Tan Yan's skin was an unnatural shade of red, with marks lingering on his neck. Wei Jingxi struggled to suppress the urge to kill him. He forced himself not to dwell on the unpleasant events that had already transpired. He had to learn from past lessons; he couldn't afford to confront Tan Yan again. Xiao Ni had once said she hated troublemakers and despised those who loved to fight.
Wei Jingxi reminded himself to stay calm. It would be even better if Tan Yan made the first move; that way, Xiao Ni would see that he was the one who truly thrived on violence. He had a decent understanding of the current situation, but it was too late when he started looking into Gao Lei. Tan Yan had already taken the initiative and dealt with him.
Without wasting a moment, Wei Jingxi drove to the hotel where Zheng Mengni and Gao Lei were secretly meeting. Sure enough, this shameless scoundrel—had he cleaned himself up before coming here? How dare he sneak into Xiao Ni's bed? What a disgusting playboy!
Wei Jingxi tried to comfort himself, thinking that Xiao Ni had simply been broken up with him for too long; she had no obligation to remain pure for him. Someone like Tan Yan, who hadn't even seen her in person, must have terrible skills in bed. Xiao Ni would only appreciate his qualities after tasting them.
Tan Yan silently observed Wei Jingxi, whose face was nearly twitching from suppressed rage. It seemed he had learned to be more clever, refraining from going insane as soon as he entered. For Xiao Ni's sake, Wei Jingxi's patience had reached an astonishing level.
To be honest, if their roles were reversed, Tan Yan couldn't guarantee he wouldn't ruin Wei Jingxi with his own hands. The two locked eyes, surprisingly calm and composed, standing in silent confrontation at the door.
Tan Yan broke the silence first: "If there's nothing else, I'll close the door now. After all, not everyone is as kind as Xiao Ni, willing to indulge you in your childish and boring games."
Wei Jingxi raised his hand against the doorframe to prevent Tan Yan from shutting it. He believed there was a two-hundred percent chance Tan Yan would slam the door and crush his hand in the process.
"I need to see Xiao Ni about something," he said. "I'll be done once I ask her."
"But she has no reason to see you and isn't available to resolve your issues," Tan Yan replied.
"Xiao Ni will decide for herself whether she wants to see me; you have no right to speak on her behalf."
Tan Yan smiled: "Do you really think so?"
Wei Jingxi understood his insinuation all too well; his heart had shattered into countless pieces over this matter. But if it meant seeing Tan Yan suffer a setback, he would gladly crush his already broken heart into dust.
"You think just because you spent one night with her, you're special in Xiao Ni's eyes? What era are we living in, Tan Yan? Don't play games you can't afford; she hasn't given you any title—you're nothing more than a toy, understand?"
Tan Yan smiled enigmatically, his eyes filled with immense indulgence. No one could harm him except Zheng Mengni.
With just a few provocative words, Wei Jingxi felt a wave of discomfort wash over him. He couldn't help but think that Xiao Ni must have underestimated his worth.
It was amusing, really; toys came in all sorts, from expensive to cheap. But if Xiao Ni had her eye on him, he considered himself priceless.
Tan Yan's stubbornness and feigned innocence made Wei Jingxi feel nauseated. He had no desire to waste even a single word on such a fool; it would be pointless.
How could someone who was being toyed with still feel so smug?
Xiao Ni was not the type to sleep with just anyone.
If she did, it would undoubtedly be for ulterior motives.
Wei Jingxi's gaze turned cold. He was not one to smile easily, and the forced grin that twisted his features only looked grotesque and frightening in the end.
"I don't want to waste my breath with you. I'm looking for Xiao Ni, and this isn't your room. You'd better find somewhere else to cool off."
As he spoke, an idea struck him, and his eyes filled with disdain.
He mockingly said, "Tan Yan, it's not that I look down on you, but coming out to play and not even being able to afford a room? And now you're crashing in someone else's?"
Tan Yan remained unfazed. "Thanks for the reminder. Next time, I'll make sure to book in advance. Better safe than sorry."
Wei Jingxi could barely contain himself; he had endured enough. It felt like his mind was consumed by nothing else!
And how dare he even think about next time!
Just as he was about to explode, a soft and sweet voice floated from the room.
"Wei Jingxi, are you looking for me?"
