Bai Jinxi knew that Xu Yi needed some easily digestible and nutritious food, so she decided to buy a bowl of hot porridge. She walked out of the dormitory, and although it was late at night, the convenience stores and cafeterias on campus were still brightly lit. Bai Jinxi chose a Time-honored congee shop not far from the dormitory, known for its rich variety of porridge flavors and its use of fresh ingredients and long cooking times.
Walking into the Porridge shop, Bai Jinxi was attracted by the aroma of rice and the sweet scent of porridge wafting from the shop. She looked around and saw a variety of porridge, including Preserved Egg and Lean Pork Congee, fish slice porridge, pumpkin porridge, and so on. After a moment of thought, she felt that Xu Yi was currently weak and should eat something easily digestible, so she decided to buy a bowl of pumpkin millet porridge.
Bai Jinxi walked up to the counter and said to the waiter, "Please give me a bowl of Pumpkin millet porridge, and also, please help me pack a side dish, something light." The waiter nodded with a smile and quickly prepared it for her.
Bai Jinxi carefully carried the packed porridge and side dish, and hurried back to the dormitory.
As she pushed open the door to the dormitory, Chenchen and Yao Lu were standing by Xu Yi's bed, comforting her in a soft voice.
Xu Yi looks a bit tired. Bai Jinxi walks to the bedside, places the pumpkin millet porridge and some side dishes on the bedside table, and softly says to Xu Yi, "I bought you pumpkin millet porridge and some side dishes. Drink some porridge first, so your body will recover faster."
Xu Yi nods and struggles to sit up. Seeing this, Bai Jinxi quickly helps her up and adjusts her into a comfortable position.
She opens the porridge box, and a gentle heat accompanied by the fragrance of pumpkin and millet wafts out. Bai Jinxi gently blows on it, then hands it to Xu Yi and starts feeding her in small spoonfuls.
Chenchen and Yao Lu stood by, feeling a warm sensation in their hearts. It seemed like the first time they had seen Bai Jinxi looking so serious. They knew that, in this special moment, caring for each other was more important than anything else. So, they silently watched over Xu Yi until she fell asleep peacefully. As the night grew deeper, only a soft desk lamp was lit in the dorm room, casting a warm glow over Xu Yi's sickbed.
Chenchen, Yao Lu, and Bai Jinxi take turns taking care of Xu Yi, ensuring that she receives timely care when needed.
Bai Jinxi took the first shift by Xu Yi's bedside. She gently tucked Xu Yi in, adjusted her to a more comfortable position, and then sat by the bed, quietly reading a book. Occasionally, she would look up to check on Xu Yi, making sure she was safe and sound.
As the night grew late, Bai Jinxi felt a hint of drowsiness and gently woke up Yao Lu to take over for her.
Yao Lu quickly got up, walked to the bedside, changed a cup of hot water for Xu Yi, and softly asked her if she needed anything. Xu Yi gently shook her head, indicating that she was feeling much better.
After sitting down, Yao Lu began to speak softly about some lighthearted topics, trying to help Xu Yi relax. She shared some interesting stories and news from school, attempting to distract Xu Yi and alleviate her pain.
Time passed slowly, and Yao Lu began to feel tired. She gently patted Chenchen's shoulder. Chenchen immediately got up, walked to the bedside, and checked Xu Yi's temperature to ensure everything was normal. Then she sat on the edge of the bed and started telling Xu Yi some light-hearted stories. Her voice was gentle and magnetic, quickly immersing Xu Yi in the world of the stories. Bai Jinxi also occasionally asked Xu Yi in a soft voice if they were comfortable and if they needed to adjust their position.
Throughout the night, the three of them took turns taking care of Xu Yi, ensuring that she could rest peacefully. They demonstrated friendship and love through their actions, allowing Xu Yi to feel warmth and strength amidst her illness. Under their care, Xu Yi's condition gradually improved, and she also began to regain her former vitality.
