"Xiaoxue, it's not that I don't want to help you, but this situation is wrong. We can't do this!"
Guan Weiguang anxiously grabbed Chixuecha's arm. "If this gets out, not only will I be unable to stay in the army, but you won't be able to remain here either. It could even affect Team Leader Chi! He has already given up his chance for promotion because of you. Are you really going to take away his opportunity for a peaceful retirement?"
"Xiaoxue, your brother's family is still on the island. Do you really want them to hate you in the future?"
Chixuecha blinked her eyes and forcefully shook off Guan Weiguang's hand, turning away with a loud voice. "What does this have to do with my brother's family? Why should they hate me? This is what they owe me; the Chi family owes me! What's wrong with me wanting to plan for myself? What's wrong with that?"
Guan Weiguang lowered his head, feeling both anxious and helpless as he looked at the woman before him, who was so stubborn. "Xiaoxue, your brother's family shouldn't have gone that far in the first place. It was all for you."
"What do you mean 'for me'? They owe me everything! They married me off just to maintain their good reputation in front of others. How miserable was I back then? Shouldn't I hate them for that?"
"Guan Weiguang, I thought you were different. I didn't expect you to think of me like this!"
Chixuecha's eyes turned red as she bit her lip, looking at him with hurt and disbelief. Gradually, soft sobs escaped her lips as she turned away from him, bending down to cover her face with her hands.
As soon as Guan Weiguang finished speaking, he regretted it. He sighed and reached out to tug at the hem of her shirt softly. "Xiaoxue, that's not what I meant. You know I'm just worried about you. I'm afraid you'll get hurt again; it pains me to see you like this."
Chixuecha twisted her body to shake off his hand, muttering in dissatisfaction, "How can you claim to care about someone like this?"
Guan Weiguang hesitated for a moment but insisted on continuing. "Xiaoxue, please don't take it the wrong way. Your brother's family is struggling right now because of Team Leader Chi's favoritism towards you. If later on, you end up at odds with your brother, your situation will become difficult and your family's relationships will become awkward."
"Team Leader Chi is getting older; he can't stay in this position forever unless he gets a chance for promotion. Otherwise, he'll have to retire back home. Will you still be able to stay here then?"
Guan Weiguang raised his eyes to gauge Chixuecha's expression and pressed his lips together before continuing, "Lu Zheng is indeed outstanding, but he's already married with a wife and kids. You can see that his stance is firm; he won't divorce. If you keep causing trouble like this, we might not even be able to remain comrades anymore, and your brother’s relationship with him will also be affected."
Chixuecha's eyes were filled with tears; both her eyes and nose were red. She raised her fist and struck Guan Weiguang hard on the chest.
"You've considered everyone else—why can't you think about me? All I want is to marry someone I love and be with someone I like! What have I done wrong?"
Chixuecha angrily pointed towards the family quarters where Wen Qian, that old woman from the countryside lived—older than my mother! I'm younger and prettier than her; my figure is better too! What do I lack compared to her?
"She just had one child! I can have children too! Once I marry Lu Zheng, I can have three without any problem."
Lu Zheng must have been forced into being with her; I'm here to save him! He definitely has feelings for me too; it's just that he has to avoid suspicion because of his status.
Once he gets divorced, we'll be together. We've both been married and divorced; doesn't that make us a perfect match?
Chixue Cha spun around in place, occasionally pointing at Guan Weiguang and laughing wildly, her eyes sparkling with hope and anticipation.
Guan Weiguang watched her, a sense of helplessness settling deep in his heart. His fists clenched and relaxed at his sides.
He let out a bitter laugh, his face filled with a sense of defeat. His dim eyes looked at Chixue Cha. Lu Zheng was just that good—so good that you couldn't see the people around you.
Of course, he was good; among everyone, he was the best.
He saved me and has always been by my side, comforting and encouraging me. Otherwise, I would have been dead long ago.
Guan Weiguang frowned; these feelings didn't seem like something Lu Zheng could create!
Yet, he couldn't dismiss Chixue Cha's words.
A wave of doubt rose in his heart. Could it be that Lu Zheng acted one way in front of people and another behind their backs?
But Lu Zheng wasn't that kind of person. After all these years together, there was still some trust left.
Chixue Cha's sudden movement pulled Guan Weiguang back to reality. He looked at the two delicate arms on his own and felt ripples of emotion stirring within him.
Weiguang, please help me just this once. If you do, I will definitely thank you later. You wouldn't want to see me sad all alone, would you?
Her tone was sweet and pleading, her little eyes filled with desperation, her lips slightly pouted.
Guan Weiguang couldn't help but take a deep breath, closing his eyes. Rationality told him not to agree.
I’m begging you, just this once. If it doesn’t work out, I won’t ask again.
Seeing Guan Weiguang still silent, Chixue Cha couldn’t help but curse inwardly while maintaining her pitiful facade.
She gritted her teeth and spoke through clenched teeth: If it doesn’t work out, I’ll be with you—let’s give it a try.
Sure enough, Guan Weiguang's eyes brightened immediately; his thoughts stirred. Before he could delve deeper into contemplation, Chixue Cha interrupted him with her words.

Guan Weiguang pondered for a moment, looking at Chixue Cha’s delicate face before gritting his teeth and agreeing.

He hurriedly added: I promise I will treat you well.

Chixue leaped into his arms, wrapping her arms around his waist and nuzzling her head against him.
Guang felt the softness in his embrace, his face flushed with heat. His breath quickened, and he couldn't help but take a few deep breaths to calm himself. Eventually, he could no longer resist and wrapped his arms around her, a smile creeping onto his lips that he couldn't suppress.

At that moment, Lu Zheng was sitting in the camp, resting. He glanced at the several company commanders and deputy battalion leaders around him. After pondering for a moment, he gathered them all together and led them to a secluded spot.
He spoke seriously, "Those who are single and without partners must leave first!"
