Lu Fei Fan walked ahead, unaware that someone had already set their sights on him from behind. He followed the crowd into the cafeteria, where rows of people were queuing at the front window to collect their trays and meals.
Several guards stood in every corner, watching the prisoners to prevent any trouble.
“What kind of crap food is this? It never changes!” a Brawny Man exclaimed as he received his meal at the window. He scooped a spoonful of the thick food onto his plastic spoon, tasted it, and promptly spat it out. He slammed his hand on the table and shouted at the server behind the window, “Are you feeding pigs here?”
The bearded server glanced up but ignored him, signaling for the next person in line.
“I’m talking to you! Are you blind?” the Brawny Man yelled in frustration.
At that moment, a Tall Man standing behind him, holding his own tray, chimed in irritably, “Hey, if you want to eat it, then eat it; if not, just get lost!”
“Who are you telling to get lost?” The Brawny Man turned around defiantly to face the Tall Man.
The Tall Man stared back with wide eyes, refusing to back down. “I’m telling you to get lost. What’s it to you?”
“F*** your mother!”
The Brawny Man hurled his tray at the Tall Man.
Caught off guard, the Tall Man stumbled back but quickly regained his composure. Enraged, he snatched a tray from a nearby prisoner who was frozen in shock and swung it at the Brawny Man.
Smack!
The two men immediately began to fight. The surrounding crowd quickly formed a circle around them. Both were relentless fighters; one ended up bloodied while the other had his clothes torn and bruises all over his chest.
The other prisoners stopped eating and cheered excitedly, shouting for them to kill each other.
Lu Fei Fan watched coldly from the side. In an environment like this, such incidents were commonplace. If he were to face either of these men, he would be even more ruthless—either using underhanded tactics or directly striking vital points to incapacitate them completely.
He had been practicing the Military Combat Technique for some time now. Although his progress was not rapid, he felt confident enough to handle street thugs on his own, capable of self-defense. However, he knew that facing tougher opponents would still be a challenge. Recently, Lu Fei Fan had been taking the opportunity to memorize the Human Body acupoint chart.
This was an assignment given to him by the 'hero,' so when the two began to fight, Lu Fei Fan was already mentally rehearsing how to take down his opponent in the first few moves. He figured it wouldn't take more than three strikes, as these two were lacking in skill and were merely engaging in chaotic street brawling with no technique involved.
Suddenly, a shrill whistle pierced the air—
In just a few minutes, several prison guards rushed in, brandishing their batons. From the watchtower above, four or five guards aimed their Sniper Rifles at the scene below. As the guards pushed through the crowd, three or four of them made their way to the center and swung their electrified batons, swiftly incapacitating the two main instigators of the fight. The two troublemakers collapsed to the ground, convulsing and foaming at the mouth.
But that wasn't the end of it. A few guards continued to beat the two 'dead fish' lying on the ground with regular batons, striking them mercilessly. The sound of blows echoed through the air, and it was clear that these two would be suffering for quite some time.
Other prisoners crouched down with their heads held low; Lu Fei Fan was no exception. He had no intention of confronting the guards openly, as he knew it would only lead to trouble for himself.
Before long, the two were dragged away by the guards, likely headed for solitary confinement. After that incident, lunch was canceled in the cafeteria. Many prisoners grumbled about it but dared not voice their complaints.
After lunch came a brief period of outdoor time for those incarcerated in this block. A few prisoners were let outside into an enclosed area surrounded by iron bars standing four or five meters high. Although they could see some light, layers of barriers prevented them from seeing beyond the prison walls; all they could make out were watchtowers and high fences, making any escape attempt impossible.
This was Lu Fei Fan's first time outside for fresh air. He speculated that this prison must be situated on a high point of an island; clearly, Prison Island was surrounded by restricted areas. However, he could still faintly hear the sounds of a Ferry in the distance.
Suddenly, dark clouds rolled in ominously overhead as a storm brewed. Thunder rumbled through the sky as flashes of cold silver lightning streaked across the clouds, creating an oppressive atmosphere.
"Why does it always rain like this?" several prisoners complained as they hurried back into their cells.
Crash!
Out of nowhere, a terrifying bolt of lightning struck the roof above the prison door during a lull in the storm. The ceiling collapsed with a deafening roar just as two prisoners were running inside, burying them beneath debris while blocking off the entrance completely. Dozens of other prisoners remained trapped outside in the open area.
Lu Fei Fan found himself among them as many guards watching from above rushed down to rescue those caught in the chaos. The storm had fully arrived with a vengeance.
The torrential rain suddenly swept across Prison Island, drenching everything in its path. Outside the open area, there were no shelters from the downpour, and many people could only stand at the entrance, shouting loudly. However, the collapsed brick wall had completely blocked the door, and it would take some time to clear it. The guards inside had already begun notifying their superiors to find a way to handle the situation.
Lu Fei Fan, soaked to the bone, also wanted to run toward the entrance. But as he moved forward, a figure emerged from the curtain of rain and blocked his path.
Wiping the water from his face, Lu Fei Fan recognized the man who had been watching him from his cell—the Gloomy Man.
The Gloomy Man stood with his legs apart and arms wide open, staring intently at Lu Fei Fan. His dark expression seemed to enter a frenzied state of predation in the rain. Lu Fei Fan noticed that he was holding a sharp weapon wrapped in tattered cloth.
This weapon must have been deliberately given to him by someone.
The two faced each other, standing about a meter apart, while the other prisoners were oblivious to their standoff in the center of the open area. The sudden storm was so intense that the rain poured down in sheets, making it impossible to see even a few meters ahead.
Rustle—rustle—
Lu Fei Fan felt the raindrops thudding against him, but he wasn’t afraid; instead, he calmly regarded the man before him, who was also watching him intently.
Suddenly, the Gloomy Man moved. The sharp weapon sliced through the falling rain in a beautiful yet deadly arc!
Lu Fei Fan leaned back half a step, but the man pressed forward through the rain. The sharp weapon changed direction and lunged straight down!
Lu Fei Fan quickly raised his left hand to block it while his right fist shot out toward him. The tightly clenched fist smashed through the rain with a loud crack and struck the man's chest. He staggered slightly in surprise but quickly lifted his head and withdrew the sharp weapon, using that moment to slash across Lu Fei Fan's left hand!
Lu Fei Fan felt a cold pain shoot through his left hand as they separated, marking an end to their initial test of strength.
He glanced at the cut on his left arm; bright red blood quickly washed away by the heavy rain. He tore off a piece of cloth to wrap around his wound and then fixed his gaze on the Gloomy Man across from him. The man still held the sharp weapon close to his mouth and provocatively licked the blood off it with his tongue.
"Heh heh, tastes pretty good!" The man spoke for the first time.
"I don't think I have any grudge against you," Lu Fei Fan replied, looking at him curiously.
The man raised the corner of his mouth in a grim smile, confidently shaking off the blood from the Sharp Weapon, and explained to Lu Fei Fan, "Someone paid a hundred thousand for your life!"
"Only a hundred thousand?" Lu Fei Fan replied with a hint of sarcasm.
"That's not important. What matters is that you must die today!" With that, the man lunged forward as a wave of rain poured down. Lu Fei Fan stepped back half a pace and sidestepped the incoming slash. Seizing the opportunity, Lu Fei Fan delivered a fierce punch directly to the man's ribs.
The man was not in a vulnerable state; he continued to swing his Sharp Weapon, landing a precise strike on Lu Fei Fan's shoulder, creating a deep cut with a sharp hiss.
Lu Fei Fan let out a muffled groan and grabbed the man's wrist holding the dagger. With his right hand, he unleashed a flurry of punches that rained down like heavy rain. The man winced in pain and immediately released his grip on the Sharp Weapon, stumbling back while clutching his injured hand, which trembled uncontrollably. He forced himself to steady his arm but looked at Lu Fei Fan with shock.
"This is... Military Combat Technique! How could you..."
Blood was already trickling from the corner of his mouth, clearly indicating that Lu Fei Fan's earlier punch had likely broken his ribs. Despite using all his strength, he was still able to fight back, but it was evident that Lu Fei Fan still had a long way to go before he could incapacitate an opponent in combat.
The man shook his hand and wiped the blood from his mouth, now regarding Lu Fei Fan with a mix of admiration and mockery. He then stripped off his shirt and tossed it to the ground.
Lu Fei Fan also gritted his teeth through the pain and pulled out the Sharp Weapon embedded in him, tossing it aside into the distance.
The rain continued to pour, and the battle raged on!
With a roar, the man charged forward bare-chested, this time serious and moving with calculated offense and defense.
Lu Fei Fan did not back down; he gritted his teeth against the pain and surged forward with all his might!
The two began exchanging blows amidst the rain, their fists and feet moving so quickly that it was almost dizzying. Lu Fei Fan had completely forgotten every fighting technique he had practiced; he was now purely relying on instinct to exploit openings in his opponent's defense. If a knowledgeable Federal Soldier were present, they would surely be astonished.
Both fighters employed pure Military Combat Techniques. The Gloomy Man's style was more forceful and aggressive, with brutal moves focused on offense and defense, aiming to bring Lu Fei Fan to his end with each strike.
However, Lu Fei Fan's fighting skills were even more refined and authentic; he moved faster and adopted an offensive approach with minimal defense.
The two of them were evenly matched, exchanging blows for dozens of rounds in the rain without a clear victor. Finally, they quickly separated and then collided fiercely once more, their attacks becoming faster and more intense.
"Die!"
Lu Fei Fan roared, his mind racing. In the downpour, his speed increased even further, leaving the man, who had been on par with him just moments before, wide-eyed in shock. Lu Fei Fan's limbs erupted with a terrifying force that was beyond comprehension, even radiating a faint aura.
Thud! Thud! Thud—
The man was continuously hit, retreating step by step until Lu Fei Fan unleashed a flurry of strikes aimed at his throat and abdomen. The man had no idea how many punches and kicks he had taken until Lu Fei Fan finally stopped. He knelt on the ground, disbelief etched on his face as blood poured from his mouth. With his last ounce of strength, he looked at Lu Fei Fan and said, "Impossible... you... you actually cultivated... Fumai Energy..."
With that, he collapsed limply to the ground, lifeless.
The rain poured down relentlessly, washing away the blood on the ground.
Lu Fei Fan gasped for breath, letting the rain cleanse him. In the end, he had emerged victorious. This real combat experience had brought him significant gains. Ignoring the pain from his wounds, he cleaned up the scene to ensure no evidence was left behind. Then he swiftly left in the rain; once it stopped, the body would soon be discovered.
