After finishing the meal, Liu Xifang was perceptive enough to take his leave. To be honest, being around Jiang Chen made him feel quite pressured.
“Pingping, let’s go,” Liu Xifang urged softly as he noticed his daughter hesitating and seemingly reluctant to leave.
Liu Pingping ignored her father and instead looked at Jiang Chen. “Mr. Jiang, can I stay by your side?” she mustered the courage to ask.
“I don’t need anyone around me right now,” Jiang Chen replied.
“I can be your housekeeper, and my cooking skills are better than your current housekeeper’s,” Liu Pingping asserted.
Upon hearing Liu Pingping's words, Lin Yin, who was tidying up the dining table nearby, suddenly grew serious. Someone was trying to take her job. Although she wasn’t a professional housekeeper, she didn’t want such a beautiful woman staying in the villa. Ye Ming was a disciple, which was fine, but Liu Pingping wasn’t one; Lin Yin could see through her intentions and clearly didn’t want this to happen.
“What do you mean? Are you saying my cooking isn’t good?” Lin Yin said with dissatisfaction.
“You must be a novice; honestly, the dishes you make are just average. I think Mr. Jiang deserves better food. Cooking is my favorite thing to do, so my skills are better than yours,” Liu Pingping replied earnestly.
She wanted to stay by Jiang Chen’s side; if she left tonight, who knew when she would see him again? So she decided to go all out.
Of course, Liu Pingping didn’t want to become Jiang Chen’s disciple; if she did that, how could she continue to like him? After thinking it over, she concluded that being Jiang Chen’s housekeeper was the better option. She was confident that she was no worse than Lin Yin; in terms of cooking skills, Lin Yin was far behind her.
“Why don’t we have a competition?” Lin Yin suggested, somewhat exasperated.
“Let’s compete then; I’m not afraid of you,” Liu Pingping replied.
The two women were suddenly at each other’s throats.
Jiang Chen hadn’t expected this scene. He understood Liu Pingping's intentions—she wanted to be his girlfriend—and it seemed that desire was quite strong.
“Miss Liu, your cooking may be better than Lin Yin’s, but I don’t need another housekeeper right now; one is enough for me, especially since I don’t spend much time here throughout the year. Moreover, Lin Yin has been with me for a long time and has done nothing wrong; I won’t replace her,” Jiang Chen stated firmly.
Upon hearing his words, Lin Yin couldn’t help but breathe a sigh of relief and shot a smug glance at Liu Pingping, her expression challenging.
“Since the young master has said so, Miss Liu, please leave,” Lin Yin said coldly to Liu Pingping. After all, Liu Pingping was eyeing her position as a potential girlfriend and was seen as a rival.
Liu Pingping felt unwilling to give up and looked at Jiang Chen pleadingly. “Mr. Jiang, please consider me; I hope to stay by your side.”
“Pingping, stop bothering Mr. Jiang,” Liu Xifang said helplessly yet sympathetically as he watched his daughter act out of character. He knew well what was on her mind but felt that someone like Mr. Jiang was beyond his daughter’s reach.
“Miss Liu, I’ve already said that I’m hardly here; it wouldn’t make sense for you to stay,” Jiang Chen reiterated.
Jiang Chen had said enough, and Liu Pingping, despite her reluctance, had no choice but to leave.
It seemed that making Jiang Chen interested in her was an impossible task. A sense of sorrow filled Liu Pingping's heart as she departed in solitude.
“Pingping, stop thinking about Mr. Jiang. We are not on the same level as him. In the future, Dad will find you a suitable husband,” Liu Xifang said as he drove away from Hua Guang Mountain Villa, speaking to his daughter while keeping his eyes on the road.
