Regardless of what others thought, Chen Moxuan had become an undeniable presence in Heartless Valley.
"What are you following me for?"
Chen Moxuan walked at a leisurely pace, not minding if someone decided to attack him at that moment. Unfortunately, no one had the courage to do so. However, he soon noticed a small tail following him. It was the woman he suspected to be Wu Yinuo.
At first, Wu Yinuo kept her distance, cautiously trailing behind him. But gradually, she seemed to gain a bit of confidence and closed the gap between them. While Chen Moxuan couldn't be entirely sure it was her, the possibility lingered in his mind. Given their past encounters, he found it hard to ignore her presence.
So, he simply stopped and turned around to ask her directly.
Wu Yinuo was caught off guard by his question and halted in place, nervously shifting her feet. She neither spoke nor dared to meet Chen Moxuan's gaze. Seeing her like this left him at a loss for words. The two stood in silence for a moment.
Eventually, Chen Moxuan broke the silence again. "If you don’t say anything, I’m leaving!"
His words had an effect. Wu Yinuo finally lifted her head to look at him. However, after just a brief glance into his eyes, she quickly averted her gaze again.
In a low voice, she said, "I have nowhere to go!"
Chen Moxuan pondered what she meant by that. After a moment of thought, he replied, "Then just follow me!"
"Okay!"
Wu Yinuo didn't know why she had so readily agreed. Yet, her feet remained still.
"Come here! I'll take you to where I live!"
"Oh!"
At that moment, Wu Yinuo slowly walked over. Chen Moxuan didn't urge her. Watching her like this, a different feeling began to rise within him.
When Wu Yinuo reached his side, he continued to walk forward. The two of them didn’t speak further and walked all the way to Fu Bo's house.
Fu Bo was surprised to see Chen Moxuan return with a woman, but he quickly composed himself and refrained from expressing any opinions. He had previously suggested hiring someone to take care of Chen Moxuan, but that had been rejected.
Fu Bo noticed the change in Chen Moxuan's expression. "You can arrange a room for her to rest in, just make sure it's nearby! Treat her as a guest who will take care of you."
"Alright, Young Master, I will make sure everything is arranged perfectly!"
"By the way, I still don’t know how to address you."
"My name is Wu..."
Wu Yinuo almost let her real name slip out but managed to catch herself at the last moment. "I’m called Wuxin!"
"Wuxin? Then I shall call you Miss Wuxin from now on!"
At that moment, Chen Moxuan finally confirmed through Wu Yinuo's change in demeanor that she was indeed Wu Yinuo. Although he didn't know how she had altered her aura and appearance, it didn't matter. Since Wu Yinuo was unwilling to reveal her identity, he would pretend not to recognize her.
It was fine for the two of them to interact as friends; perhaps it would be more comfortable than revealing their identities and risking awkwardness.
No matter whether Chen Moxuan admitted it to himself or not, after what had happened, he could not pretend it had never occurred. As a result, he and Wu Yinuo could no longer interact like strangers.
"Thank you for taking me in, Young Master Chen!" Wu Yinuo seemed to have adapted to her new identity, finally appearing less constrained.
Fu Bo was also quickly arranging her room, making sure it was close to where Chen Moxuan stayed.
In the following days, Chen Moxuan continued to practice the Five Senses Separation Technique and the Nine Transformations of Death. Each day, he would see Wu Yinuo.
At first, Wu Yinuo simply watched him train in silence. However, as time went on, she couldn't help but engage him in discussions about training techniques. Although she lacked extensive combat experience, she had inherited the training insights from generations of Heartless Valley Masters. She was well-versed in various martial skills.
Previously, no one had discussed these topics with her; she had always explored and summarized them on her own. With Chen Moxuan around, she found that her understanding of these experiences deepened significantly. Many things that had once puzzled her became clear, and aspects she struggled to grasp were now within her reach. This brought her joy.
On one hand, her strength was increasing. On the other hand, she felt happy interacting with Chen Moxuan. It was a feeling she had never experienced before.
Chen Moxuan was also surprised by Wu Yinuo's insights. Although she seemed like a novice in many aspects of training, her understanding was profound. Sometimes, all he needed to do was offer a small suggestion, and Wu Yinuo would make connections effortlessly. She even proposed ideas that inspired him.
He hadn't expected her talent and comprehension to be so remarkable! As they spent time together, both of them made progress. Though they hadn’t explicitly acknowledged their relationship, they undoubtedly grew closer!
Three days had passed, and Chen Moxuan had yet to receive an apology from Guangming Tian. It was unclear whether Guangming Tian was unwilling to apologize or simply felt it unnecessary. However, Chen Moxuan did not seek out Guangming Tian to confront him.
He had already cultivated the fifth layer of the Nine Turns Death Technique and decided to go to Small Hillock to absorb the Death Aura. He planned to break through to the sixth layer of the Nine Transformations of Death before addressing anything else.
"I need to go somewhere to break through my technique. Are you staying here in the courtyard or coming with me?" he asked.
"I'll go with you," Wu Yinuo replied immediately after Chen Moxuan finished speaking.
"Great," he said, and together they headed towards Small Hillock.
This time, as he brought Wu Yinuo along, Chen Moxuan took a moment to disguise himself so that others would not recognize him easily. This was also to avoid any unnecessary trouble. Moreover, he preferred that no one knew about his training at Small Hillock. His instincts told him that the skeletons underground were not simple.
With Wu Yinuo accompanying him, he wondered if she would recognize the origins of those skeletons. If anyone in Heartless Valley could identify them, it would surely be Wu Yinuo, as the Heartless Valley Master.
As they walked through the streets, Chen Moxuan overheard some people discussing his recent exploits. He was relieved that he had disguised himself; otherwise, he would have undoubtedly attracted attention. After all, it had only been three days since he killed Wushuang Elder.
Soon after, they arrived at Small Hillock.
"I need to cultivate a secret technique and absorb Death Aura from underground. For some reason, there are many skeletons down there, creating a dense Death Aura," he explained. "This is an Earth Escape Talisman; if you attach it to yourself, you'll find it much easier to enter underground."
