As the old man's voice fell, a group of men in black emerged, armed with weapons. There were only two types of weapons: handguns and long knives. At this moment, aside from Jiang Chen's team, all the other teams still had cards. Especially the team led by the muscular Young Muscle Man, who had obtained first place in the first round and now held twelve cards.
Even if they used half of their cards to purchase weapons, they would still have more cards left than the other teams. They calculated that as long as they bought enough weapons to pass through the wolf pack, they would earn ten additional cards, making them the team with the most cards once again.
With this plan in mind, they directly spent seven cards to purchase five handguns and four long knives. No matter how fierce the wolf pack was, they feared handguns.
Three minutes later, the weapons were purchased.
"Alright, which team will go through first?" the old man asked.
The crowd fell silent; no one wanted to be the first to step forward. Even the well-equipped Young Muscle Man's team dared not speak up. After all, these were ordinary people; even with cannons, they wouldn’t dare rush into a pack of wolves. It required more than just ordinary courage!
"I'll go," a voice suddenly rang out.
As someone volunteered to take the lead, everyone looked up in surprise. When they saw it was Jiang Chen, they were all taken aback, their expressions filled with disbelief. They simply couldn't understand where Jiang Chen found the confidence to take such a risk. He didn't even have a weapon and was leading two girls into the wolf pack—wasn't that just asking for death?
Especially Liu Zhi and Liang Hong, who were already feeling desperate; upon hearing Jiang Chen volunteer, they nearly collapsed in fear.
"Jiang, Brother Jiang, let's wait a bit; I don't want to die yet," Liu Zhi stammered.
"Brother Jiang, I'm scared! I don't want to be eaten by wolves," Liang Hong added.
They were on the verge of tears and regretted teaming up with Jiang Chen. To everyone else, Jiang Chen's actions seemed reckless and foolish. Liu Zhi and Liang Hong thought that if they hadn’t teamed up with him, perhaps they could survive a little longer.
"It’s fine; let’s go," Jiang Chen said with a dismissive smile.
Seeing that Jiang Chen was determined to face danger head-on, the others naturally didn’t try to dissuade him; instead, they hoped he would test the strength of the wolf pack himself.
The foreign old man finally cast a proper glance at Jiang Chen, but he didn’t think much of it.
"Then let your team be the first to pass the second trial. I hope you can escape the jaws of the wolves," the old man said with a faint smile, before signaling for the gate to be opened.
Without a word, Jiang Chen stepped inside. Liu Zhi and Liang Hong, though terrified and trembling, had no choice at this point; the black-clad men pushed them into the enclosure and closed the iron gate behind them.
Everyone outside watched intently.
As soon as the wolf pack noticed newcomers, their black fur bristled, and their eyes fixed on Jiang Chen.
Liu Zhi and Liang Hong huddled against the edge of the wall, too scared to move forward.
Jiang Chen shook his head and said nothing more, simply walking ahead.
Seeing Jiang Chen approach the wolf pack as if taking a leisurely stroll, those outside felt a wave of tension wash over them.
"Is this kid trying to commit suicide?"
"Seems like it; he must have given up on life," several people whispered among themselves. Jiang Chen's actions were indistinguishable from those of someone seeking death, leaving them no choice but to speculate—unless, of course, Jiang Chen was simply out of his mind.
As the wolf pack observed Jiang Chen's approach, they bared their teeth and crouched slightly, seemingly ready to pounce. But just then, Jiang Chen lifted his eyelids and glanced indifferently at the Hungry Wolves.
