The next day.
Brilliant sunlight streamed through the iron bars of the window. Lu Fei Fan rolled over and stretched, scratching his backside, preparing to lie down and continue sleeping. With temporary freedom, the guards had returned his personal belongings, including the Superbrain Device.
Last night, he had connected with the 'Hero' in the Virtual Network and practiced Virtual Combat techniques for a long time. So when the 'Hero' finally allowed him to sleep in a little longer, he didn't care about the sunlight warming his backside.
But who would have thought that the cell door would creak open? A flurry of footsteps entered, and before Lu Fei Fan could react, a bucket of ice-cold water was dumped over him!
Lu Fei Fan jolted awake, rolling off the bed. For a moment, he thought he was dreaming and had been swept away by a flood. It wasn't until he sat on the floor that he noticed a metal bucket right in front of him. When he turned to find the culprit, he saw a pair of cute, pink feet peeking out from beneath high heels.
Looking up, he saw Su Family Eldest Sister clapping her hands, her delicate and beautiful face beaming with triumph as she looked down at him, as if to say, "You’re done for."
"What... what do you want?" Lu Fei Fan crossed his arms defensively. "I'm not someone you can just push around. Even if you force me, I will resist..." He pretended to be a wronged maiden, feigning tears.
Then he exaggerated further, "Wuwu, I'm still a virgin! You beastly woman..."
"Get lost!" Su Family Eldest Sister hurled another bucket at him. Luckily, Lu Fei Fan dodged just in time; otherwise, his head would have been split open.
Su Su stood there with her hands on her hips, fuming. She had thought that splashing cold water on him in the morning would give her an advantage. She had even prepared lines like "If you don’t sign that agreement, you’ll rot in here," and "I’ll torment you from now on."
But now it seemed that this rogue was gaining the upper hand instead.
"Are you going to sign or not?" Su Su demanded.
"I'm really hungry. If you can cook me some fried eggs and ham, I might consider signing right away," Lu Fei Fan yawned and rubbed his belly, looking utterly lethargic.
"Hmm? Fried eggs and ham?" Su Family Eldest Sister pondered while crossing her arms and tapping her chin.
"Forget it; I guess you can't cook anyway. I might as well starve here."
"Hmph, there's nothing I can't do! Just you wait! I will make you submit willingly."
With that, Su Su turned on her heel and stormed off in a huff. Lu Fei Fan casually glanced at the graceful figure of the beauty as she left. Teasing her was actually quite entertaining, but it was surprising that she fell for such a simple provocation. Was it intentional?
Lu Fei Fan patiently waited, stepping out of his cell and chatting with the inmates in the neighboring cells through the iron bars. He wasn't in a hurry; his cell door had been left unlocked since last night. He had even wandered around the prison during the night without any guards bothering him. As long as he didn’t do anything too outrageous, he could stroll around the prison without issue. However, escaping was another matter entirely; the guards would certainly not let him out, especially not with Su Su backing him up. He figured he might as well take his time to train and use her properly.
The laid-back prison guard cast a glance at Lu Fei Fan. When Lu Fei Fan first arrived, he had kept to himself and remained low-key. Now, with Su Su supporting him, he no longer hid his demeanor. He engaged in lively conversations with several inmates, using his silver tongue to keep the chatter going. Initially, the guard paid close attention to their discussions but soon realized they were merely gossiping about trivial matters—like how Zhang San's family pig had given birth or how Li Si's dog had gotten into a fight with Wang Wu's dog, resulting in both ending up in prison.
Eventually, the guard lost interest and stopped monitoring their conversations. However, Lu Fei Fan was the type who could chat with anyone about anything—whether discussing voluptuous women with guards or debating chicken laying eggs with inmates; he could talk for quite a while.
As for whether Su Su was really going to make breakfast, he didn’t care much. He hadn’t taken her seriously anyway; it was just idle talk. In reality, he was just passing time in prison while plotting how to outsmart Su Su to secure his release.
Little did he know that the privileged Su Su was indeed storming toward the kitchen of the prison, kicking out all the cooks inside. This commotion even caught the attention of Tao Shu, the busy Warden, who sent Liu Chengshu to investigate what was happening.
When Liu Chengshu entered the kitchen alongside Wang Bo, they were utterly stunned.
Su Su had rolled up her sleeves, her once fair face now smeared with flour and dirt. She stood seriously by a large cooking pot, cracking eggs against its side with a loud "crack!"
The eggs shattered, yolks and whites spilling onto the floor as she tossed aside the shells and reached for another egg from the box. She cracked it again—this time it missed the pot entirely and fell to the ground.
With egg yolks and whites splattered everywhere, she muttered to herself, "Still not right! Let’s try again; how did I fail again? No way! One more time..."
Before long, she had gone through an entire box of eggs and called for another one without looking back.
Liu Chengshu watched this scene with a headache; he felt that at this rate, they would have to buy enough eggs for a month just to cover her attempts. While it wouldn’t cost much money, it seemed like an incredible waste.
Wang Bo stroked his beard with a look of satisfaction and remarked unexpectedly, "If Big Sister’s father knew she was cooking in the kitchen, he would be utterly shocked! Who would have thought there would be someone capable of getting Big Sister to cook? It's truly unbelievable."
Liu Chengshu pondered for a moment before unable to resist chiming in, "Wang Bo, aren’t you going to go up and give her some pointers?"
“I’m not really good at cooking,” Wang Bo said, shaking his head. “It would be better to ask Liu Secretary to find a chef to teach the eldest sister.”
Soon after, Liu Chengshu arranged for a head chef to come and guide the eldest sister, explaining that cracking eggs didn’t require too much force. After a lot of effort, around noon, the first batch of dark, burnt fried eggs finally came out.
When she placed it in front of Lu Fei Fan, he looked at the black mass that was unrecognizable as food, emitting thick black smoke and a burnt smell. He swallowed hard and asked with no appetite, “Is this for people to eat or for dogs? Re-fry it!”
With that, she had to send it back for another attempt. Su Su glared at the plate she was holding. As someone with a strong sense of aesthetics and perfectionism, she was naturally very dissatisfied. So she tossed the plate back and returned to the kitchen for another round of effort, producing the second batch.
“Why is it still burnt? You should try a bite yourself.”
“Fine, I’ll eat it…”
Ugh—
After tasting it, someone made a retching sound.
Then came the third, fourth, fifth batches… Lu Fei Fan went from ignoring her completely to patiently guiding her.
“This one doesn’t look appealing at all! The heat is too high; you can lower it a bit!”
“Mm-hmm.” The eldest sister nodded in agreement.
“This one is too ugly! What kind of guidance did that chef give you? He should spend a month cleaning toilets for making you re-fry it a hundred times as a demonstration!”
“Mm…” The eldest sister nodded again.
“How can anyone eat this kind of fried egg? You can use less salt; go back and do it again!”
By the time they reached the fiftieth batch in the evening, Su Family Eldest Sister’s fried eggs still looked almost identical to the first batch. Lu Fei Fan was finally convinced; this eldest sister was fuming with frustration, her fists clenched as if about to explode. In the end, Lu Fei Fan gave up and waved his hand dismissively.
"Forget it, don't fry anymore. Just seeing this fried egg makes me never want to eat one again. You really aren't cut out to be a chef."
"Oh? Is that so?" The Eldest Sister of the Su Family first spoke sweetly, then suddenly changed her tone and slammed the table. "Starting tomorrow, I will only serve you my fried eggs for every meal. Eat them or not, hum! Unless you sign the contract, the menu stays the same!" The Eldest Sister of the Su Family was determined to drag Lu Fei Fan down with her. After all the trouble he had caused her in the kitchen, she certainly wouldn't let him off easy. However, frying eggs was indeed much harder than cultivating Pulse Energy.
"You, you, you..." Lu Fei Fan had eaten before, but today he mustered the courage to take a bite of that dark, unappetizing food and ended up running to the bathroom three times. He was completely convinced of this beautiful sister's terrible cooking skills.
Ignoring Lu Fei Fan's protests, Su Da Jie turned and walked away.
And so it went on for three days; each time Lu Fei Fan only received fried eggs from the Eldest Sister of the Su Family. He regretted letting this sister fry eggs for him; now he could only eat eggs. However, he noticed that her frying skills had indeed improved over those three days, and her fried eggs were getting closer to what a normal person would make.
At first, Su Da Jie found this greasy task infuriating. In a fit of anger, she even smashed the large iron pot used by the kitchen staff for cooking.
The chefs were terrified she might destroy more in the kitchen, so they all chimed in with suggestions on how to teach this sister to fry eggs. One particularly unscrupulous chef even suggested changing the prison's menu entirely to fried eggs to increase practice opportunities.
Su Da Jie found this suggestion quite reasonable and decided to replace all main dishes in the prison with fried eggs, insisting on cooking them herself. Thus began a fried egg storm sweeping through Black Iron Prison, as if a dark cloud had descended upon it.
Meanwhile, Tao Shu, the warden who was busy handling official duties in his office, found it was lunchtime again when a chef knocked on the door and brought in food.
Tao Shu looked at the meal on his desk!
"How come it's fried eggs again?" he couldn't help but ask the chef delivering his meal, his stomach churning slightly.
"I've eaten these fried eggs five times in a row! What's going on?" Tao Shu looked at the plate filled with several fried eggs and felt quite dissatisfied; aside from fried eggs, there was nothing else.
The chef awkwardly replied, "This... this is Sister Su's personal frying. She insisted that you try it..."
Tao Shu was at a loss for words. Goodness! How many more times did this sister intend to monopolize the prison kitchen to practice frying eggs before she would be satisfied?
Unable to take it anymore, Tao Shu dismissed the chef and planned to go outside for a proper meal. After all these fried eggs, he felt like he might go crazy.
Fortunately, he was not a criminal; otherwise, he would be in big trouble. In that moment, he felt incredibly lucky.
After the kitchen was taken over by the Eldest Sister of the Su Family, the already controversial and terrible prison menu was completely changed to fried eggs. At first, the inmates thought their meals had improved, but after a few days, they began to protest.
“Damn it, how can it be fried eggs again? How many of these do we have to eat?”
“I strongly protest against fried eggs! I want meat, not your eggs! I've already had several stomach issues because of this.”
“I feel like I’ll never eat fried eggs again in my life; just seeing them makes me want to throw up!”
“The cooks here make the worst fried eggs; they’ve been burnt for a whole week. This is ridiculous…”
The inmates were agitated in the dining hall. No matter how picky they were, after a month of this, their intestines would surely rebel.
Ultimately, this fried egg farce ended with the inmates going on a hunger strike, forcing Tao Shu to agree to Su Su's changes to the menu. After some negotiation, Su Su finally consented, but the only thing that changed was that fried eggs became steamed eggs…
When this announcement was made, the entire prison erupted in wails of despair.
