Damn! It's a good thing I kept a spare key.
"Yao Hui!" I pushed open the door, and a wave of the fresh paint smell hit me. How could they not find it overwhelming?
"Are you going to explain this to me?"
"What do I need to explain? You made the first mistake on your wedding night, cheated afterward, and now you still refuse to leave without a fight. Do you want this to end up in court for the drama?"
Yao Hui had indeed become someone unrecognizable to me, someone I found repulsive and even a bit frightening.
"What are you talking about? When did I cheat?" I was determined to play this out until everyone showed up.
"You still say you didn't cheat? Look at this!" Yao Hui pulled out her phone, and on the screen was a video of us passionately kissing on Yu Jiamin's birthday.
"I... what does that prove? I didn't cheat. I'll admit I was drunk that day and acted impulsively, but nothing happened! Where did you get this video?"
"Oh, so you're going to pretend now? You won't even acknowledge the evidence? Then I'll call witnesses!"
After saying that, she made a call, then another, and another... I felt like she was trying to summon the entire world.
"Is that all you can do—call people?"
" manager Yu? Can you come over to Building 12, Room 1011 at Fushan International? I'll be waiting for you..." I called Yu Jiamin.
"Ming Yuan, come over for a bit! I'll send you the location! Bring Mother with you!" I called Ma Mingyuan.
"Xiao Mei? Are you free? Come by for dinner... Yes, your sister Yuhui is treating..." This call went to Yao Hui's former company receptionist.
I never expected that on the very first day in our new home, it would be so lively.
"Chen Wang, tell me, what did you see that day?" Yao Hui took the lead in questioning.
"He... your husband and that beautiful woman..." Chen Wang, also known as Xiao Pang, said while casting a lewd glance at Yu Jiamin. "They were hugging each other!"
"What else do you have to say?" Yao Hui stood with her hands on her hips, mirroring her mother's stance perfectly.
"Dong Xiaohui, I thought you were a good son-in-law, yet you dared to do such disgraceful things behind my daughter's back? Oh dear, this family shame! How can my daughter and I live like this? Dong Xiaohui, just get out of here! Seeing you makes my eyes hurt..." Mother-in-law cried out dramatically, tears streaming down her face.
Yu Jiamin's face turned slightly red, but she remained composed, standing beside me. My mother clutched her chest tightly, while Ming Yuan quickly pulled her aside to comfort her.
As for me? I quietly pressed the remote control for the projector in the living room, casting the video from my phone onto the entire wall.
Just as Yao Hui was about to explode with anger, others gasped in shock at the video playing on the wall—it was quite an eye-opener...
"What is this? Turn it off, turn it off!" Yao Hui screamed hysterically, while her mother rushed to the wall, trying to shield her body from the indecent images.
Xiao Pang turned to cover his face and attempted to flee, but Ming Yuan yanked him back.
"Where do you think you're going, brother? Why not watch it all before leaving?" Ming Yuan said with a cheeky grin, completely dominating the situation.
It was time for the curtain call; I couldn't help but chuckle inwardly. However, I didn't expect that experience would be so enlightening...
Yao Hui began to cry, clutching my leg and sobbing uncontrollably. Between her tears, she stammered, "I'm sorry, Xiaohui. I was wrong. I'm begging you—consider our feelings and don't make a scene anymore. I'll send Mother home; we can be together and live happily like we used to. Can we do that?"
I merely stared at her coldly, noncommittal.
"What are you doing, girl? This is a matter for both sides; why are you crying?"
"Divorce! Split the assets, half for each of us. We won't take the house; let him cough up half the money!" The old woman crossed her arms defiantly.
"Divorce, is it? That's what you say!" I shot a glare at Yao Hui's mother, then turned to Yao Hui and asked, "What do you think?"
Yao Hui, proving to be quite the actress, immediately stopped crying. "Yes, divorce!"
I scoffed. "Yao Hui, your family really needs to learn some basic knowledge. How could a property deed held at the Real Estate Center be in anyone's personal possession before the loan is cleared?"
"What?" Yao Hui hurriedly rummaged through her suitcase and pulled out that fake property certificate, examining it closely.
"Stop looking; it's fake!" I said dismissively.
