Aunt Tian called out to everyone, "Look here! She admitted it herself! We didn't force her to say anything."
Guo Xiaojuan realized she had said something she shouldn't have and quickly tried to explain. "It wasn't me, it was an accident!" She pointed at Lu Chen. "He ran too fast and bumped into me; otherwise, I wouldn't have hit him."
Taking a few deep breaths to calm herself, Guo Xiaojuan regretted being too nervous earlier and falling into Aunt Tian's trap. She needed to stay composed; otherwise, she'd end up saying more than she intended. "It's because he ran so fast and nearly knocked me over that I got angry and pinched him a couple of times."
She looked at Wen Qian, her voice trembling slightly as she continued, "And you already slapped me twice earlier! I haven't even settled that score with you yet, so let's consider this matter closed."
As she scanned the crowd for an opportunity to slip away, someone behind her grabbed her arm. Slowly turning around, she found herself face-to-face with Wen Qian. Her pupils dilated in shock, and her legs felt weak, almost causing her to fall.
"W-What do you want?"
"It's not over yet. Where do you think you're going?"
"I already said we're done here; what are you doing?"
Wen Qian let out a cold laugh. "I never said we were done!"
With that, Wen Qian yanked Guo Xiaojuan back into the center of the crowd. At that moment, Lu Chen had calmed down. He stepped up beside Wen Qian, took a deep breath, and declared loudly, "I didn't bump into you; you leaned over and tripped me!"
"Do you have any proof? Without evidence, how can you accuse me?"
Guo Xiaojuan feigned confidence as she glared at Lu Chen, trying to intimidate him. Little did she know that he had seen far scarier expressions before; in his eyes, her current demeanor was almost amusing.
Lu Chen looked helplessly at Wen Qian while his small hand fidgeted in hers. He had no evidence? There was nothing he could do to prove his innocence!
Children couldn't hide their emotions well; Guo Xiaojuan immediately noticed Lu Chen's panic and couldn't help but let out a mocking laugh. "You’re just making things up because you have no proof! I'm going to report you for slandering me! And you, Wen Qian—if you dare hit me again, I'll make sure your whole family pays for it!"
Guo Xiaojuan touched her sore face; it felt swollen from the slaps she had received. When she was hit earlier, her face had gone numb, but now the pain surged back into her consciousness like a jolt to the brain.
"If you can't find any evidence against me, then you'll have to kneel and bow down! Maybe I'll let you off the hook."
Guo Xiaojuan had long been fed up with Wen Qian and just wanted to get away from this situation as quickly as possible.
At this moment, Guo Xiaojuan was in the advantageous position, and she had no reason to leave. In the end, she might even help her elder sister and brother-in-law take revenge, and perhaps even manage to pull Lu Zheng down from his position as captain.
Soon, her sister and brother-in-law would have to thank her; she was the benefactor of this family, and who would dare to drive her away? Her sister and brother-in-law could no longer treat her lightly; she no longer needed to tread carefully in this household.

The crowd parted to reveal Lu Zheng and a middle-aged man—her brother-in-law Chen Liang, along with Yang, whom she hadn't seen in a long time.
Wen Qian noticed a piercing gaze directed at her; when she turned to look, she realized it was Yang. Her pupils constricted slightly as a wave of heat washed over her.
Yang's hands involuntarily clenched into fists at his sides, his lips pressed tightly together. From the moment Wen Qian had confronted Guo Xiaojuan, he had already sent Lu Zheng to find the leaders.
No matter how this situation unfolded, it could not be resolved lightly. It was not just for herself but also for Xiao Chen's future.
The family compound was filled with people from all over the country—sisters-in-law and younger siblings of all ages. They had already formed various small groups, and regarding this sudden arrival of a woman from the countryside, some watched with amusement while others kept their distance.
There were inevitably those with ill intentions; she needed to seize this opportunity to show her strength. This way, both she and Xiao Chen would have an easier time in the future, and Xiao Chen would feel more at ease here.
The middle-aged man looked displeased as he stared at Guo Xiaojuan. "Who do you plan on taking away?"
He stepped into the crowd, and Lu Chen immediately rushed over like a little whirlwind, hugging the man's leg and starting to cry. "Uncle!"
The little one called out "Uncle" repeatedly, softening the man's heart. The child showed his arm to the man, who immediately took a look but frowned deeply.
"It hurts!" Lu Chen exclaimed.
The man gently patted Lu Chen's head in comfort.
As Lu Chen glanced at Yang, he hurried over and threw himself into Yang's arms, his small body trembling as he cried out, "Uncle Yang! Let Uncle take a look!"
Yang's gaze darkened as he examined Lu Chen's arm; his expression toward Guo Xiaojuan was anything but friendly.
Guo Xiaojuan panicked when she heard the voice of the man. She had only mentioned calling the leader in passing; she never truly intended to bring him here! What was she supposed to do now?
She glanced at her brother-in-law standing nearby and shot a look at Chen Liang, whose expression had already darkened. He cursed inwardly, feeling incredibly unlucky. With so many people here, how was he supposed to handle this situation? Especially since he hadn’t anticipated that Wei would actually come over!
Chen Liang silently berated Guo Xiaojuan, that foolish girl, for always getting him into trouble! Tian Lu Zheng had originally come to find the team leader but ran into Wei along with Yang and Chen Liang on the way. It was perfect timing; he directly informed Wei of the situation, and Wei brought everyone over.
Yang had also played a role in this. Upon hearing that Lu Chen was being bullied, he had said a few words that compelled Chen Liang, who initially planned to leave, to join them instead.
"Who are you trying to take in?"
Guo Xiaojuan listened to the man's voice, her eyes flashing with panic as she tightly clenched her palms to calm herself down. "I—I just want them to apologize to me; they were the ones who slandered me first."
Wei had already heard Lu Zheng recount the entire incident on the way over and had a general understanding of what had happened. Now, hearing Guo Xiaojuan repeat it, he noticed discrepancies between their accounts. There was no consensus on whom they should believe.
Wei trusted Lu Zheng; he didn’t think his soldier would lie, especially someone like Lu Zheng. However, without evidence, it was impossible to draw a conclusion.
Just as silence fell over the group, a childish voice broke through.
"We saw everything! Can I be a witness?"
Everyone turned to look at the little girl who had spoken from outside the crowd. Several other children stood beside her.
