The morning sun shines through the thin curtains into the room, and the air is filled with the fresh scent of early summer. Anna stands in front of the mirror, carefully combing her long, golden hair. Today, she plans to wear a white dress, which makes her look even more beautiful. As a student at Saint Mary's University, one of the most prestigious universities in Country M, Anna is not only intelligent and clever, but also exceptionally beautiful, making her the goddess in the hearts of many male students on campus.
"Anna, you look really beautiful today," Anna's roommate Lisa hugged her from behind and said with a smile, "Are you going to see that handsome and rich guy today?"
Anna smiled and patted Lisa's arm, "Don't talk nonsense, I'm just going to class."
"Come on, I saw him texting you to invite you to lunch." Lisa blinked, with a look that said "I know everything."
Anna shook her head helplessly, but felt a hint of sweetness in her heart. She did receive a text inviting her to meet at a café near the school at noon. The boy's name was Jack, the captain of the school basketball team, tall and handsome, from a well-off family, and the object of many girls' dreams. Anna had a crush on him, but hadn't made up her mind yet.
After getting dressed neatly, Anna picked up her backpack and walked out of the dormitory with Lisa. The campus was peaceful, with students walking in twos and threes on the tree-lined path, chatting and laughing. Anna and Lisa chatted as they walked, getting ready for their first class - Introduction to Economics.
In the classroom, every seat was taken, and the professor was explaining the latest economic theories. Anna sat in the front row, listening attentively and occasionally taking notes. She had a strong interest in economics and hoped to make a difference in the finance industry in the future.
At that moment, her phone vibrated. Anna sneakily glanced at it and saw a text from Jack: "Anna, let's go to the café together after class?"
Anna felt a flutter in her heart, quickly replied "okay," and then continued to listen to the lecture. She didn't want the professor to notice her distraction.
The bell rang after class, and Anna and Lisa packed up their books together, ready to leave the classroom. However, they found that the corridor outside suddenly became noisy. The students seemed to be discussing something with a look of tension and unease on their faces.
"What's going on?" Lisa asked with a frown.
Anna shook her head and walked to the corridor with Lisa. They overheard a few students discussing TV news and mentioning some strange events.
"I heard there was a serious violent incident in the city center, and many people got injured," one student said.
"Yeah, and they said someone was biting people, like they've gone crazy," another student added.
"Biting people?" Anna felt a chill run down her spine. This sounded too abnormal.
She and Lisa hurried to the public rest area of the school, where there was a large screen TV playing a live news broadcast. On the screen, a reporter was standing on a street in the city center, surrounded by chaos as police and paramedics were busy attending to the injured.
"According to the latest reports, a large-scale violent incident has occurred in the city center. Witnesses claim to have seen people attacking others as if they were crazy, and... biting them," the reporter's voice sounded nervous and frightened. "At present, the police have sealed off the scene, and the specific cause of the incident is still unclear."
Anna and Lisa locked eyes, feeling a sense of foreboding rising within them. Such a serious outbreak of violence in the city was unprecedented and almost unbelievable.
Anna felt uneasy and decided to go find Jack ahead of time. She sent him a text message, informing him that she was heading to the café now. Lisa also decided to accompany her, as they both felt safer together.
Two people walked out of the campus, and there was already a tense atmosphere on the street. The usually lively neighborhood now seemed somewhat deserted, and the pedestrians on the road were also in a hurry, as if they were all eager to get home.
As they walked to the coffee shop, Anna saw Jack standing there. He also seemed a bit nervous, but when he saw Anna, he smiled slightly and said, "Anna, Lisa, you're here."
"Jack, what exactly happened?" Anna couldn't help but ask.
Jack shook his head. "I'm not sure either. All I know is that something happened in the city center, the police have sealed off the area, and the news said that someone went crazy."
Three people walked into the coffee shop and found a corner to sit down. The cafe wasn't very crowded, and everyone was discussing the situation outside in hushed tones. Anna ordered a cup of coffee, trying to calm herself down.
"I think we need to understand the situation better before deciding what to do next," Jack said, taking out his phone to browse news websites and social media in hopes of finding more information.
Anna and Lisa nodded, and they also took out their phones to start searching for related news. As time passed, more and more shocking news emerged.
"According to eyewitnesses, the perpetrators of the violent incident behaved extremely abnormally. Not only did they attack others, but they also seemed to have a fanatical thirst for blood," one news report said.
"The police have issued an urgent announcement, urging citizens to stay at home as much as possible and avoid going out," another news alert.
Anna felt a wave of fear, as this kind of situation seemed to only occur in horror movies, but now it was happening around them in real life.

Time passes by second by second, and the atmosphere in the coffee shop becomes increasingly tense. Suddenly, the news on the television changes, and the host's voice becomes more serious.
"Just received the latest news, the government has confirmed that the possible cause of this violent incident is... zombie virus." The host's words plunged the entire coffee shop into a deathly silence.
Anna widened her eyes, unable to believe her ears. zombie virus? This was simply unbelievable, but from the images on the television, the situation in the city center was indeed very bad.
"Oh my, zombie virus?" Lisa covered her mouth, her face turning pale.
Jack held Anna's hand, offering her some comfort. "We need to stay calm and figure out a way to protect ourselves."
Anna nodded, trying hard to calm herself down. She knew that from now on, they must face a whole new, dangerous world.
