The Blood Corpse let out a sharp, piercing roar before swinging its axe down with tremendous force. The blood on the axe transformed into a crimson mist, erupting forth and forming a massive, blood-red silhouette of the axe in the air, reminiscent of the Xingtian Giant Axe. Its overwhelming might could cleave rivers and split mountains.
As the shadow of the giant axe descended, it had not yet reached the surface of Mine Pit Lake, but the lake was already divided in two by the oppressive force of the axe, as if an invisible power had sliced through the water, creating a chasm. Jiang Chen stood within this chasm, and strangely enough, beneath his feet was a column of water. He stood atop this water column, gazing at the looming silhouette of the giant axe in the sky.
"Die, kid!" Li Hai Feng cackled maniacally.
At that moment, Liu Xifang, Liu Pingping, and Yang Er stood at the edge of Mine Pit Lake. Seeing this scene made their hearts race to their throats; such a sight could only be witnessed in movies. However, they had no time for shock—only deep concern remained.
"Mr. Jiang, please be okay!" Liu Xifang murmured to herself, praying for Jiang Chen.
With a thunderous crash, the giant axe fell. The lake's surface seemed as if a giant had stomped down upon it, sending waves crashing high into the air. The immense surge knocked Liu Xifang and the others to the ground.
In the cold weather, they were drenched by the water and shivered uncontrollably. Yet at that moment, they forgot about the cold and scrambled to their feet to check on Jiang Chen. If Jiang Chen were dead, they would have no hope left.
In Mine Pit Lake, half of the water had been displaced by Blood Corpse's strike, and Jiang Chen was no longer in his original position.
"Haha, kid, you must finally be dead!" Li Hai Feng laughed maniacally when he saw no trace of Jiang Chen.
Even Blood Corpse's grotesque face relaxed slightly. Its previous strike had consumed most of its Blood Qi; if it were to expend energy again, it would likely fall into a deep slumber. It thought Jiang Chen must be nothing but bones by now.
However, Blood Corpse suddenly sensed something was off. It was highly sensitive and looked up at the sky. Amidst the foggy atmosphere above, there appeared to be a shadowy figure.
Seeing Blood Corpse look up, Li Hai Feng and Liu Xifang also raised their heads to gaze at the sky.
Above them in the misty air stood Jiang Chen on his Sky Sword, calm and composed as he exuded an air of leisure akin to that of an immortal swordsman.
"It’s Mr. Jiang!" Liu Pingping exclaimed with joy, her eyes sparkling with excitement.
Yang Er stared at Jiang Chen hovering above them; for a moment she felt as if she were dreaming. Today’s events had completely shattered her worldview. Since meeting Jiang Chen today, he had continuously astonished her.
At this moment, standing atop his celestial sword and looking down upon all beings with an otherworldly demeanor made Jiang Chen appear divine. Yang Er's mouth fell slightly open in shock; she was so overwhelmed that she could hardly distinguish between reality and illusion.
"What other powers do you possess?" Jiang Chen asked Blood Corpse calmly.
Enveloped in corpse energy and staring at Jiang Chen filled with dread and despair at his overwhelming strength, Blood Corpse felt hopeless.
"Since you have no more tricks up your sleeve, it's my turn now," Jiang Chen said with a slight smirk on his lips.
He extended his right hand with his palm facing downwards. A radiant light blossomed from his palm before he raised it again. As he did so, water from Mine Pit Lake began to churn violently, columns of water shooting skyward like geysers.
The water columns varied in height.
"Freeze!"
With a light shout, Jiang Chen unleashed a beam of icy light from his hand, which plunged into the water column, instantly freezing it solid.
