As Song Feiwan recalled the hesitant words of Steward Sun and the awkward expressions of the Zhuo brothers, a suspicion formed in her heart.
Could it be that Sang Zhen intended to become a concubine for Xiao Yu? What was Xiao Yu thinking? Did he come here just to inform her?
A heaviness settled in Song Feiwan's heart as she glanced at Xiao Yu, her gaze turning cold. The man gazed back at her with eyes as dark as the sea.
She responded to Sang Zhen, "I can understand your feelings. However, regardless of what you say, matters within the residence are still decided by His Highness. If he agrees to keep you here, I naturally have no objections."
Sang Zhen looked pitifully at Xiao Yu before turning back to Song Feiwan. "According to the rules of Da Zhou, your consent is also required."
Feeling displeased, Song Feiwan's tone turned icy. "I have said that everything will be decided by the prince."
As the atmosphere grew tense, Xiao Yu finally spoke up. "Sang Zhen, you are not from Da Zhou, and I am not from Bei Rong; there is no need to adhere to the same rules."
Sang Zhen stared at him in disbelief, her face paling suddenly.
A Dian, who did not fully understand Da Zhou's language, sensed Sang Zhen's emotions and hugged her tightly. He addressed Xiao Yu in Bei Rong dialect with an affectionate tone.
Xiao Yu furrowed his brows slightly but did not correct him.
"You two have traveled a long way, and A Dian is showing signs of discomfort due to the change in environment. For now, stay at the residence. Wangfei, please arrange accommodations for them."
"Yes," Song Feiwan replied.
"As for other matters, do not bring them up again," Xiao Yu added.
Sang Zhen bit her lip and lowered her head in grievance without responding.
Song Feiwan's gaze swept over their faces, and she couldn't help but sneer inwardly, choosing not to inquire about their cryptic exchange. Just as she was about to take her leave, A Dian suddenly waved his small fist and shouted angrily at her.
Although Song Feiwan did not understand what he said, she could clearly see the changed expressions on the faces of the Zhuo brothers and Sang Zhen.
It certainly wasn't a pleasant conversation. She was not the type to be bullied and endure it like a soft bun. With a hidden smile, she curiously asked Xiao Yu, "Your Highness, what does this child call me?"
If Xiao Yu dared to be ambiguous, she promised she would never pay attention to him again!
Xiao Yu maintained a stern expression and warned Sang Zhen and A Dian, "Since you've come to Da Zhou, if you can't speak the language, then don't say anything at all. Have him apologize to the Princess."
Sang Zhen embraced A Dian and said apologetically, "Your Highness, my lady, A Dian is still young and doesn't understand."
"I said for him to apologize. Or do you want me to teach him a lesson personally?"
Sang Zhen's expression stiffened, and she no longer dared to be vague. She pushed A Dian forward and scolded him harshly in Bei Rong language.
Initially defiant, A Dian now appeared timid and fearful as he looked pleadingly at Xiao Yu. Unfortunately, Xiao Yu showed no signs of softening.
With tears in his eyes, A Dian had no choice but to stammer an apology to Song Fei Wan in Da Zhou's language.
Song Fei Wan was unwilling to engage with them further and found Xiao Yu equally displeasing. She performed a curt bow and said indifferently, "If there's nothing else, I shall take my leave."
Just then, Xiao Yu stood up, intending to accompany her.
However, Sang Zhen stopped him: "Your Highness, you've been away for so long; I still have important matters regarding the grasslands to discuss with you."
With this interruption, Song Fei Wan walked away without looking back.
