"I didn't! Don't you dare slander me!" Li shouted in a panic, refuting her words while clutching Song Taipeng's sleeve, pleading, "My lord, you must believe me."
Song Taipeng's breath was still labored as he said with a grim face, "I know exactly what you and Shuyao are like; how could I be provoked by her?"
Song Feiwan coldly replied, "What I say is not meant to persuade anyone; I am simply informing you that our grievances will be settled one by one!"
She shifted her tone, "Let's start with Song Shuyao's courtyard. I will soon marry into the Prince of Chen's residence, and this courtyard is too small, too shabby, and too remote. It tarnishes my reputation. Therefore, I want Song Shuyao's courtyard."
Song Shuyao was taken aback. "No way!"
It had always been she who snatched things from Song Feiwan; now the tables had turned, and she couldn't bear it.
Song Taipeng frowned as well. "Song Feiwan, don't go too far."
"How is reclaiming my courtyard going too far?" Song Feiwan's gaze was icy as she directly called his name. "Song Taipeng, I advise you to think carefully before speaking to me."
As the head of the Song family, everyone relied on his authority to survive; he had never been disrespected like this before.
He felt like he might explode with anger and wanted to curse uncontrollably.
But he couldn't!
Setting aside the fact that Song Feiwan was still on the family register of the Song clan, she currently had the protection of the Emperor and the Consort. He dared not touch her!
Moreover, once she became the Princess of Chen, a single word from her could mean his death!
Song Taipeng felt utterly frustrated, his fists clenched tightly as he fully understood what it meant to bow one's head under a roof.
Song Shuyao could no longer tolerate it and shouted angrily, "Song Feiwan, how dare you call our father by his name! Mother, please send someone to take her away!"
Li also wanted to do just that but managed to hold onto her last shred of reason.
Seeing her unmoving, Song Shuyao called out again, "Mother?"
"Enough! Shut your mouth! Is it not chaotic enough already?" Song Taipeng bellowed, unable to contain his anger any longer.
Song Shuyao froze, her expression wounded as her pale lips trembled.
Song Taipeng closed his eyes and then opened them again.
He clearly hated her deeply but had to suppress his rage. In a low voice filled with frustration, he said, "Shuyao, go back now and pack your things."
Song Shuyao could hardly believe it. "Father? You want me to move out?"
Song Taipeng tacitly agreed.
Song Shuyao was on the verge of a breakdown. "But where am I supposed to move to?"
Song Feiwan replied nonchalantly, "You can move to my courtyard."
Immediately, Song Shuyao's face twisted in disdain, throwing a cold smirk at Song Feiwan. Did she not know that the original owner’s courtyard was terrible? After bullying the original owner for so many years, the boomerang had finally returned to hit her.
Song Taipeng was at a loss for what to do and murmured, "Let’s just do as Song Feiwan suggested."
Unable to hold back her tears, Song Shuyao cried out, "Father, you know I can't live there! Please, Father, take back your order!"
Song Taipeng remained unmoved. She turned to Li Shi, sobbing, but all Li Shi could do was feel heartbroken and angry; there was nothing more she could offer.
In the end, with her eyes red and swollen like a drowned rat, Song Shuyao gathered her belongings and people and exchanged courtyards with Song Feiwan.
As she left, she vowed silently in her heart that she would make Song Feiwan pay for this!
So much had happened in the residence today; tensions were high, and everywhere there was a sense of impending explosion.
In the dead of night, a terrified scream suddenly pierced the sky: "The water is flooding!"
Flames roared and tore through the night sky!
