Early the next morning, the sunlight streamed through the cracks in the curtains, casting a warm hue over the entire room. Xu Yi woke up and found that she was feeling much better. The fatigue and discomfort from the previous night seemed to have dissipated. She stretched lazily, feeling the strength returning to her body gradually.
She looked towards the bed and found that Chenchen, Yao Lu, and Bai Jinxi were still asleep. They must not have rested well last night in order to take care of her. Xu Yi felt a warm surge in her heart and got up gently, afraid of waking them. She walked to the window, pulled back the curtains, and let the sunlight pour into the dormitory. The sunlight illuminated the entire room, as well as Xu Yi's heart.
She turned back to the bedside and quietly watched the peaceful sleeping faces of the three. There was a hint of weariness on their faces, but their mouths curved into smiles, as if they were happy for Xu Yi's improvement. Xu Yi was filled with gratitude, knowing that it was these three friends who had unhesitatingly reached out to help her when she needed it most.
Xu Yi decided to prepare breakfast for them as a thank-you for taking care of them. She quietly walked out of the dormitory and headed to the cafeteria.
Jian Chen woke up early with a sense of inexplicable anxiety. He quickly got ready and decided to try his luck at the cafeteria, hoping to run into Xu Yi or her roommates. He had a small wish in his heart, which was to do something for her, even if it was just silently being by her side.
As he walked into the cafeteria, his gaze wandered through the crowd, finally catching sight of Xu Yi's familiar figure.
He quietly followed Xu Yi, silently observing her every move. He saw her gentle smile, which touched his heart. How he wished he could be by her side, to support her and let her rest. However, Jian Chen knew he couldn't disturb her so suddenly.
Just as Jian Chen was lost in his thoughts, Xu Yi suddenly turned around, and their eyes met, both showing a hint of surprise.
She hesitated for a moment, then quickly regained her composure. She didn't want to have too much interaction with Jian Chen at this time, as she was more concerned about her three friends in the dormitory. So, she turned away and continued to wait for breakfast.
However, Jian Chen did not leave. He silently followed behind Xu Yi, watching her figure, his heart filled with complex emotions.
He knew that his actions might make Xu Yi feel uncomfortable, but he couldn't help wanting to get closer to her, wanting to do something for her. Although Xu Yi didn't show it on the surface, she felt somewhat uneasy about Jian Chen following her. She didn't understand why Jian Chen was doing this, nor did she know how to respond. So, she quickened her movements.
Finally, Xu Yi got all the breakfast and was ready to leave the cafeteria. But at the moment she turned around, she saw Jian Chen's gaze again. She frowned slightly, wanting to say something, but in the end, she didn't speak. The two of them walked out of the cafeteria, one in front and one behind, heading towards the direction of the dormitory. Jian Chen always maintained a certain distance, neither approaching nor leaving. Xu Yi deliberately quickened her pace, wanting to widen the distance between her and Jian Chen.
However, Jian Chen seemed unwilling to give up. He always followed behind Xu Yi, maintaining a certain distance no matter how fast Xu Yi walked. Xu Yi gradually began to feel impatient, but she didn't want to argue with Jian Chen in front of everyone. Finally, the two arrived downstairs at the dormitory. Xu Yi stopped and turned to look at Jian Chen, asking, "What are you doing?" Her tone carried a hint of dissatisfaction and confusion.
Jian Chen was taken aback by the sudden question from Xu Yi, and he paused before speaking in a low voice, "I... I just... wanted..." His voice trailed off.
Xu Yi looked at Jian Chen with a complex expression in her eyes. She sighed softly and said, "I don't want to see you anymore." With that, she turned and walked towards the dormitory.
As Jian Chen watched Xu Yi's retreating figure, he felt a deep sense of loss and helplessness. He knew that he might never be able to enter Xu Yi's heart.
