As she focused her gaze, she saw Xiao Yu, impeccably dressed, looking down at her from a height, seemingly having observed her for quite some time. His narrow phoenix eyes were unfathomable, as if a storm was brewing within them.
Song Feiwan keenly sensed his displeasure and felt half-awake from her drowsiness, silently lamenting. Could it be that he had come to seek retribution so early? It seemed that her poisoning incident could no longer be concealed from him. She hoped that his punishment would be somewhat lenient.
"Your Highness, you’re up so early?" Song Feiwan still hadn’t grasped the severity of the situation. She sat up from the bed, rubbing her sleepy eyes.
She was beautiful; even just waking up with slightly tousled hair, she exuded a unique sense of lazy charm that was far from messy. However, Xiao Yu had no interest in admiring her; a raging anger burned within him, almost searing through his chest.
"Why are you sleeping here?" he asked coldly.
Song Feiwan was taken aback. He indeed remembered what had happened yesterday. Thus, she remained cautious and replied, "I’m not used to sharing a bed with someone, so I came over here."
"Have you eaten yet? Are you hungry? Would you like to eat first? I still need some time to wash up," she added.
"Hmph." Xiao Yu scoffed disdainfully.
Song Feiwan tilted her head in confusion and asked, "Your Highness, did I say something wrong? Or are you in a bad mood today?"
It felt strange to her.
"Song Feiwan, as the Princess Consort of Chen Wang, you seem quite at ease with this matter," Xiao Yu leaned closer to her, their gazes colliding in the air.
"What do you mean by that, Your Highness?" She found herself even more perplexed.
For some reason, her heart raced violently, filled with an ominous premonition.
"What I mean is that you deceived me into taking the position of consort and seem quite comfortable with it," he said.
Song Feiwan's heart sank with a thud; her eyes widened in terror as she tried to peer into his cold gaze to discern his thoughts. Unfortunately, his mind was too deep for her to fathom.
There was a mixture of anger and deep-seated murderous intent in his gaze. A shiver ran down her spine, and she instinctively trembled. Her already pale lips were now devoid of any color.
"Your Highness, you... you remember everything?" she asked with great difficulty.
"Yes," Xiao Yu replied, a bitter smile crossing his face. "After more than twenty years, I remember everything clearly."
Song Feiwan pressed her lips tightly together, her slender body trembling uncontrollably as she struggled to meet his gaze. She was overwhelmed, her thoughts in disarray, unable to utter a single word.
Did he truly remember, or was he merely testing her?
The last time they had been at the medical hall, their argument had escalated to the point where she had even made it public; surely that had taught him a lesson.
His softened demeanor silently indicated that he would not easily test her again or hurt her feelings.
But now, the axe that had been hanging over her head had finally fallen.
It was over.
He truly remembered!
The lies and traps she had woven around him—he would absolutely not let her off the hook for that!
Xiao Yu's lips curled into a cold smile, his low voice dripping with chilling intent. "Song Feiwan, I am curious. Now that you’ve played me like a fool, does it feel good to you? I have lived for twenty-one years, and you are the first to deceive me so thoroughly. You deserve a round of applause."
Song Feiwan felt as if she might cry from fear; images of his ruthless methods flashed through her mind. She dared not weep, fearing it would only provoke the villain further. Instead, she bit her lip, her eyes turning red.
"You... you have to let me explain," she said hopelessly.
