When Luo Xuezhi arrived at Guan Su Lin's office, it was empty. The secretary led her in and then focused intently on making tea, the rich aroma filling the air.
Luo Xuezhi felt a bit anxious and couldn't help but ask, "How much longer until Mr. Guan returns?"
Without lifting her head, the secretary replied in a calm tone, "Mr. Guan is currently in a meeting. He should be back in about half an hour. Please wait a moment."
Luo Xuezhi responded with a distracted "mm," turning her head to look out the window. Her expression was stiff, a result of her efforts to suppress the turmoil within.
The secretary's estimation was spot on; just after half an hour, Guan Su Lin pushed the door open and entered.
He was dressed in a soft-colored suit, his bone structure striking and his demeanor elegant.
Guan Su Lin set down some documents, removed his suit jacket, and handed it to the secretary while rolling up his sleeves to reveal a clean, fair arm.
With a smile, he said, "Right on time."
Luo Xuezhi's face was pale as she glanced at the secretary who had just left and closed the door behind her.
As soon as the secretary's figure disappeared, Luo Xuezhi impatiently asked, "Do you have any good plans right now?"
Guan Su Lin leisurely poured tea and replied softly, "I have my own ideas. Don't rush; let's drink tea and chat."
He stood up with two cups of tea and approached Luo Xuezhi, placing them down for her to choose first.
"It's green tea, brewed lightly; you can drink it as you like."
Luo Xuezhi held the cup and said, "Thank you."
Guan Su Lin sat down across from her and got straight to the point: "Wei Nanxuan has always hoped that his son could make some good friends. You might consider starting from this angle."
Luo Xuezhi frowned. "What kind of friends could he make? I’m afraid I don't have that capability to intervene."
"It doesn't necessarily have to be friends. It's indeed unfortunate that the previous engagement with the Zheng family fell through, but finding a young lady with a simple background shouldn't be too difficult."
Luo Xuezhi disagreed even more. "Are you suggesting I find him a new engagement partner? I've heard he has deep feelings for Miss Zheng."
"Deep feelings? Haven't they already severed ties?"
Guan Su Lin took a sip of tea and adjusted his phone to show Luo Xuezhi something on the screen, lightly tapping it with his finger.
"The news isn't false; throwing away tokens of affection like that has become widely known. Your stepson might be more ruthless than you think."
Luo Xuezhi's expression darkened, but one could sense that she was slightly loosening up.
She asked, "What benefits would there be for me in introducing him to someone?"
Guan Su Lin smiled knowingly and said, "The arrangements for the people you introduce are entirely up to you. Are you planning to place an informant or a spy? It's your decision. A socialite doesn't necessarily have to be a socialite; she could also be an actress."
"Moreover, it doesn't matter whether Wei Jingxi accepts it or not. As long as Wei Nanxuan sees your intentions, isn't that enough? You've always cared about his son."
Luo Xuezhi seemed to understand, "So it's all just an act, right?"
"Yes," Guan Su Lin replied, "Very clever."
After Luo Xuezhi left, he picked up the empty teacup stained with lipstick and examined it closely, a cold yet intriguing smile appearing on his face.
To quickly get the hang of the business, Wei Jingxi was running back and forth between the company and school. He wasn't particularly interested in managing the company and disliked the insincerity of social gatherings.
But there was no choice; if he didn't work hard, how would he support a wife in the future?
Wei Jingxi wasn't entirely lacking in talent either. The tips his assistant taught him were something he could master after just two or three tries. He didn't care whether Wei Nanxuan was satisfied; he was content with his own progress.
There were many things that Wei Jingxi had already learned, but he enjoyed pretending not to understand and would eagerly run to ask Xiao Ni for help.
Zheng Mengni was always patient in answering his questions. It wasn't that she wanted to help Wei Jingxi grow quickly; she simply enjoyed the process of solving problems.
