Seeing Jiang Chen melt his hundred Flying Copper Armored Corpses into Copper Water, Li Hai Feng's heart bled. This was the culmination of his life's work, now reduced to nothing, as if someone had taken a knife and brutally sliced through his heart. The pain was suffocating, yet he felt utterly powerless.
The Copper Water swirled and bubbled within the ice cauldron, but strangely, there were no signs of melting from the cauldron itself. Jiang Chen had infused a layer of Cold Ice Aura into the surface of the ice cauldron, which was sufficient to withstand Jiang Chen's Spirit Fire, thus preventing the Copper Water from dissolving it.
The Blood Corpse looked at Jiang Chen, its grotesque face not showing anger but rather filled with fear. What was Jiang Chen planning to do to it? The Blood Corpse roared restlessly, filled with trepidation.
"Stop screaming; I'm just making you a little more beautiful," Jiang Chen said.
His words only made the Blood Corpse more anxious as it violently crashed against the talisman, trying to escape. Jiang Chen ceased his chatter and began to act, manipulating the Copper Water to envelop the Blood Corpse. The protective corpse energy emitted black smoke under the assault of the Copper Water, quickly proving unable to withstand it. The Copper Water seeped into the Blood Corpse's seven orifices like maggots burrowing into flesh, causing black smoke, green smoke, and white smoke to intertwine and billow from its body.
Jiang Chen used Spiritual Energy to inscribe runes onto the Blood Corpse. It howled in agony as he summoned the Yin Spirit energy from Niu Tou Mountain and poured it into the ice cauldron, refining it with Spirit Fire. Jiang Chen treated this Blood Corpse as a spiritual artifact for crafting.
The Copper Water was refined into pure copper that coated the Blood Corpse, transforming its appearance into that of a copper figure, no longer hideous.
After a quarter of an hour, everything came to an end; the Blood Corpse stood motionless within the ice cauldron, quiet and still. With a wave of his hand, Jiang Chen melted the cauldron and seized the Blood Corpse, flying back to shore.
As the ice melted away, Mine Pit Lake returned to its original state as if nothing had ever happened. But had nothing really happened?
Li Hai Feng sat on the ground like a puddle of mud, his face ashen as he looked at Jiang Chen, who was also gazing back at him.
"From now on, stop refining corpses and return to your clan to live properly. If I hear any more news about your Corpse Refining Clan refining corpses, your clan will truly cease to exist," Jiang Chen said calmly.
"You... you won't kill me?" Li Hai Feng's eyes lit up upon hearing Jiang Chen's words. He had thought he was doomed today; after all, he had been utterly defeated. Given Jiang Chen's temperament, he believed there was no way he would be spared.
However, he did not expect Jiang Chen to actually let him go. This sparked a glimmer of hope for survival in Li Hai Feng. Compared to his life, everything else seemed insignificant.
"Your life is worthless to me; killing or sparing you makes no difference. Just take care of yourself from now on," Jiang Chen tossed out this parting remark before turning to leave.
Jiang Chen was in a good mood today; although this wasn't The Body of the General, the Blood Corpse did not disappoint him either. Most importantly, he had obtained The Heaven-Cleaving Axe. With two of the Seven Divine Artifacts already found, Jiang Chen felt quite pleased and had no desire to kill Li Hai Feng.
He took the Blood Corpse and boarded a carriage with Liu Xifang and others as they departed.
Li Hai Feng watched Jiang Chen leave, letting out a deep sigh.
"Forget it, forget it!" Li Hai Feng shook his head, feeling a sudden loss of spirit. He appeared much older in that moment; the blow he received today was too great. It could be said that his ambition to become the Supreme of Hua Xia Martial Arts had been completely shattered.
