Ye Bing was about to refuse when he suddenly realized he had forgotten to pull his hand away from hers. The words slipped out before he could swallow them back. He actually said: "Sure."
He looked at the sign for the women's restroom, paused, and said expressionlessly, "Let's just do it outside. What’s the rush?"
Zheng Mengni shook her head. "No, the button on my skirt came off. I’m afraid of being exposed out there."
Ye Bing guessed what she wanted him to do. Such a gentle and polite request would seem overly callous if he refused. Besides, his purpose was to get closer to Zheng Mengni.
She stared intently into his eyes, her delicate and beautiful face showing a hint of shyness. "Please, just come in."
"Okay."
Ye Bing quickly found a reasonable excuse for himself and allowed Zheng Mengni to pull him into the restroom.
Having been a man for twenty-six years, he wouldn’t be brainwashed just because he had switched bodies. He never considered himself as the main character; he merely saw himself as a temporary inhabitant waiting to complete his mission and return to his own body.
No matter which shell he used, he was still himself.
So, while out in public, Ye Bing had never entered a women's restroom before. This was his first exception.
The restroom stall felt cramped with two people squeezed inside. Zheng Mengni turned her back to him, exposing her defenseless neck and delicate shoulders.
"Can you see if there's a way to cover up where the thread came undone? There are so many people outside, and I... I don’t know what to do," she said in a soft, thin voice, lacking sincerity as she continued, "I’m really sorry to trouble you."
Her voice trembled slightly, yet her beautiful face was cloaked in an icy indifference, with her clear pupils hiding darkness that contradicted her innocent appearance.
The button she had deliberately cut off with an eyebrow razor was hidden away. She selfishly didn’t want Ye Bing to appear in Zheng Yicheng's line of sight.
Ye Bing gazed at her waist, which was astonishingly slender. The Zheng Family was so wealthy; they shouldn't let their daughter go hungry.
In the next moment, he noticed something unusual. Ye Bing reached out and pinched the thread at the back of her waist. The end of the thread was too neatly cut; the button couldn't have simply fallen off—it looked more like it had been deliberately sliced open.
Of course, a young lady so meticulously groomed wouldn't wear a low-quality dress. Not to mention luxury items worth thousands, even cheap trinkets rarely had issues with buttons falling off.
What was going on? Was there no other choice?
Sensing that the person behind her had yet to make a move, Zheng Mengni turned her head. Her eyelashes fluttered gently, and the clear depths of her eyes reflected Ye Bing's face, which was so close.
They were exceptionally near to each other. To facilitate fixing her unravelling dress, Ye Bing sat on the toilet lid with his legs spread apart, while Zheng Mengni stood between them.
As she turned and lowered her head, their breaths intertwined. Their gazes locked, neither of them flinching, as time seemed to stretch and freeze in that moment.
The restroom had just been cleaned, devoid of any unpleasant odors; a faint scent of air freshener lingered in the air.
Seeing that Ye Bing remained unresponsive, she softly said above him, "If there's truly no way to fix it, then let's just forget about it."
Ye Bing lifted his gaze and smiled brightly. "There is a way—just lower your head."
