles..."
"Five nautical miles..."
"Right ahead!" The soldier's voice heightened everyone's anxiety in the ship's cabin. Simultaneously, they all turned their gazes toward the electronic screen.
On the screen, as the Reconnaissance Fish Ball swiftly navigated through the water, the underwater imagery gradually advanced. Suddenly, a dark mass appeared ahead in the ocean!
"Stop the Fish Ball's advance!" The captain commanded. "Switch to camouflage observation mode."
The soldier at the control panel immediately pressed the switch button, causing the distant Fish Ball to sink rapidly onto a nearby reef. Its silvery metallic form instantly scanned the surrounding rocks, seamlessly integrating itself into the reef, making it nearly indistinguishable from its surroundings. Only the camera on the Fish Ball continued to operate.
Soon after, a dense mass of shadows surged forward, swishing through the water—
The Fish Ball camera quickly seized the opportunity, capturing every detail of these uninvited guests.
When everyone finally got a clear look at the creatures, their eyes widened in shock.
After a long moment of silence, someone finally spoke up.
“W-What is this...?”
“Mutant Manta Ray!” Tao Hua’s expression darkened instantly.
These grotesque creatures did not only attack marine life; they would also swarm and attack any creature on the Sea Surface. No prey they detected would escape their grasp, leaving nothing but Skeletons in their wake.
“The numbers… it’s too much.” Wu Taohua stared at the astonishing quantity on the screen, so dense that it was hard to see where they ended. The sheer number was overwhelming, and witnessing them devouring everything sent chills down his spine.
“Hmph, what’s there to be afraid of? They’re just a bunch of piranhas. We can scare them off with a few depth charges. Worst case, we’ll have all our high-speed Machine Guns aimed and ready to blast them to pieces!” Da Gang remained nonchalant, brushing off the threat entirely.
“Hmph, if you do that, then with just our Ferry’s firepower, we won’t last even half an hour! Instead, we’d provoke them into a full-on attack and might even attract deep-sea creatures,” Wu Taohua retorted coldly. “Besides, this terrible weather is not in our favor.”
She glanced out at the raging storm outside—lightning flashed and rain poured down. The swaying cabin made it clear that conditions had deteriorated to a point where something bad was bound to happen.
Da Gang considered her words and reluctantly acknowledged some truth in them. He clicked his tongue in frustration and muttered, “Damn it, nothing works! What are we supposed to do then?”
Tao Hua was about to suggest something when another soldier’s report interrupted her.
"Captain... it's not just the Manta Ray, look!"
The soldier switched the observation camera of the Fish Ball camouflage, and as the lens turned, a scene appeared that made everyone gasp in shock!
"The Heavy-Horned Blood Beast!"
In the footage, a group of fish-like ocean creatures swarmed forward. They had triangular heads and bodies measuring seven to eight meters in length, with sharp spines and fangs protruding from their foreheads. In their struggle to push forward, they began to viciously attack each other, tearing one another apart. In an instant, several of their kind were dismembered and devoured. The water was darkened by countless entrails and blood, and as they hungrily consumed their own, even larger and more ferocious ocean creatures appeared around them!
These were elongated reptiles, about ten meters long and half a meter wide, covered in spotted scales! More importantly, one of them had a triangular head that flicked its tongue like a snake, targeting a specific prey. Suddenly, it opened its massive jaws wide and swallowed an entire Heavy-Horned Blood Beast whole!
As its belly bulged with the new meal, it seemed to have already snacked before this feast. In its eyes, the concept of being full was foreign. Its body moved gracefully as it extended its head in search of the next victim. Behind it was a group of similar creatures frantically pursuing their own prey, some even larger than itself!
"Look, that's... that's the Huan Gu Hai Mu She!"
Instantly, someone in the cabin exclaimed in alarm.
As they gazed at the terrifying scaly ocean reptiles swarming in the water, many turned pale with fear.
Moreover, the sheer number of these creatures was beyond what could be described as 'madness.'
It wasn't just these few species; soon after, others in the cabin began spotting several more horrifying marine creatures.
The Thousand-Faced Octopus, Poison Ink Squid, Magma Burst Fish, Steelrock Red-Shelled Turtle... each one was no benign entity. These highly dangerous ocean creatures should not be present in the safe waters of the Free Federation.
But now, these mutated monsters were advancing relentlessly. Could it be due to a storm? Or perhaps there was an issue with the Free Federation's Coastal Defense Line?
After a while, someone finally reacted.
“Captain…” Peach Blossom was about to suggest something suitable.
The captain, who had been calm in his seat, could no longer sit still. He suddenly stood up, his expression grave.
“Immediately report this situation to headquarters! Record these video feeds and transmit them back to the Military Headquarters at once!” He decisively issued several commands.
“Yes, sir!” The communications officer immediately sprang into action.
After giving the orders, the captain anxiously paced back and forth, muttering, “Something must have happened at the Coastal Defense Line.”
Suddenly, he seemed to realize that a more serious situation was about to unfold and quickly added, “Change course! We can’t go any further; turn around! Head towards the nearest fortress island!”
“Captain, the nearest Crescent Island is three hours away!” the navigator reported promptly.
Upon hearing this news, the captain furrowed his brow tightly. It wasn’t just him; even Da Gang and other mid-level officers on the ship held their breath involuntarily.
“Three hours…” The captain repeated the number, then murmured in a voice low enough for only himself to hear, “That’s too long; I’m afraid…”
He paced back and forth in agitation before finally stopping. He raised his head and saw the soldiers and subordinates in the cabin eagerly awaiting his decision.
In the end, he steeled himself and ordered through gritted teeth, “All personnel enter Level One Combat Readiness!”
“Yes, sir!” Everyone in the cabin responded loudly and saluted in unison.
The captain returned the salute, taking a deep look at each of them, wanting to remember them all in his heart.
After the salute, many young officers rushed out of the cabin to their respective posts, and a piercing battle readiness alarm blared throughout the ferry.
After many people had left, Taohua, who had been deliberately lingering, finally spoke up, "Captain... what should we do about those Reference?"
"Distribute combat weapons to them and prepare for combat status!" The captain replied expressionlessly, without hesitation.
"Understood." Taohua saluted and did not ask further before heading off to make arrangements.
At the door, she encountered Da Gang, who was waiting for her.
"What’s going on? How did the captain arrange for those Reference?" Da Gang asked Taohua anxiously.
Taohua glanced at him but said nothing, walking straight out.
"Hey, wait up..." Da Gang hurriedly followed her.

At that moment, Lu Fei Fan was experiencing a peculiar state. The jolting motion made him feel quite uncomfortable, as if his internal organs were being twisted by an unseen hand, leaving him feeling nauseous and breathless.
He wasn't alone; many candidates in the cabin were in a similar state. The only exception was a young man in black with long hair. Each time Lu Fei Fan stole a glance at him, he couldn't help but look a little longer until the young man noticed. Lu Fei Fan quickly closed his eyes and pretended to be unaware.
The young man assessed Lu Fei Fan but didn’t pay him much mind. Just as he wished to focus on cycling through a few more rounds, the cabin suddenly erupted with an alarm that shifted to a more urgent combat alert.
Lu Fei Fan opened his eyes and saw that numerous fully armed soldiers were rushing into position at the main Cannon Battery and rapid-fire Machine Guns on the deck.
"Looks like we're about to go into battle," Lu Fei Fan remarked.
Dali immediately shrank his neck in fear, crying out, "I don't want to die yet! I'm still a virgin, I haven't passed on my lineage, I haven't lived enough, I don't want to die..."
"Alright, alright, Dali, have some ambition. Look at A Teng over there, so calm," Lu Fei Fan said, patting A Teng, who was not paying attention. "A Teng, what are you doing?"
"I... I'm writing a will for Cuihua."
"Cuihua? The one from Slaughterhouse? When did you get involved with her?"
