Ye Siqian replied, "What do you want with her?"
"He promised me that as long as I listened to him, I could live a good life and escape this lowly identity. But where is he now?!"
Ye Siqian sneered coldly. "What are you thinking? My sister is your savior? Why should she help you live a good life?"
Xia Shu felt a surge of despair and momentarily lost control, shouting at him, "He promised me! I've done things for him! I even pretended to be an idiot and went to that welfare home for him! Now he just disappears without a word—what does he take me for?!"
Ye Siqian's gaze was sharp and venomous, filled with suppressed malice. He scoffed disdainfully, "Of course he thinks you're an idiot. What kind of joke is this? You still fantasize about being someone important?"
Xia Shu found it impossible to communicate with him, her eyes reddening. "Don't slander me! When did I ever say I wanted to be someone important? Even if my life could be just a little better than it is now, I'd be satisfied! But your sister is nothing but a liar. She probably abandoned both of us to enjoy her riches!"
Ye Siqian grabbed Xia Shu by the collar, using his height to lift her up as he glared at her menacingly, gritting his teeth. "Don't try to sow discord. My sister is not that kind of person. She would never abandon anyone, especially not me!"
Xia Shu forced a bitter smile. "So, I really have been discarded by him."
