Xiao Yu's dark eyes were locked onto her, and he let out a soft sigh.
His hand shot up, gripping her chin and pushing her away just a little. Yet, they were still close enough that he could kiss her with just a slight lean forward. A storm seemed to rage within him, tearing apart the remnants of his rationality. Tempting whispers filled the air, repeating the notion of kissing her over and over again.
This thrill was both exhilarating and frightening, a mixture of surprise and disgust. It felt as if he were a beast driven by instinct; once he lowered his head, this woman before him would have him completely under her control. He despised this feeling of losing control.
With almost all his strength, he felt the veins in his neck bulge as he resisted the urge to pull her closer for a kiss, instead pushing her away again. His voice was as cold as winter ice, utterly indifferent.
"Get up."
Song Feiwan couldn’t read him; she seemed to want to listen but had only moved a fraction after a long pause.
"I haven't finished proving myself yet," she said, looking at him intently.
Xiao Yu clenched his jaw, his brows furrowing tightly. Even the way she spoke felt like torture to him, making his muscles tense further.
"That’s enough proof for now," he said stiffly.
Song Feiwan's eyes brightened slightly.
So he had decided to let her go! That was wonderful! Although he was incredibly handsome and had lips that looked inviting, Song Feiwan had no intention of taking advantage of him; she just wanted to distance herself as much as possible.
Without further delay, she pushed against his rock-hard chest and stood up as quickly as she could.
In their intense focus on each other, neither noticed the sleek black eagle that had landed outside the tightly shut window. It pecked at the glass a few times, creating a sudden thudding sound!
Startled by the noise, Song Feiwan jumped, and the realization that Xiao Yu was bare-chested combined with their ambiguous position filled her with a sudden rush of embarrassment that made her heart race!
As her body trembled, her steps faltered, and she accidentally stepped on her own skirt, losing all sense of balance!
Bang!
A scream caught in her throat as she fell towards the sturdy figure below. By sheer coincidence, her lips collided with his!
The world around her faded away, leaving only the slight pain and soft sensation on her lips to remind her of the incredibly awkward situation she found herself in. She couldn't believe it; the embarrassment was overwhelming!
In her heart, she cursed that damned thing outside the window! They didn't even need to kiss, yet here they were! And this was her first kiss! She was furious, absolutely furious!
How would she face him afterward? The thought was too daunting to even entertain. Perhaps a lightning bolt could strike her down instead?
Having been wronged like this, she still had to muster the effort to remedy the situation. She twisted and turned in a desperate attempt to rise from his embrace.
Just as their lips were about to part, Xiao Yu made a move that took her completely by surprise.
A low hiss escaped his thin lips, and she couldn’t tell if it was due to anger or something else.
Then, Song Feiwan felt a powerful hand tighten around her slender waist, lifting her chin as his lips descended upon hers once more!
The sudden shift left her breathless; she widened her eyes in shock and tried to push him away, but he responded with an even stronger force that pinned her down.
His kiss was fierce, as if he wanted to consume her entirely, and he lifted her slightly off the ground.
Looking down, she caught sight of his deep-set eyes filled with a wild desire that swept through like a tempest.
