"Well, I suppose I can reluctantly take you around the Azure Sky Palace," said Song Feiwan.
"No, thank you," replied Rong Anning.
Rong Anning widened her eyes in surprise; she never expected Song Feiwan to refuse her.
Song Feiwan chuckled again, "Let's have breakfast first and then go for a stroll."
Rong Anning suddenly remembered that she had forgotten all about breakfast, and her face turned bright red.
Just after finishing breakfast, a palace maid announced that His Highness, the Crown Prince, had arrived.
Upon hearing this, Rong Anning jumped up and rushed outside, only to bump into Xiao Yu at the entrance.
He had changed out of his court attire and was now dressed in a flowing dark robe adorned with cloud patterns. The waist sash was embroidered with intricate silver threads, exuding an air of nobility and grace.
His long black hair was tied back with a jade crown, revealing his sharp features and smooth, handsome face. His narrow phoenix eyes held an indifferent gaze that seemed bottomless.
"Cousin!" Rong Anning exclaimed excitedly, her eyes turning red as she opened her arms and lunged toward Xiao Yu.
Song Feiwan sat on a chair, sipping her tea in amusement as she watched the scene unfold, showing no intention of getting up.
Rong Anning's reaction was even more enthusiastic than when they were on the boat that day.
Were they about to have a heartfelt reunion embrace? Perhaps they would share their innermost feelings and promises before she graciously stepped aside for Rong Anning.
But then she saw Xiao Yu pull out a folding fan from somewhere and gently press it against Rong Anning's forehead.
With his fingers barely applying any force on the fan, Rong Anning found it impossible to move an inch closer.
"Cousin?" Rong Anning called out to him in confusion.
Xiao Yu's thin lips curled into a slight smile, though there was no warmth in his eyes. He didn’t even spare Rong Anning a glance; instead, he directed his gaze straight at Song Feiwan with an air of authority.
"Doesn't the princess want to introduce us? Who is this cousin of yours?"
Song Feiwan nearly choked at his words.
Rong Anning was equally stunned.
The lively atmosphere faded as Song Feiwan resignedly stood up and walked over to the two of them.
"Your Highness, allow me to introduce you. This is the daughter of the Rong family, Rong Anning, your cousin."
She emphasized the word "cousin" heavily.
Xiao Yu finally turned his gaze to Rong Anning, who was pouting from her earlier injury, but he remained indifferent.
"I don't remember," he said.
In an instant, tears welled up in Rong Anning's eyes.
Song Feiwan sighed inwardly, realizing that indeed, the dictionary of the great villain contained no words for cherishing beauty or compassion.
"Miss Rong, please step aside."
Rong Anning seemed overly affected and lowered her head, taking two steps back.
Xiao Yu entered the room, instructing the servants to stand down, then turned to ask, "Where is Mother?"
"She went to see the Empress. She said we should join her later," Song Feiwan replied.
Xiao Yu nodded and, with a graceful sweep of his robes, took a seat in the main chair.
His demeanor was that of a nobleman without pretense, which surprised Rong Anning enough to ask, "Cousin Chen Wang, do you really not remember anything from before?"
Xiao Yu's gaze was distant; perhaps out of respect for Concubine Rong, he patiently replied with a simple "Hmm."
Seeing Rong Anning lower her eyelashes, Song Feiwan thought she might complain about how close she and Xiao Yu used to be, hoping to awaken the villain's conscience.
To her surprise, Rong Anning quietly grumbled, "I thought you had amnesia and we could get along better. Why are you still treating me the same way? I even came here early this morning."
Song Feiwan raised an eyebrow.
"You're saying you care deeply for him, yet you've already given up?"
