The alarm clock rang, and Zheng Mengni perked up, heading to the bathroom to freshen up. In the mirror, her face looked pale, and her eyelids were swollen. She hurriedly lowered her head to avoid looking at the unappealing reflection of herself. 0

After washing up, she moved next door to the dressing room, running her fingers over the soft fabrics, her emotions swirling in turmoil. After standing in a daze for a while, Zheng Mengni finally chose a simple milk-blue umbrella skirt. 0

She had the maid style her hair into a bun as usual, with a hairpin in the same color as her skirt adorning the left side. Once she finished her makeup, she felt her spirit lift somewhat. 0

Her heart-shaped face was beautifully delicate, with eyes as clear as a lake sparkling like stars. Her flawless white skin glowed with a tender pink hue, and her lips resembled roses kissed by morning dew. 0

She picked up her bag and had just stepped downstairs when she heard A-Qin and Sun Yao calling out, "Xiao Ni, you're awake! Come have breakfast!" 0

She handed her bag to the maid and sat down at the dining table. Across from her was Zheng Zeqi, beside him was Sun Yao, while their father, Zheng Yicheng, had already left for a business trip early in the morning. 0

On her plate lay a golden-brown croissant topped with Greek yogurt, accompanied by a soft-boiled egg, butter, salmon, and caviar—all of which she loved. 0

"How's your eye?" Zheng Zeqi glanced at Zheng Mengni while lifting his coffee cup. She wore light makeup like usual, but her eyelids were noticeably puffy. 0

"Xiao Ni, let me take a look," Sun Yao said anxiously, turning to stare at Zheng Mengni with concern. 0

Realizing it was too obvious, Zheng Mengni decided to be straightforward. She faced Sun Yao and gave an innocent smile, saying sweetly, "Mom, yesterday Wei Jingxi recommended a movie to me. The ending was so touching that I couldn't help but cry." 0

Sun Yao chuckled helplessly. "What movie made my darling cry? I should watch it too." 0

"Sure! I can come home this weekend after school and watch it with you again. Just remember to have some tissues ready." 0

"Great! I'll ask the maid to buy a bunch of your favorite snacks so we can eat while we watch." 0

Suddenly, Zheng Zeqi set down his coffee cup and remarked thoughtfully, "Xiao Ni seems to be getting along much better with Wei Jingxi lately." 0

Zheng Mengni replied casually, "We're just chatting." 0

Zheng Zeqi pondered for a moment. "No wonder you hardly mentioned him before." 0

However, Sun Yao's expression changed slightly. "Xiao Ni, when it comes to relationships, you must follow your own heart. I've heard about that Wei family; his personality doesn't seem to match yours very well." 0

As she spoke, Sun Yao gently placed her hand on Zheng Mengni's shoulder and said earnestly, "I may not understand all the twists and turns of business matters, but I've heard your father mention that the Wei family has been developing rapidly lately. With our Zheng family's strength, we don't need to use your marriage as leverage. If you truly don't like someone, don't force yourself into it, okay?" 0

Zheng Zeqi remained silent, his gaze drifting away from Zheng Mengni's face as he leisurely spread honey on his toast, its golden hue looking incredibly tempting. 0

After a moment, Zheng Mengni said, "Mom, I don't dislike him. It's just that he asked to borrow my notes yesterday, and I feel like he's become more motivated than before, so I thought I could help him out." 0

Sun Yao smiled brightly, praising her without reservation. "You truly are my precious Xiao Ni, kind-hearted and generous. Spending time with you has even made Wei Jingxi behave better." 0

"He’s coming to pick me up for school later, so you don’t need to have the driver prepare the car," she added. 0

Sun Yao was somewhat incredulous. "He actually wants to go to school? But you still need to be cautious. After all, he is from the Wei family. His father is quite cunning, and while his son may lack business acumen, that slyness can be inherited. You're a girl, and emotions can make you more vulnerable, understand?" 0

Zheng Mengni nodded obediently. "I understand, Mom." 0

Zheng Zeqi looked on with a gentle smile in his eyes as he raised his head, his warm gaze landing on Zheng Mengni's face. 0

He softly said, "It's rare for me to have a day off and want to take my sister to school, but it seems someone beat me to it." 0

The last part was directed at Sun Yao: "What should I do? As an older brother, I can't ignore my brother-in-law's good intentions." 0
