Feng Tianlong's mind was a chaotic mess, thoughts swirling in a haze. His body was trapped beneath the rubble, struggling to push one hand free from the debris. With a jolt of excruciating pain, his fingertips finally brushed against the air, but the anger and shame within him burned like a raging fire, spreading relentlessly from the depths of his heart.
"Damn it... damn it..." Feng Tianlong muttered under his breath, his eyes filled with hatred. His teeth clenched tightly as the humiliation of that moment echoed in his mind—the overwhelming power that had left him feeling more defeated than ever. Instinctively, he wanted to rise and fight again, to tear apart Li Ming, who had dared to challenge his dignity. However, as he attempted to stand, an overwhelming sense of weakness washed over him.
His Spiritual Energy was nearly depleted; the recently unleashed Dark Dragon Awakening had drained him of his remaining strength. Feng Tianlong felt as if he had been hollowed out, too weak to move. He tried to gather his Spiritual Energy but found he could no longer summon any power from within, plunging him into a deep despair.
"How is this possible..." Feng Tianlong murmured to himself; such failure was nearly unacceptable for him. He had once been an invincible powerhouse, effortlessly crushing those who thought too highly of themselves time and again. Yet now, he could not deny that he lacked the strength to face the lightning-fast Li Ming.
His fingers curled into fists, the palms turning white from exertion. Anger and shame intertwined within him, nearly driving him mad. Yet even amidst this turmoil, Feng Tianlong could not hide the flicker of fear deep inside—fear that he truly was powerless to fight any longer.
"No... I won't lose... how could I possibly lose!" Feng Tianlong's voice grew hoarse, tinged with a frenzied desperation. His eyes burned red with rage, yet his body betrayed his will, refusing to move even an inch.
He understood that in his current state, he could hardly endure another battle like the one just fought. Each breath felt heavy, like a weight pressing down on his chest; he longed for combat and victory, but reality shattered those hopes mercilessly. All he could do was helplessly watch as Li Ming's figure drew closer through the rubble—the very person who had just sent him crashing down.
A tide of boundless hatred surged within Feng Tianlong, yet he knew he could not reverse this fate.
Gritting his teeth, Feng Tianlong glared at Li Ming as he approached step by step. Each footfall struck like a hammer against his heart, fueling his fury. His eyes were bloodshot, chest rising and falling violently as countless curses swirled in his mind, almost spilling from his lips.
"This damned waste..." Feng Tianlong growled softly, fists clenched so tightly that his nails nearly dug into his palms. Just as he prepared to unleash a torrent of insults at Li Ming, a familiar and eerie voice suddenly echoed in his mind.
"It seems... you've run into trouble again, Feng Tianlong." The voice was deep and mocking, as if relishing in his current predicament.
Feng Tianlong's entire body jolted at the sound; his expression changed dramatically as realization dawned upon him—Qin Tian, the one who lurked behind him and monitored everything about him. It was this person who had carved deep marks upon his being, holding him firmly under control.
Feng Tianlong was so angry that he felt like he could bite his teeth to pieces, yet he remained silent, merely conveying his uncontrollable fury through his gaze. He was unwilling to exchange another word with Qin Tian; his current situation was already dire, and he feared that if he spoke any further, he would completely lose control.
Qin Tian's laughter echoed in his mind, filled with disdain and indifference, as if mocking Feng Tianlong's incompetence and helplessness.
"Hahaha, what's wrong? Driven to this state by a worthless fool, and you can't even speak?" Qin Tian's voice grew clearer, piercing Feng Tianlong's heart like a steel needle, making him want to unleash all his rage on the shadow lurking in the darkness.
Feng Tianlong clenched his fists tightly, his arms trembling violently with anger. However, he knew that he was utterly powerless against Qin Tian; even self-preservation was a challenge. He could only suppress the fury within him, trying to keep his emotions from erupting.
"You can't go on like this, Feng Tianlong," Qin Tian said with a hint of contempt in his voice. "You must remember that I gave you this power, and I can take it back at any time. If I'm not satisfied, you'll have to bear the consequences."
Feng Tianlong gritted his teeth but couldn't utter a single word. He understood that what Qin Tian said was true; this power came from him, and Feng Tianlong's life and death were almost entirely in Qin Tian's hands. Yet this humiliation and sense of powerlessness ignited an even stronger desire for vengeance within him. He craved power, yearned to break free from all these constraints, and even if it meant paying any price, he would eliminate everyone who stood in his way.
As Feng Tianlong watched Li Ming approach step by step, the anger within him was about to erupt like a volcano. His eyes turned bloodshot, veins bulged on his forehead, and he shouted hoarsely in his mind at Qin Tian, "Lend me your power! Now!"
Qin Tian heard Feng Tianlong's cry but remained unmoved; instead, he burst into laughter filled with endless mockery and disdain. "Hahahaha, lend you my power? Just look at your pitiful state!" Qin Tian's voice was as cold as a blade, each word stabbing into Feng Tianlong's heart. "I've already lent you so many troops; what happened? Those soldiers and generals are all dead now. And you? Not a shred of Spiritual Energy left—can't even muster the strength to save your own life—and you dare ask me for more power?"
Feng Tianlong's fists were clenched so tightly that his nails nearly pierced his palms. The anger burned within him, making him tremble all over, yet he couldn't vent it out. He knew that Qin Tian was deliberately humiliating him, but at this moment, he couldn't refute it because everything Qin Tian said was the truth. This made him feel utterly humiliated; he wished he could tear apart the guy hiding in the shadows.
"You truly disappoint me, Feng Tianlong," Qin Tian said with scornful amusement in his voice. "A commander reduced to this state—what an eye-opener you've been for me. Don't you find yourself laughable?"
Feng Tianlong's fury had reached its peak; his teeth ground together audibly as every muscle in his body tensed from suppressing his anger. But he understood that at this moment, he could not explode. No matter what Qin Tian said, he had to endure it because the only thing that could save him now was Qin Tian's power.
"Qin Tian..." Feng Tianlong struggled to suppress the rage within him, speaking with a firm tone laced with restraint. "I'll do whatever you ask of me, but right now... lend me your power!"
Qin Tian's laughter abruptly ceased as he coldly remarked, "So now you know to beg for mercy? Feng Tianlong, seeing you in such a pitiful state truly disappoints me. However, since you are so desperate for power, I suppose I can help you one more time..."
Feng Tianlong gritted his teeth, a mix of anger and humiliation swirling within him, nearly causing his heart to burst. Yet he understood that all of this was for survival, for the sake of gaining strength. He could only endure, no matter how much humiliation he faced; he had to hold on.
