Nars felt completely paralyzed, unable to move his body at all. He could only watch as the axe descended, feeling like a condemned prisoner awaiting execution.
“Buzz!”
Driven by instinct, Nars raised his arm to shield his head, but it was clearly futile. Strangely, it seemed as though Ban Sa's battle axe was genuinely under his control, showing no signs of descending further. Nars could feel a throbbing pain in his head, and when he looked up, he saw an invisible Force Field beneath the axe blade, distorting like flames flickering above a fire—Liu Xuan was using Telekinesis to hold back the descending axe!
“Didn’t I tell you not to get involved? This is my fight with Ban Sa!”
“If it weren’t for me, you’d be dead by now! Besides, we share this body; I don’t want to die either… Think of a way to break free! My Telekinesis can’t hold much longer! Ughhh—”
Liu Xuan shouted desperately in Nars's mind. His Telekinesis had reached its limit, barely countering the force of Ban Sa's axe pressing down. If he let up for even a moment, Ban Sa’s Tear Star axe would fall and split Blue Face Hero in two!
“Liu Xuan, release your Telekinesis,” Nars urged.
“Release? The axe is right above us! Are you telling me to let go?”
“Trust me!”
The initial numbness had faded, and Blue Face Hero regained his fighting spirit. Godslayer Bansa hadn’t noticed this change. He pressed down on the back of the axe with all his might, trying to break through Liu Xuan’s Telekinesis. The blade was getting closer and closer to Blue Face Hero’s body, and as he envisioned the imminent decapitation of Nars, a cruel smile spread across his face.
Only five centimeters left! If Telekinesis faltered even slightly, the axe would fall! Just then, Nars commanded Liu Xuan to cancel Telekinesis!
“Liu Xuan, let go!”
The moment Telekinesis was canceled, the shield immediately expanded, rising just in time to meet the descending Tear Star axe! Godslayer’s Tear Star struck down upon the shield. Although Blue Face Hero’s Particle Shield was easily cleaved open with a gash, it did not penetrate through entirely. Nars and Liu Xuan felt a sudden force that drove the Particle Shield into the ground at a forty-five-degree angle!
This entire sequence of actions happened at an almost imperceptible speed—this was Nars's limit reaction speed combined with the extreme responsiveness of the Third-Order Space-Time Equipment Library. Even Ban Sa, as the attacker, was taken aback by what had just transpired.
What Godslayer didn’t expect was yet to come.
“Nars, kinetic energy conversion complete!”
“Release!”
All the kinetic energy from the descending axe was absorbed by the Particle Shield. A powerful surge of energy erupted from the shield, successfully pushing Godslayer back!
The Particle Shield from the Third-Order Space-Time Equipment Library possessed autonomous counterattack capabilities similar to Divine Fist’s rocket-cannon dual thrust mechanism. It could convert absorbed kinetic energy into its own attack mode, allowing its user to adopt a defensive stance while preparing for an offensive counter. Moreover, Nars had infused materials like damping gel into the shield’s composition because he knew beforehand that relying solely on the Particle Shield wouldn’t withstand Ban Sa’s axe; it would inevitably be cleaved open. However, incorporating gel-like materials could help cushion its downward strike—a clever strategy.
And indeed, Nars's concept proved highly successful in practice.
“It can’t possibly be stopped.” Godslayer was genuinely surprised; he hadn’t anticipated that Blue Face Hero’s shield could absorb kinetic energy or that his own axe wouldn’t fully cleave through it. Using the grip of Tear Star, he quickly stabilized his center of gravity and pondered as he looked at Blue Face Hero holding up the Particle Shield—wasn’t this precisely when Spell Arts could shine?
To block his own axe effectively, Blue Face Hero had no choice but to create distance.
“Liu Xuan, how is the charging on Tianchuang Gloves coming along?”
"Ninety-nine percent... it's full!"
At the same time, Godslayer began to condense the energy generated by the Space Spell Arts on the blade of the Tear Star battle axe. The orb of light on the axe grew larger and larger, transforming the Tear Star into something resembling a staff. "Nars, haven't you always wanted revenge?" Godslayer pointed the blade of the Tear Star at the Blue Face Hero. "Isn't now the perfect time?"
This would be the final duel between Nars and Ban Sa. Although they were opponents, both had unconsciously chosen to engage in a final showdown—an energy clash.
"Come on!" Nars let out an unprecedented roar, his Tianchuang Gloves shining like brilliant stars. A sound reminiscent of a phoenix's cry erupted as waves of energy surged forth from the Tianchuang Gloves, accompanied by a blue glow. Cosmic Energy exploded forth, rushing toward Godslayer like searing flames from a flamethrower!
In response, Godslayer raised the Tear Star battle axe, unleashing a pale green wave that collided directly with the energy wave released by Nars. The moment they clashed, a dazzling white light erupted between them, and shockwaves rhythmically released into the air. As Nars's Cosmic Energy intensified, Godslayer's energy waves began to retreat!
"Hmph."
However, Godslayer Bansa seemed indifferent to the outcome, wearing an expression as if everything was unrelated to him, as if he were merely playing with a child. In contrast, Nars gritted his teeth, his features almost contorted in frustration.
"Nars, I will make you understand in your final moments why I have been able to wage war across the universe for so long."
Meanwhile, the explosive sound generated by the clash between Blue Face Hero and Godslayer jolted Fierce Eagle awake, as if he had just emerged from a dream that spanned lifetimes. As he regained consciousness, an infinite world unfolded before his eyes, everything stacked before him like a game of Tetris. An Xiaotian realized he had just fainted but felt his heavy head urging him to sleep again.
"Sir, please don't move. The antidote was just injected into your body; it has only just begun to take effect," Xiao Ling reminded him from within his armor.
An Xiaotian wanted to ask Xiao Ling countless questions, but the blood plasma in his mouth rendered him speechless. He unlocked his head armor, and a rush of fresh air flooded into his nostrils. The clash between the two ahead created a massive wind field around them, howling like a northern gale amidst pouring rain. Raindrops fell sporadically onto his head until suddenly, An Xiaotian coughed violently, blood plasma mixed with rainwater cascading down onto the wet pavement.
That cough nearly cost An Xiaotian his life; he felt weak all over and collapsed back onto the ground. Xiao Ling's voice echoed in his ears: "Please don't move, sir. I've detected that your blood flow is still slowing down. I need to prepare a second dose of antidote for you. You've been poisoned by an unknown toxin that is coagulating your blood; I'm doing everything I can to save your life—please cooperate..."
"No! Xiao Ling, I must stand up! Liu Xuan... he's still... fighting... he can't die..."
"Xiaotian..."
An Xiaotian felt an overwhelming chill; even through his armor, his head lay in a puddle as raindrops pelted his face.
"Xiaotian?"
In a daze, he felt himself slipping into unconsciousness again. But how could he perceive unconsciousness? It was as if he stood somewhere watching a figure approach him.
"Honey!"
An Xiaotian realized he might have fallen into an illusion, but those calls stirred an inexplicable lethargy within him; he resisted waking up because he heard Yang Meng's voice.
Thus everything unraveled under his indulgence; the rain faded away, and he could no longer feel raindrops on his neck or head. Before him was only a sunset and a figure approaching him—the sun was about to set behind mountains and seas while Yang Meng's silhouette grew clearer. She appeared bathed in sunlight as if she were made of pure radiance. She extended her hand toward An Xiaotian, revealing her delicate white wrist: "Why did you come so early? I've missed you so much!"
"Mengmeng!" An Xiaotian sprang up and grasped her hand as if she would vanish with even a moment's hesitation. A rush of grievance and heartache surged in his throat as he whimpered, "Don't go, Mengmeng! Don't leave me; I can't lose you..."
"I'm not going anywhere; I won't leave," Yang Meng smiled at him as light illuminated An Xiaotian's tear-streaked face. "Why do you still cry like a child? Haha... I'm doing well in the Divine Realm; you just came too early. I have to work hard there to earn enough rewards for my little house—a house where I can welcome my loved ones who come to the Divine Realm after passing away. You came too early; I haven't earned enough space for our home yet..."
An Xiaotian tightly embraced the radiant Yang Meng, sobbing violently as he inhaled her scent. Yang Meng was real, not fading away with his embrace, yet she continued to smile, allowing An Xiaotian to weep uncontrollably in her arms.
“I won’t leave anymore, I… I’ll never leave again…” An Xiaotian's words fell apart, “I hurt you, it was me who hurt you… Don’t leave either. Let’s live here forever, okay? I beg you…”
“I won’t leave, I won’t,” Yang Meng gently comforted him, “It’s just that you don’t belong here yet.”
“Why? When will I belong here?”
Yang Meng took An Xiaotian’s hand and led him toward the distant sun. With each step they took, everything began to materialize again. Ahead of them lay a beach, the sun so immense it seemed to be planted on the horizon, standing tall and unyielding. Yang Meng sat him down, and like a child, he nestled into her embrace. Yang Meng chuckled softly, gently patting An Xiaotian’s shoulder as if soothing her own child to sleep.
But gradually, An Xiaotian felt raindrops on his face. He thought he had awakened from a dream; however, when he opened his eyes, he saw Yang Meng crying—smiling yet crying. Her tears fell incessantly like raindrops, plopping down one after another.
“Why are you crying?”
“Darling, you came too early… I haven’t saved up enough to build a big enough little house yet. Why don’t you go back for now? You still don’t belong here…”
“I belong here! Wherever you are is where I belong, truly…”
“No.” Yang Meng surprisingly replied with determination, lowering her head to gently meet An Xiaotian's tear-streaked eyes. “I have only you, but I have never been your everything.”
