Hua Jun Tang followed the leg and saw the newcomer.
“Brother,” Hua Jun Tang exclaimed joyfully, instantly getting up at the sight of his older brother.
Lu Fei Fan retracted his leg and looked at the group of thugs.
“Big Brother, what happened?” A few thugs paused their beating of other employees to ask their leader, noticing his pained expression. They guessed he must have been hurt by this sudden young man.
“Let’s take him down together!” The thugs rushed forward in a swarm.
Lu Fei Fan stepped forward, pushing Hua Jun Tang behind him. He launched into a dazzling series of combat moves—bam, bam, bam—
The thugs fell one by one, writhing in pain. When their leader finally regained his composure, he looked at the scene before him in disbelief: his men were all on the ground.
Behind the Hooligan Leader stood another thug who immediately shrank back.
“Big Brother, I think I’ve seen this guy before,” the thug said.
“Seen him?” The leader was puzzled.
“At that underground gambling den… He was fighting someone and seemed to knock them all down!” the thug explained.
“No way, is that true?” The leader felt his legs weaken at the thought of someone who could punch through a Human Sandbag.
“It’s definitely true! A friend of mine went there to sign up, and I went along just to see. I saw him win, but then he got taken away by the police. We can’t mess with this guy; he could seriously hurt us. Let’s just get out of here,” the thug said nervously.
After hesitating for a moment, the Hooligan Leader decided that saving face was not worth it. In this situation, it was more important to save their lives. He quickly weighed his options and decisively ordered,
“Let’s go.”
In an instant, a group of thugs ran away faster than rabbits, while those who had been rolling on the ground pretending to be dead also slipped away like oil on their feet. Hua Jun Tang intended to chase after them but was stopped by Lu Fei Fan.
Afterward, Hua Jun Tang and Lu Fei Fan checked on the injured employees. Aside from Brother Liu and two others who had minor abrasions, everyone else was basically fine. Lu Fei Fan picked up the battered can from the box and sneered; it was clearly a deliberate attempt at extortion.
"These people are too despicable," Hua Jun Tang naturally guessed the situation involving Syle.
"Hey, I really appreciate your help today," Brother Liu said gratefully to Lu Fei Fan.
"Don't be upset. In the future, if you can't resolve such matters, just call the police. Don't confront them directly; otherwise, you'll be the ones who suffer," Lu Fei Fan advised.
Everyone nodded in agreement.
"Brother, why did you come looking for me?" Hua Jun Tang asked.
"Oh, Mom asked me to bring you some food," he replied, walking over to grab several boxes of pizza and pastries that had been set aside. In the end, Hua Jun Tang happily shared the food with his colleagues, creating a cheerful atmosphere. However, Lu Fei Fan frowned as he glanced in the direction where the thugs had fled. He abandoned the idea of pursuing them; they had run away so quickly that they must have been scared and likely wouldn't dare return to settle scores. For now, it was better to focus on preparing for his training and dealing with Fu Tong Kao.
At that moment, in an office building nearby, the Hooligan Leader slammed his fist on the table.
"Damn it! He ruined our plan!" The man in the jacket grumbled, growing increasingly frustrated.
"Boss, just let it go," one of his subordinates advised from the side.
"No way! I need to reclaim our territory; otherwise, how will I collect protection fees from other businesses? Go find Yang Ge for me."
"Go and invite Yang Ge from the Xuanwu Guild over; tell him I'll treat him to drinks," the leader commanded.
Before he could finish speaking, a loud voice rang out from outside the door.
“Who is looking for me?”
As he spoke, a man walked in, the one they referred to as Brother Yang. He had a strong build, fitting the description of a muscular man.
“Brother Yang, what brings you here?” Dogzi hurriedly approached him.
“Ah, don’t mention it. I’ve been facing some setbacks lately and am planning to go on a journey to train and prepare for the upcoming Fu Tong Kao. I came here to say goodbye,” Brother Yang replied. “Dogzi, listen to me. You’d better not stir up trouble while I’m away. If it weren’t for your mother asking me to look after you, I wouldn’t bother.”
“I’m not causing any trouble, Brother Yang! It’s others who are bothering me,” Dogzi said with a frustrated expression, ready to vent his grievances.
“What happened?” Brother Yang immediately perked up, eager to hear more.
Dogzi recounted the events that had transpired, and after listening intently, Brother Yang asked, “What does this person look like?”
“He looks…” Dogzi hesitated, unsure of how to describe him.
“Big brother, I have a photo of him!” one of the younger disciples quickly raised his hand and pulled out his phone. After tapping the screen, an electronic window popped up, displaying the face of Lu Fei Fan.
“It’s him!”
Upon seeing Lu Fei Fan's face, Brother Yang was taken aback and stood up in shock.
“What’s wrong, Brother Yang?” Dogzi asked, confused.
Brother Yang’s expression turned serious. After a moment of contemplation, he sat back down and said to Dogzi, “You need to go apologize to this person right away.”
“Huh?” Dogzi was stunned. Instead of seeking revenge, why was he being told to apologize? What was going on?
“Honestly,” Yang Ge explained seriously, “I lost a fight at the club today!”
“Ah!” Dogzi was taken aback; it was rare for Yang Ge to meet an opponent. “How could you lose? Aren't you quite formidable at the club?”
“I used to be naive and thought I knew everything, but now I realize there are always greater talents out there. Dogzi, listen to me, this person is not someone we can provoke. Even Mr. Whitebeard, the Director of our Xuanwu Guild branch, holds him in high regard. Our club's strongest, War General King Jiang Wannian, also respects him greatly and wants to recruit him.”
Dogzi was momentarily stunned; he hadn’t expected this person to have such a powerful background. It felt like he had kicked a metal plate.
“Dogzi, it’s best not to provoke this person. You ordinary folks are nothing in front of an Empowered Individual; you’re even less than ants. Trust me, hurry and apologize to them. Don’t provoke them again, or even I won’t be able to save you,” Yang Ge advised earnestly.
“Alright, I’m leaving now. The consequences of this matter are yours to handle. Don’t act recklessly,” Yang Ge said as he turned to grab his backpack and left.
Dogzi sat there in a daze for a moment, feeling lost. When he finally came to his senses, he realized Yang Ge had already gone. He started pondering how to deal with the aftermath and eventually called over two reliable subordinates.
“Come here.”
“Boss, what’s up?” the two brothers entered.
“Go get me one hundred thousand cash from the freezer; we’re going out,” Dogzi instructed.
“Huh?” The two brothers looked confused.
“Hurry up, don’t dawdle,” Dogzi said angrily as he slammed the table.
The two brothers immediately turned and obediently left.
At the delivery point, Lu Fei Fan finished delivering food and returned to the hospital to take care of his father after replacing his mother. Hua Jun Tang continued working at the delivery point; it wasn’t time to clock out yet. The manager had arrived, and someone informed him about the extortion incident from the afternoon.
The manager called Brother Liu into his office to inquire about what happened. Fearing that those thugs might return to cause trouble, he insisted on firing Hua Jun Tang, Lu Fei Fan's brother. However, Brother Liu vehemently opposed this decision, leading to an argument between them in the office when an employee walked in with a report.
“Manager, someone is looking for you outside.”
The manager and Brother Liu were momentarily taken aback, then the manager waved his hand and said, “Let him in.”
Brother Liu showed no intention of leaving; clearly, he was unwilling to compromise on the matter of firing Hua Jun Tang.
A thug with strange hair and earrings walked in, holding an envelope. Upon seeing the manager and Lao Liu, he immediately adopted a respectful demeanor and smiled, “Excuse me, which one of you is the manager?”
“I am. What do you need?” the manager asked.
“Oh, it’s like this. I sincerely apologize for the delivery issue. My brother’s Antique Jar is a separate matter; we were in the wrong. My brother specifically sent me to bring you something as an apology.” With that, he placed the bulging envelope on the table and pushed it forward.
Curious, the manager opened the envelope and was astonished to find it stuffed with cash! Lao Liu estimated that there was probably not less than eighty thousand, maybe even over a hundred thousand. What on earth was going on?
“We can’t accept this money,” the manager said as he pushed it back, only to have the thug press it down again.
“My brother insists. This is just a token of our goodwill. If you refuse, we’ll have no choice but to come here and apologize in person.” The thug seemed to be quite articulate; otherwise, they wouldn’t have sent him in to apologize.
“Don’t.”
The manager exchanged a glance with Lao Liu, and in the end, they had no choice but to accept the money.
Seeing that they accepted it, the thug felt his mission was nearly complete but still had a few final words to convey.
“Also, my brother has a few more things to say. He hopes that Master Gao, who took action today, will be magnanimous and not hold a grudge against our brother. If you ever need assistance in the future, feel free to reach out to us.” With that, he placed a business card on the table and backed out.
The manager and Lao Liu exchanged bewildered glances; this unexpected turn of events left them somewhat puzzled.
Finally, the manager asked Lao Liu for details about what had happened. After thinking for a long time, he decided to keep the money and instructed Lao Liu, “Let’s not mention this to anyone else for now. We’ll consider this as your year-end bonus.”
“Hmm,” Lao Liu replied. “About Hua Jun Tang…”
“Let him… stay,” the manager decided after some consideration. He couldn’t help but ask Lao Liu, “Do you know what his brother does?”
“I don’t know, but today he took down that group of thugs in just a few moves, and it all happened so fast I could barely see it. His skills are extraordinary; he’s probably not an ordinary person,” Lao Liu recalled.
“Hmm… he should be someone special. You need to take good care of Hua Jun Tang. His brother is likely a powerful figure, and having a strong ally wouldn’t hurt us,” the manager said.
Lao Liu nodded in agreement and went out to inform Hua Jun Tang that he had been officially hired.
Hua Jun Tang was overjoyed. After work, he rushed to the hospital to see his older brother and excitedly told him about his new job. Lu Fei Fan was equally happy for his younger brother.
“Brother, I can help share the burden from now on,” the younger brother said with satisfaction.
“Hmm.” Lu Fei Fan nodded and patted his brother’s shoulder.
With a stable job, at least he could share some responsibility for their struggling family. Watching his younger brother begin to take on responsibilities filled him with pride.
