Hu Yitian realized he was inside a burlap sack, with small beams of light casting grid-like patterns as they filtered in. The stifling air within the sack made him feel faint again. He had always been the one to put others in sacks; he never imagined that one day he would find himself in one. Instinctively, he moved his wrists, but being tied up, he had no chance of escaping.
"Familiar scene, isn't it?"
"Heh, the same old place, but it's not that person anymore."
Although Jiao An didn't use her previous seductive tone, Hu Yitian immediately recognized her from the last line she spoke—he still had a vivid impression of Jiao An.
The sound of a door opening came from ahead, and as footsteps approached, a wave of feminine fragrance hit him.
A hand grabbed the sack, nearly pulling Hu Yitian's hair out. He gasped and focused his eyes: "Qiao Yi-Yi!"
Jiao An stood before him with her hands on her hips, coldly huffing, "Call me Sister Jiao An."
"Qiao girl, you... look so good in military uniform." Hu Yitian recalled how he had held Jiao An's soft and slender waist last night, and that wild impulse surged again as he smirked.
Seeing what this scoundrel was thinking, Jiao An stepped forward and slapped Hu Yitian across his stubbled face.
Knowing he was caught and that the situation was hopeless, Hu Yitian only became bolder. He seemed to enjoy Jiao An's slap, leering at the hills rising beneath her military collar and deliberately inhaling sharply: "Your hand smells so good... too bad you didn't touch higher."
Jiao An grimaced in disgust; she felt that her earlier slap had made her feel unclean and cursed, "Crazy!"
Outside, An Xiaotian asked Qin Weishan, "Has Sister Jiao An slapped you?"
"..."
Seeing no response, An Xiaotian turned to look at Qin Weishan—his face was now ashen. He must have seen this person revealing his lecherous nature towards Jiao An; if it weren't for General Jiang Yan recording behind the camera, he probably would have rushed in like last time.
"No," Qin Weishan replied curtly.
Jiao An didn't want to delay any longer. She stepped on Hu Yitian's foot and glared at him, "The main base of the Viper organization is in the forest north of City A, right?"
Hu Yitian threw his head back and laughed, "Hahaha! I won't admit it. What can you do to me? Aren't you all so powerful? You have nine hundred sixty square kilometers of territory; take your time searching."
Jiao An was furious and pressed her entire weight down on Hu Yitian's foot. If it weren't for General Jiang recording—an operation required by superiors—she really wanted to kick him and the chair over right now, then slap Hu Yitian a hundred times or even a thousand.
But this guy was still so excited after being hit, even using vulgar phrases to tease her. During her service in the Armed Police, Jiao An had participated in various operations and had encountered many bad guys; she had seen too many men who were after her body. However, this was the first time she encountered someone who seemed to enjoy being beaten by a woman.
"Thanks to the country's major cleanup, we Vipers had no choice but to infiltrate the forest. We originally just wanted to survive quietly and provide a safety net for fugitives. But who would have thought we found a fertile ground for growth, and even got your Dr. Liang on board! That old man really thinks highly of us. Every so-called advanced weapon you have—what manufacturing plan doesn't have his signature? He created your weapons and surely knows their weaknesses. All those so-called high-tech weapons will just become useless scrap metal with him around!"
The more Hu Yitian spoke, the prouder he became, continuing to stare at Jiao An's chest as he said, "Do as you please; Sister Jiao An executing me would be best. Anyway, I'm never going to tell you anything. You think you can take us all down in one go? Dream on!"
"Even a bastard is more pleasing to the eye than this scumbag! I'm going to twist his head off today!" Qin Weishan cursed as he rushed to the door. Just as he raised his fist, An Xiaotian stopped him: "Your shoulder is burned by a laser bullet; the wound is deep. It won't be good if you exert too much force."
However, An Xiaotian didn't intend to pull Qin Weishan back; instead, he carefully controlled him and walked up to Hu Yitian, taking out a bottle of mineral water.
"Sister Jiao An, just casually take off a badge for me," An Xiaotian said, opening his palm and extending it towards Jiao An's chest.
Jiao An shot him a particularly annoyed glance but still casually took off an honor badge and handed it to him. An Xiaotian pressed out the needle and glanced at Hu Yitian.
"What's wrong? Are you going to poke me with a needle?" Hu Yitian said disdainfully, glancing sideways at An Xiaotian.
"I'm a kind-hearted person and can't stand the sight of blood. So, I don't need you to bleed a single drop, but you will confess within seven hours," An Xiaotian replied.
With that, An Xiaotian used a needle to puncture a hole in the bottle, then found a thick rope and tied it to the lamp on the wall. He positioned the hole in the bottle cap directly above Hu Yitian's forehead and suspended it. The water droplets were perfectly aimed to fall onto Hu Yitian's forehead. "Lift his head up and hold it steady," An Xiaotian instructed. Qin Weishan eagerly reached out, grabbing Hu Yitian's chin and pulling it upward, while Jiao An twisted a burlap sack into a rope and secured it around Hu Yitian's chin, fastening it to the wall.
Once everything was set up, An Xiaotian took one last glance at Hu Yitian before the three of them left him alone in the room.
At first, Hu Yitian felt as if the water droplets were lulling him into a trance, so he comfortably closed his eyes and fell asleep.
The droplets continued to fall one by one onto his forehead.
The interrogation room was completely sealed off, and Hu Yitian had no idea how long he had been asleep. However, he felt it was no different from dozing off in a chair in a room.
Gradually waking up, he was suddenly startled by an odd cold sensation on his forehead. His eyes crossed as he stared at the droplet that seemed poised to fall.
"Plop!"
In the silent interrogation room, the sound of the droplet hitting his forehead echoed in Hu Yitian's ears like a gunshot.
Hu Yitian realized that his forehead had developed a hollow feeling, as if the next droplet could pierce through his skull. Moreover, his gaze felt somewhat dazed—his eyes were closed, but after just a few hours of sleep, his brain had been jolted awake by the water droplets and continued to be stimulated until now. Hu Yitian inexplicably felt a sharp headache.
The various physical sensations made Hu Yitian's unease grow exponentially.
"Fake, fake!" Hu Yitian suddenly realized that something was off. The water outlet before him increasingly resembled a grotesque face, droplets continuously splashing onto his own.
With this thought, Hu Yitian jolted awake.
The fear that surged from within made him feel as if he were hallucinating: the water droplets hung above him like swords. With a "plop," he shut his eyes tightly, convinced he was dead, yet he was still alive. Another droplet was about to fall, like a knife; with another "plop," Hu Yitian twitched all over but remained unharmed. Then, a droplet, sharp as a needle, came hurtling down towards his face...
At exactly seven in the morning, the door to the Reaction Group room swung open. Qin Weishan strolled in while stretching lazily, squinting around the room in surprise to find An Xiaotian and Jiao An already present. He even suspected that the two had not slept all night. In reality, they had slept, but only for a short time. An Xiaotian had arrived at the monitoring center at three in the morning to observe Hu Yitian's condition, clutching instant noodles bought from the 24-hour vending machine while keeping an eye on the increasingly deranged Hu Yitian. Shortly after, at five o'clock, Jiao An joined him, and together they watched as Hu Yitian began to convulse indoors. When she first entered, she sat on an office chair with her legs propped up on the control panel, sharing steaming tomato-flavored noodles with An Xiaotian while watching Hu Yitian's spasms on the screen as if it were a movie.
"So how is he doing now?" Qin Weishan asked.
"I can only say that this torture invented by King Zhou is truly something else," Jiao An replied, straightening up with her hands on her hips. "This method is a nightmare for those without any willpower. Typically, the water torture takes twenty hours to take effect; this Hu Yitian... ha, he barely lasted eleven hours—he couldn't hold out for half a day."
Hu Yitian writhed madly in his chair, wailing like a banshee and teetering on the brink of mental collapse. If they didn't intervene soon, he would be scared to death. An Xiaotian and the others rushed downstairs, deliberately avoiding the frenzied Hu Yitian as they pulled down a water bottle.
"Don't kill me! Don't kill me!" Hu Yitian screamed wildly. An Xiaotian immediately asked, "Where is Viper Base?"
"In the northern forest of City A... there are... two large stone walls standing on either side... ah!" Hu Yitian could no longer gather his senses; with a final scream, he fainted completely.
Jiao An quickly stepped forward to check his pulse and confirmed that he was still alive. She turned back with a smile and gave both of them a thumbs-up.
In the command center of the Reaction Group studio, members gathered around the main computer after receiving the intel. They watched as elite operatives from Three Military Technologies worked together to control the main computer, hoping to locate the area with two massive stone walls through satellite reconnaissance.
"He said it was in the center position..." An Xiaotian pointed to the location, but just as the system was about to lock on, a long string of green code appeared on the screen. After struggling for a while, it completely went black.
"What’s going on?" Everyone was puzzled, hoping that the three controlling the joysticks could restore it quickly. The three of them anxiously tried every solution they had ever learned, but the large screen remained dark and showed no signs of improvement. Out of options, they randomly jerked the view around, and surprisingly, this crude method actually restored the display!
Dr. Chen was the first to react: "It's an anti-surveillance jamming device, no doubt about it. This nest-like generator can create a jamming field in the air, disrupting satellite observations when they try to connect here."
"What do we do now?" Everyone turned their gaze toward him.
"With this device's frequency band, it can only interfere with satellites, but normal aerial photography is completely unaffected. If someone can pilot a hovercraft over there, we should be able to observe them."
"The hovercraft flying at low altitude is too easy to detect," Jiao An voiced his concerns.
"Let me go."
After a moment of contemplation, An Xiaotian stepped forward: "I can pilot the Fierce Eagle Armor for aerial photography and transmit the terrain analysis back. My armor makes almost no noise when flying at low speed, so it’s hard to detect."
"The Fierce Eagle Armor?!"
In the crowd, Captain Gao was the first to exclaim in shock, and everyone looked at An Xiaotian with astonished expressions—no wonder Instructor Zhang Sheng had recommended an unknown soldier to lead this joint operation; he was actually General Wang's second-generation heir.
An Xiaotian's gaze was resolute as he avoided looking at anyone else and walked straight toward General Jiang. In a tone reminiscent of an oath, he stated, "I, An Xiaotian, have both the ability and responsibility to complete this mission. Jiao An and Qin Weishan need time to recover; having more people would only increase danger. I promise this task will be completed successfully."
In that moment, he seemed to see a smile on General Jiang's face similar to the one General Wang had when he watched him step out of the Fierce Eagle Armor: "Go ahead, kid. We’ll be waiting for your good news."
At 5 PM, above the northern forest of City A, at an altitude of 8,082 meters.
"The sunset in June is beautiful, An Xiaotian!" the captain shouted to Xiaotian.
"Yeah!" An Xiaotian replied loudly. The roar of the transport plane was too loud; An Xiaotian was too lazy to speak, and even shouting might not be heard.
"We're over Forest Center! You can jump now! Good luck!" the captain yelled.
The rear door of the cabin opened, and a gust of strong wind rushed into the aircraft. An Xiaotian steadied himself and leaped out, simultaneously pressing the energy core on his chest. The Fierce Eagle Armor followed closely behind him as he jumped from the transport plane.
An Xiaotian fell rapidly, clouds swirling past him as the wind howled by his ears. Breaking through layer upon layer of clouds, he could see he was about to reach the forest. A chilling sensation spread from his back as the Fierce Eagle Armor successfully caught him, merging into one as it unfolded its mechanical wings and soared upward in an arc. Later, according to An Xiaotian's own account, he realized he was less than seven hundred meters above the forest when he jumped without wearing armor, a decision that left him feeling quite terrified.
"This kid is reckless!" Although An Xiaotian succeeded, Qin Weishan still cursed under his breath.
Upon reaching the airspace above Forest Center, the Fierce Eagle quickly spotted two large stone walls. He activated his eagle eye to zoom in and saw a massive square entrance between the two walls, with a hovercraft hovering above it, preparing to descend.
"This should be where the aircraft enters," An Xiaotian communicated to everyone through his communicator.
"I'll check for a land entrance," he said as he flew to the left for a while and spotted a vehicle parked below. Upon closer inspection, he noticed a closed iron gate on the ridge beside it, marked with the emblem of the Viper Organization. Two thugs were guarding it, and one of them was actually talking to someone with a pair of horns on his head.
"This is it," An Xiaotian frowned. He wanted to get closer to see what it was, and the command center immediately marked this location for terrain analysis.
Just then, the horned man on the ground looked up at the sky and locked eyes with An Xiaotian. He had no idea what that thing was, but An Xiaotian could see clearly; the man's gaze sent a strong sense of intimidation coursing through him.
"I seem to have been discovered!"
An Xiaotian turned and began flying towards the city. As he passed through the square entrance, he saw the Hovercraft seemingly receiving some command, immediately taking off and heading in his direction.
"No way!" An Xiaotian shouted, causing those in the command room to become tense again. If he were shot down, the losses would be unimaginable.
The Hovercraft quickly approached behind Fierce Eagle, with two launchers extending from its wings. Fierce Eagle turned around and immediately shouldered the Fire God Machine Gun. The launchers activated, and dozens of missiles flew towards Fierce Eagle. Fierce Eagle was not to be outdone; the Fire God Machine Gun rapidly adjusted its aim and began firing furiously under Fierce Eagle's lock-on, with missiles exploding in front of it, releasing blue flames.
Fierce Eagle was startled, but there was no time to think. It continued flying forward, but the Hovercraft had no intention of letting it go and fired a heat-seeking missile at Fierce Eagle.
The missile quickly closed in on Fierce Eagle. Suddenly, Fierce Eagle executed a ninety-degree climb, tracing a beautiful arc in the sky while carrying the missile behind it, arriving behind the Hovercraft.
"Channel all the energy from the laser weapon into the Thruster!" Fierce Eagle shouted.
In an instant, Fierce Eagle surged towards the underside of the Hovercraft at double its original speed. With a quick upward motion, it managed to glide past one side of the Hovercraft. The missile could only follow suit but could not perform any advanced maneuvers against the Hovercraft's body. With a loud explosion, a hole was blown into the underside of the Hovercraft, causing it to plummet.
"Destroy me? Maybe in my next life," Fierce Eagle said as it watched the Hovercraft crash to the ground and explode before turning away gracefully.
"That was so cool!" Those watching from inside the Fierce Eagle Armor cheered and celebrated in the command room, hugging and high-fiving each other.
Qin Weishan exchanged glances with someone and smiled, but gradually sighed as he said, "General, did you see that..."
