Wukong smiled slightly. "Your Majesty sees clearly; I am but an ordinary mortal—how could I disturb human order?" His tone was sincere and humble, making it hard to believe he was a malevolent demon.
Taibai Jinxing stepped forward and pointed at Wukong. "Your Majesty, this man possesses strange abilities and has an unknown origin; he is undoubtedly a demon." Wukong hurriedly explained, "I report to you, Golden Star; I merely understand some medical skills—not any strange abilities. Outside Lingxiao Palace, Erlang Shen stood quietly observing. "Your Majesty," he said respectfully with cupped hands, "I believe this matter requires further investigation; perhaps there is more to it." Listening to Erlang Shen inside the hall revealed his respectful tone but also hinted at suspicion in his gaze.
