As soon as the voice faded, the surroundings of Lu Fei Fan gradually brightened.
Lu Fei Fan could see that he was in a spacious area, covering hundreds of square meters, with a soft and comfortable ambiance.
His first thought was that this must be a constructed virtual space.
"Do you think this place is cool and extravagant?" The gentle voice came from behind him again.
Lu Fei Fan turned around and saw a sturdy, bear-like robot with a creamy white exterior. Its body was smooth and polished, and its round metallic head featured a unique screen area displaying a pair of blue glowing electronic eyes. Its limbs were similar to those of a human, each equipped with five metallic fingers. One hand was crossed over its chest while the other rested on its chin, as if it were contemplating. If the metallic rim beneath its head could be considered a chin, it was indeed stroking it while blinking its electronic eyes and examining Lu Fei Fan.
"What is this place?"
"Of course, it's the virtual space I created," it replied.
"Virtual space? Is it that special kind of space on the Virtual Network?" Lu Fei Fan asked, somewhat confused.
"To be precise, it is an isolated virtual domain that exists solely within my standalone chip. Only I can leave; others cannot enter unless I permit them. Only then can external entities or people connect," the robot explained.
Lu Fei Fan nodded, feeling somewhat pale as he suddenly became aware of something.
"You... you..."
"I?" The robot changed its tone and asked, "Do I really look that unapproachable?"
"It is a bit intimidating. I think... dogs are easier to approach," Lu Fei Fan replied, nodding in realization.
The robot pondered for a moment, seemingly agreeing with Lu Fei Fan's serious remark. Instantly, its form shifted from the robot to that of a dog—specifically, a Machine Dog.
However, this Machine Dog leaped forward and pinned Lu Fei Fan to the ground. It then transformed back into its previous robotic form, placing one foot on Lu Fei Fan's body as he lay there.
"The elegant and noble AI Intelligent Life cannot be deceived by mere flesh-and-blood mortals like you. Hmph! Luckily, I searched online for some style." With arms crossed, it declared, "You have three seconds to apologize; otherwise, I will set your virtual pain level to one hundred percent and break one of your legs so you can truly feel what that’s like."
"Which leg do you want me to step on?" Lu Fei Fan joked, unfazed by the situation.
The robot glanced at a certain rogue's pants and replied, "As per the usual, let's start with the one in the middle!"
Without hesitation, the robot indeed stepped down, and a sound reminiscent of slaughtering a pig echoed through the air.
Afterward, the robot maintained a virtual pain level for ten minutes before it finally ceased. This virtual pain was typically less than one percent of real sensation in the Virtual Battlefield, but adjusted by this robot, it felt just like actual pain, leaving Lu Fei Fan in agony over his 'amputated' leg.
"Back to the point," the robot said, waving its hand to signal Lu Fei Fan to stop his nonsense.
"It must be a dream, it has to be a dream..." Lu Fei Fan continued to lie down, muttering incessantly, yet no matter how tightly he closed his eyes, he couldn't wake up.
"Useless. Without my permission, the chip in your brain will keep you in a sleep state," the robot said while making a circular motion around its head.
"A chip in my brain?" Lu Fei Fan sat up, catching on to the crucial detail.
"Yes, the Super Mafa Crystal Chip that was implanted in your brain last time," the robot nodded and explained.
"Damn it, you actually implanted something in my extraordinary brain! Get it out now, or I'll fight you!" The thought of having a chip in his head made Lu Fei Fan feel like he was being dissected and turned into a puppet.
"Are you sure you want it removed? That would require splitting open your skull and extracting your brain matter..." The robot said nonchalantly while crossing its arms.
Lu Fei Fan imagined himself with his skull split open and brain matter flying everywhere. He swallowed hard and briefly weighed his options between becoming a puppet or fighting for survival. In the end, he chose to yield.
"Hero... I haven't married my wife yet, I have no children, and I still have a crazy father with severe foot disease to take care of. Why make things difficult for each other?" Lu Fei Fan suddenly threw himself at the robot's feet, clutching its leg and begging for mercy.
"Don't worry. The dream communication was established because I had no other choice. I am an Intelligent AI. Previously, when you played Virtual Battlefield, I helped you out and then checked on you. In the future, we can communicate through the Superbrain Device," the robot seemed to know every thought that crossed Lu Fei Fan's mind.
"Through that device, you can know my thoughts?" Lu Fei Fan asked with evident confusion.
"Because we are one entity. I am in your brain, and all the data analyzed by your brain's neural cells will be processed through the chip. During the transmission process, there will be a feedback of collected data information sent back to me. So as long as you are connected to the Virtual Network, I can know whatever you are thinking, as long as I want to know it, unless you can completely merge with the chip," the robot explained.
"During the last battle in the Virtual Battlefield, was it you who helped me download the defense and counterattack software from the Data Analysis System?" Lu Fei Fan asked.
"Yes, I slightly hacked into the Data Analysis System database of the Virtual Battlefield and modified some data and AI, so it automatically assisted you. I originally wanted to establish communication with you, but there were too many people around, and I was afraid it would seem too unusual for you, so I chose this optimal moment instead," the robot said casually.
"Hacked? The Data Analysis System of the Virtual Battlefield?" Lu Fei Fan swallowed hard, feeling that this robot was talking nonsense. It was simply absurd! The Lodin Group had offered hundreds of thousands for anyone who could find a bug in it, yet this thing had managed to hack in so easily? If it could find bugs in the Virtual Battlefield, wouldn’t it make a fortune?
"Is there anything else you want to ask?" the robot asked, crossing its arms.
"Why... why did you implant a chip in my head?" Lu Fei Fan was puzzled. He pointed at his head and thought about how terrifying it was to have a chip in his brain. This was definitely not a good thing; put nicely, he was being controlled, and put bluntly, he could end up completely brainless.
"Because you are the first human who has released me from the Black Sphere state. It just so happens that checking various aspects of implanted data is permitted, so I chose you," the robot shrugged helplessly. "In fact, your physical condition and brain function are not exactly optimal; compared to my master, you are leagues behind and need improvement."
"Master?" Lu Fei Fan couldn’t help but ask curiously. "Is your master also a robot? Where is he from? Why aren’t you with him?"
"No, he is not from this place. Currently, part of my stored data is missing. During my fall, I suffered a severe impact and lost some important hidden data that will take a long time to recover. Therefore, I cannot know where I came from. But now we are bound together, so from now on, you have to listen to me; otherwise, you won’t be able to complete your mission," the robot said seriously.
"Mission?" Lu Fei Fan felt like he had been unwillingly tied to a sinking ship and was somewhat reluctant. "If there's no benefit for me, I'm not doing it."
"What if I told you that if I do not complete my mission, this world will face extinction? How would you feel about that?" The robot asked playfully while crossing its arms.
Lu Fei Fan was taken aback. Indeed, their world was one after an apocalypse; humanity was forced to survive on islands in the ocean while defending against various mutated monsters' attacks. Although Fusers could currently contend with these beasts, there was no guarantee that humanity wouldn't be overturned by nature again in the future.
"Well, that's fine; after all, whether rich or poor, we all die together," Lu Fei Fan shrugged nonchalantly.
"I am not human. So I do not understand human emotions. But those faces of friends and family that flashed through your mind earlier are important to you. If you have the ability to protect them in this world, why not try?" The robot said while still crossing its arms.
Lu Fei Fan fell silent for a moment before awkwardly smiling and waving his hand dismissively. "Threatening me won't work; I'm not buying into this. Besides, why should I serve you just because of what you've said?"
“I’m not threatening you. At least you and your father live on the edge of the ocean of your Free Federation. Sooner or later, a horde of monstrous sea beasts will break through the defenses established by humanity. When that happens, it will be your Extinction. By then, you won’t even have the ability to resist,” the robot said, shrugging as if it had nothing to do with it.
“Don’t joke around. This world is stable,” Lu Fei Fan replied, feeling that the robot was being overly alarmist. The Free Federation had been established for hundreds of years, and there were countless strong individuals. How could it possibly fall so easily?
“Some things, you’ll understand when you come to find me on the Virtual Network. The password is ‘I want to strip naked on a snowy ground full of glass shards and perform a 360-degree Thomas spin while kneeling down to beg for the elegant AI life deity.’” The robot rambled on with its instructions.
“Damn… more narcissistic than I am.”
“I’m older than you,” came the reply.
“Hey, what’s your name? Something like Fluffy? Lucky? Dog Egg?” Hua Fei quickly pressed for an answer.
The other party fell silent for a moment before answering with an audacity that surpassed even his own.
“Well, that’s a good question. Since I am a super Intelligent being embodying wisdom, beauty, justice, and elegance… from now on, please call me—‘Hero.’”
“……” Lu Fei Fan nearly spat out blood upon hearing this; this guy was definitely a shameless Intelligent with impressive skills!
